Playing devils advocate I have to say that at this time of year there is so little news they have to keep their job somehow. As for the kid, it's easy enough to ignore him, why pay any attention to it at all?

Thanks for that! I like the logic, would help low market teams in theory. However I think the idea is a bad one and would never work in the real world. Some things sound better in logic than in practice, and that is a perfect example.

I think Montreal is a good home for him, seems to be a good guy on that team and hopefully they can dig themselves out of the basement next season as I think NYI wants their home back.

But Ennis hasn't had 1 good year yet, his had a surprising rookie year and a half a massively disappointing year and half a really good year. While I'd still sign him long term it's not like his proven anything yet.

I think Ruff's system doesn't just allow it, it depends on it. Hence his success with grittier players (04-05 and 05-06 aside). I've always said Regier should have been fired long ago. The only difference being now I'm hesitant because I don't know how many good GM's are out there, and 'wanting' something is irrelevant, I have faith in Pegula.

Not him being another Rivet at best, but thats what it essentially was, getting a over the hill defenseman. His good in a lower Dman shutdown role who provides some physicality.

Actually they made the playoffs cause everyone else in the SE sucked worse, not because they were good. Also, they have a reasonable amount of talent on their team plus coaches tend to have the most success in their first year with a team, well not a bad rule of thumb anyway (Hitchcock, Ruff are two good examples).

Thanks for the info, I get that one person in that role will always be hated, look at heads of state. Always the case. A work stoppage will be seriously unpopular and the players will only lose the fight again, odd move.
