  1. There was only one team that finished less then 10 points ahead of them in the standings (Montreal finished with 71 points to Buffalos 68, Florida had 78 points and were 11th) The realistically had one team they had a chance to catch (Montreal) in order to make the extended playoffs. Right now they have done nothing to improve on that below average goaltending with options becoming even fewer to find someones whos more then a 'hope' to be an upgrade...
  2. But shopping a better player is also going to mean they want something better in return.
  3. And you can keep living in a complete fantasy world They missed the playoffs in a year where the league expanded them to include extra teams, how would they have been a legitimate top 16?
  4. What about sideways/lateral?
  5. And there is probably interest from more then half the leagues teams in those players. In a shortened year where the playoffs were expanded to include more teams Yeah, let celebrate almost making the playoffs in a year where even more teams were making them......
  6. He is already on waivers, i don't think a team can trade someone they just put on waivers. If a claim is put in on him, he is gone, they can't see who makes a claim then take him off.
  7. I guess we figured out why he wasn't re-signed, he wasn't willing to play for $700k this year.....
  8. Yeah but those probably aren't the only moves those teams have made, or they are teams that didn't struggle to make an extended playoffs this year after missing out for a decade.....
  9. Probably not because those teams will just make a couple moves to free up some space and get a great player while Sabres fans fret about being close to the cap in 5 years and if the Pegulas will have enough money to pay for the rest of the work to their yacht.....
  10. And yet they are supposed to be in the hunt for Pieterangelo......
  11. Sure, but that avenue also costs precious assets no one wants to give up And those big fish will also have alot of suitors to chose from trying for their services.
  12. They couldn't even make the extended playoffs with additional teams added after a shorten season Like usual though fans will complain if everyone isn't optimistic that all the young guys will just improve to superstars and the team will magically make the playoffs because they have another season under their belt
  13. But with that logic you could argue that all of FA is just teams plugging holes...... yes the couple of Big Fish are taking their time deciding what to do like every year, but most teams can also multi task and make other moves to fill other holes too Its about 6 hours in and the goalie pile has already been picked through while buffalo has dumpster dived to make sure they obtained 2 bottom of the pile players spending just $1.4 mil. The Sabres will have alot of cap space to overpay some nice lower/mid tier guys to fill out the roster.
  14. 2 Veteran minimum (basically) signings and re-signing Zemgus One team needed a goalie and had to attract one to come there, the other one was re-signed to a place he wanted to go back to.
  15. Are you forgetting about Reider and now Irwin?
  16. Depends, He doesn't have alot of mileage, and with the last year being when he's 36, its not too bad Lots of goalies still play into their mid-late 30's. maybe not at a high level, but its not horrible
  17. is that the new 5x5?
  18. According to some above he has, in Nashville I believe
  19. Guess he was too quick?
  20. it may have been cheaper to sign the other Jack Johnson........
  21. A sparking Butt Plug? Ouch
  22. True, and I'm not going to argue that, but not every roster spot is going to be top tier players, there have to be some to fill the bottom
  23. And yet they are letting him walk? I'm not saying I like their plan, but 3rd line C isn't something you need to put all your focus into at the start of FA unless thats the only need your team has...
  24. Were you expecting more in the $700k salary range?
  25. So there we go, TP got the laptop working and they reeled in their big fish!
