Only lost by a touchdown

They want a better backup to give price more time off during the season. They want price to play around 50-55 games next year and have someone capable to back him up and play the other 30 or so games and still have a chance to win them. There may have been heaper alternatives, but theres more of a risk that those guys don't work out which is whats happened to them in the last few seasons.
-
They league has been moving to Tandems more now too, I'm not sure if its just that true #1 guys who can play 70+ games a season at a high level are almost impossible to find anymore or if they are finding it better to just give their guys more time off in between starts.
-
And why would Montreal give up a goaltender they just traded for? They want a capable (good) backup that can allow Price more time off during the season. Not a 30+ year old with one good season in his career. Thats the type of goalie they have gone with the last few years and hasn't worked out for them....... If Domi came here, does he have to fight Rays kid (Does he have one?)

They made the move to get a better capable backup who would allow price to have more nights off and keep him healthier for the playoffs instead of going the leafs route and wearing their starter down by the last few games of the season and having nothing left for the playoffs As for the blues, they have a young prospect they want to bring up and are desperate for cap space to keep Pieterangelo around. This moves helps that a bit

This is true in some cases, but what players have the Sabres disinvested in that moved elsewhere and became more successful? Recently Lehner comes to mind but that was more of his own personal demons then anything else O'Reilly might be another, but he wasn't bad here

Would you be happy if Hall was acquired by the Sabres?
apuszczalowski replied to SabresFanInRochester's topic in The Aud Club
The timeline is NOW, and always is and should be now. This idea of teams wasting seasons so that a bunch of youngsters can grow together and gel and be some sort of dynasty team just doesn't happen anymore in the FA era. The successful teams have young talent but also older veterans to help them along and try to win while the youth still develops. -

He doesn't really fill a need for them unless the move is done to allow them to flip Reinhart to fill a need. As for worrying about getting massacred in the playoffs because they would get out muscled, baby steps. Lets just get into the playoffs first, then worry about what they need to go further........ But none of this really matters because hall said he isn't going to be looking for money this offseason, he wants to go to a winner and that isn't going to be here. -
But Holtby has had better career stats then both and has cup experience. Im not so down on him after one bad year.
-
I always thought Fleury was overrated on the pens but he was good for Vegas, I wouldn't be against him being here for a couple seasons He seems to be a funny guy too so he could fit in with some of the other players around here, plus he could get much better if he gets to work at the Tre White Goalie Academy.....
-
It would be pretty cool to see Fleury start for another expansion team.
-
Yeah, but now he said something that could affend some people which is more important then a hockey analyst knowing hockey......
-
He got 2 years where they were in the playoffs, and people here argue over keeping guys longer as they fight for the #1 overall pick.... Probably wasnt a good idea to let Trotz leave (I wonder if he wanted out also) But now you have an aging team thats going to have to atleast start retooling to stay good, Sounds like Holtby will be available, might not be a bad choice to replace Hutton til UPL is ready
-
So you are approaching retirement?

My wife had the Leafs game on last night for a bit and honestly, watching the broadcast I didn't even notice that there were no fans there until they showed the seats. Otherwise the games on tv sound the same as they normally do. I saw an overhead photo posted on the anniversary of the no-goal clearing showing him in the crease, but otherwise it's usually not shown unless they are specifically speaking about it.

Same here, can't do it
-
I heard that too that the opening wasn't in the NHL, but I also heard them say that it wasn't another GM position
-
i thought they only brought in ex-Carolina guys for the Bills? The Sabres were ex-Pens....... Sounds like Dudley was let go in Carolina as they didn't renew his contract. Would be nice to have some experience to help the new GM (with Carolina ties, but did they have a connection together in Carolina?) I don't know if the Sabres would be looking to do this unless he is willing to take a lesser role, and its something the GM has specifically asked for (which doesn't look good for him that he wants someone to help him be GM)
-
As for Hamilton, looks like he already has a new job on TV working for Channel 2 (WGRZ) reporting on the Sabres on weekends. Looks like a promotion after getting canned.....
-
That disclaimer is required as just mentioning a certain name can get your post removed as it being political..... I don't think anyone can really 'flip' a pro sports franchise, but relocation is always a possibility

Stupid Published trade Rumors/Proposals Involving the Sabres
apuszczalowski replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
There was an earlier rumor I saw that had the Sabres wanting the Sharks goalie , but they wanted the Sharks to retain salary so the Sharks wanted Risto. Looking at that deal, Do the Sharks like 1st rounders?
