  1. Nolan was pretty much brought in to appease the fan base by bringing back a fan favorite to try an make a rebuild/tank palitable to everyone. Bylsma was highly overrated as he was given a cup team in Pittsburgh that was stacked and din't really need a good coach to get them a championship. The rest have been inexperienced possible 'up & comers' who would come cheap trying to make their name as a head coach, or guys already familiar with the team and given a chance to show what they have as a head coach. Some might not have been bad choices, if they weren't also using the same method of hiring the GM. If they want a rookie HC, they should have paired them with a more experienced GM, or a rookie GM with a more experience HC. Letting 2 inexperienced rookies run the team as HC & GM isn't usually a receipe for success
  2. TP might want to ask the NFL to schedule the Bills to play at the same time as the Sabres, atleast this way he can use it as an excuse for low attendance at the game
  3. How can anyone on this team be untouchable? For the right price, everyone should be available, of course there would be a few that might require the other team to grossly over pay to get. Its not like they are going anywhere built the way they are, so a 3rd/4th liner should be available and not worry about losing what that player brings to the table because this team isn't going anywhere as its built currently
  4. So they won't be raising his number to the rafters at the end of the season? Seems like the end of last season was just teams using the Sabres as a night off/rest and was too small a sample size for levi He should have started the year down in Rochester and sepnt atleast the year there to develop and force his way onto the team because of his play. Its never hurt a players development to spend more time in the minors, but it can destroy them by spending not enough and coming up before they are ready. Unless they want to ruin him, send him down to Rochester and bring in someone to play with UPL in the NHL. Of course that would require making a move and using an assett which the front office seem to covet hoarding.....
  5. Thats because other teams try to build winners, and will go all in to win now Here they want to build a Dynasty that will win for years and years to come, and can't sacrifice future potential for any success now.... There was a time around here back in the Lindy Days when fans were upset and demanded change because they were upset with the team just making the playoffs. They got the change and then wanted them to lose if they weren't cup contenders because losing out for a better draft slot was better then just making the playoffs.
  6. Sportsnets broadcast last night after the 2nd period was all about whether the Leafs could/should obtain another goalie until Woll is back (possibly in February) and how Samsonov should not be in the NHL (just like a former leaf Cambell in Edmonton)
  7. He always has been, he used to co-host a radio/tv sports show every night with another guy in Canada called 'Tim & Sid' Then he left to go be on CityTV's morning show as one of the co-host and usually has strong opinions about things.....
  8. He is close by, real close.......... Currently he is a 'Senior Advisor' for the Niagara Ice Dogs in St. Catharines where his son took over as Head Coach earlier this season Let him stay there and give him more power/control in that franchise to save us from the inept owner (who is currently suspended for the season after he acted as his own GM last year)
  9. 18,259 seats is small capacity? According to Wikipedia, its the 19th largest indoor arean in North America & the 3rd largest venue to not hold an NHL franchise (Clevland and Portland are larger by +/-1-200 seats), its larger then the Rangers and bruins arena, and both of the last expansion teams arenas (by +/-700-1,000 seats) Sure you can argue its not a 'Big Corporate City', but its not like Atlanta thrived the last couple times they had a franchise. The only reason to put another team back there is to try AGAIN to force an ice sport into a southern/warmer climate area to try an expand the hockey fanbase (its why they won't give up on Phoenix/Arizona). A Quebec team, or any Canadian franchise isn't likely to bring new fans into the NHL, its likely to just rearrange some existing fan bases.
  10. Can't see how you get rid of him at this time selling low Levis stats so far this year are at the career averages of both Comrie and UPL whos stats are almost identical (GAA & Save%) UPL is still only 24, if he can stay healthy, he has the ability to be very good, but the issue with him is that injuries keep delaying his development There best option right now would be to put Levi in Rochester and let him force his way back into the NHL by dominating in the AHL rather then potentially stunting his development by having him in the NHL too early. Let Comrie and UPL fight over the #1 spot until theres a market to move one of them, or one of them plays themselves off the team. If they insist on running Levi no matter what as the #1 and need to get rid of one of the others, I would try to move Comrie since he is less likely to develop into anything more then what he is (a #2 with the potential to be a 1B at best)
  11. Not disagreeing with what you said, just what the article was suggesting/saying The fact that there is talk of giving Atlanta a 3rd shot at a franchise, but won't consider a 2nd chance for Quebec isn't right
  12. This was talked about dureing the Sportsnet broadcast of the game tonight that Buffalos attendance hasn't been good outside of the home opener The thing is, attendance around the entire league is pretty bad in alot of areas, there were even rumblings that I saw about whether the Jets could relocate because they have had really bad attendance this year.
  13. Like Crosby? Maybe One Day McDavid will get that too
  14. That group dropped out a few weeks ago, I believe this group was the one that included The Weekend, not the one including Snoop Dogg....... I think all of the deals included a deal with the land to develop a new arena on
  15. What employer today would be able to dictate to its employees that they must wear something that could go against a religious belief, or be viewed as a political view, AND have the ability to send them home or not pay them if they refuse to wear it? Work places have uniforms/dress codes/approved attire for the work place, but no business is going to have the right to make their employee wear something that would go against their personal beliefs or views. If anything, those requirements usually include not being able to wear things that would express these views/beliefs/etc. in the work place. Most workplaces would be looking at lawsuits if they told their employees they had to participate in an event that required you to show support for a cause that was sexual/racial/political/religious in nature. Typically the only ones permitted would be ones based in medical issues because it doesn't matter what beliefs you have that are sexual/racial/political/religious in nature, everyone can be affected by Cancer/Heart disease/alzheimers/etc. The problem is, outside of maybe raising money for a group through auctioning off the jerseys afterwards, these nights don't do anything except try an make the league/teams/players look like they give a damn. The players that refused to wear the jerseys/participate in it have all said the right things and have not shown they don't believe anyone in the LGBTQ+ community shouldn't be allowed to play or that they wouldn't accept them as a teammate or friend. Its a bit hypocritical to be pushing that those players need to accept the LGBTQ+ community, while not accepting the fact that there will be those that don't feel they can participate in events like this. The only ones that should be viewed negatively are the one that are actively doing something to take away rights from LGBTQ+ individuals, or attacking/ treating anyone differently because of they are LGBTQ+. This has been going on for a while though, its nothing new. I would think many here remember the episode of Seinfeld where Kramer refused to wear the Aids ribbon. He was their to support the cause and was part of the walk, he just wouldn't wear the ribbon and was viewed as not supporting the cause because he didn't have one on.
  16. Because its not time to spend money yet, apparently Spending money now on talent to improve this team will only hurt them by giving them a chance to make the playoffs too early and everyone knows its detrimental to a franchise making the playoffs too early. Unless your the cup favorite, its better to skip the playoffs You also can't spend money on good players because they could block your picks & prospects from making the team, and the only way to be a successful dynasty is to draft all of your top players. The Pegulas have spent money on this team from top to bottom. They spent on the front office, they spent to upgrade parts of the arena, they have spent on players. But right now, the Sabres aren't their favorite toy anymore and the Bills are the new favorite because they are winning and successful. The Sabres, are years of spending money unwisely, continue to be a bottom feeder in the league and its caused a big loss of support for the franchise by the fans (and therefore loss of income) so they have moved their focus to the Bills. Once the shine and lustre has worn off on them, they will either be back to focusing on the Sabres, or sell the franchise.....
  17. The post I quoted said this exactly, that they are a goalie away from the playoffs
  18. If they were looking to tank again, he has shown with Twitter he might be the man for the job!
  19. Most of his time in the AHL he was battling injuries and recovering from Hip Issues which could have affected it. I think this is one of the first years since coming up from the OHL that he has been healthy enough to play a full season and he has been thrown to the wolves to sink or swim in the NHL
  20. But they have lots of picks and prospects, and the futures bright! How many times could we say that in the past......
  21. That does explain Adams response every year that they still need to evaluate the current roster before making moves...
  22. Probably not for the Sabres though, they wouldn't be interested in that kind of service....
