  1. Are you sure he could afford a NEW laptop, don't they have an internal budget to deal with now?
  2. Although Crickets can be more entertaining then taxes most of the time......
  3. Has there been any signings to discuss? Its either a frenzied tax discussion or crickets I guess.....
  4. I do agree that there is a greater advantage in teams whos revenue is in Canadian or American funds, but its also a big advantage to attract players when you can get them slightly lower because they don't have to pay income tax on a large portion of their salary
  5. But no team, no matter the financial advantages they have are good all the time. How many states in the US have no income tax? How many of those states have NHL franchises? The Coyotes and Panthers have been bad because they have poor fanbases with low attendance causing them to have internal budgets/Caps. Having a salary cap in the NHL helps to limit any advantage they may gain because theres only so much that can be spent. The advantage is supposed to be that players will take less then other places to play there because they end up making the same or more because they aren't paying as much in taxes.
  6. Tampa has been one of the leagues better teams for years, Vegas has had one season where they weren't in the top 4 in their short existence. Dallas has been one of the better teams during the regular season in the league
  7. To be fair, Vegas has been one of the best teams in the NHL and has been to Western conference finals and Cup finals in their short existence, and Dallas was also in the Finals too. Its not like they haven't been really good just because they weren't the 1 team every year that gets the cup
  8. Pray someone claims him?
  9. Are we going to hear that the Pegulas signed Tre White to play for both the Bills and sabres as part of his extension? problem solved in Net!
  10. i wanted Buffalo to be in on him because i think he could be pretty good here, but from what it sounds like, Vancouver wasn't going to overpay for him because they have others to sign and have another goalie who played very well in the playoffs so if Markstrom was going to want top dollar, they couldn't bring him back and went to plan 'B' and got Holtby instead. Theres no way Vancouver would have gotten Markstrom re-signed for around what they brought Holtby in for
  11. I think they do because they did want him back, but with the other goalie stepping up in the playoffs for them, I don't think they want to pay him what he wants to be in a 1A/1B situation
  12. Plus I believe they signed Holtby instead
  13. Because that BPA won't be available when they pick next? BPA doesn't have to mean only when you pick. They may not 'need' the player at that position but still may love what they are or could become and they are rated very highly that they are the best player available at the time they get picked.
  14. I would think after the draft is over. Right now during the draft it's more likely to be traded of picks with maybe the odd prospect thrown in to the deal. After the draft teams can reassess their needs and what they have them start dealing again before FA starts.
  15. Is that saying they have interest in Danault or Laine? I read that as them having interest in Laine
  16. That's who I would be looking at. Try to get one of them to team with Ullmark. They are still young which gives the Sabres time to not rush anyone and after that they can be traded for assets. Only problem is that the reason they are available is because CBJ believe they can cash in on one for a good return, so sending them Hutton or another scrap for one isn't going to cut it. Fleury could be an option to help for this year and next, and with Vegas looking to move him, they might take less for him. He has a high cap hit so that could be an issue. But he is a veteran with loads of experience and is an upgrade for now.
  17. I don't find it hard to believe and I don't think its some weird conspiracy/shady leak from a rival GM/Team I would not be shocked to hear that the Sabres are listening on Everybody and the Rangers made a call to see what it would take for Jack. Knowing they have the #1 overall pick and are close to being a competitor that they may feel someone like jack will have a better impact now for them then the #1 overall pick and have some moveable pieces that they could use to make a huge splash. The have a young goalie they may have to move (if they cant move Hank) and the Sabres could use an upgrade in net. Thats not to say the Sabres would make the move, but you never 'don't listen' to the offer. If the Sabres have an internal Cap crunch and don't think its possible to make serious upgrades needed next year to make them competitive, maybe they look to moving the one big piece for a bunch of smaller pieces that make them a better 'Team'. Lafreniere is talked about as being a very highly rated player and would definitely be the centerpiece of the deal, but throw in a few more pieces and maybe they see it as a move to save some cost but make them better in the long term (possibly in a year or to depending on how Lafreniere adjusts)
  18. Get a better goalie, keep the D similar to last season and focus on upgrading the forward group.
  19. You're up next Jordan!
  20. Guess it's a good thing they have an experienced veteran GM who knows how to work the cap and has concured Everest before......
  21. Are his well digging machines broken or did they get Covid? I thought with the Saviour Pegulas money was no object and we would never have to worry about budgets? Atleast Sabres fans are used to seeing the team running on a tight budget....
  22. Only lost by a touchdown
  23. They want a better backup to give price more time off during the season. They want price to play around 50-55 games next year and have someone capable to back him up and play the other 30 or so games and still have a chance to win them. There may have been heaper alternatives, but theres more of a risk that those guys don't work out which is whats happened to them in the last few seasons.
  24. They league has been moving to Tandems more now too, I'm not sure if its just that true #1 guys who can play 70+ games a season at a high level are almost impossible to find anymore or if they are finding it better to just give their guys more time off in between starts.
  25. And why would Montreal give up a goaltender they just traded for? They want a capable (good) backup that can allow Price more time off during the season. Not a 30+ year old with one good season in his career. Thats the type of goalie they have gone with the last few years and hasn't worked out for them....... If Domi came here, does he have to fight Rays kid (Does he have one?)
