  1. Luke Adams did it for a while and he isn't good enough to get out of the AHL............
  2. Thats true, although the best revenge is to go out and beat them on the score board. Beating them physically is nice and may make you feel all warm and tingly for a bit, but winning the game is the best revenge. they can go out and be the "tough guys" all they want, I would take a soft team that wins regularly over a team thats worried more about throwing hits and fights then scoring. I think the best revenge right now would be handing the Bruins their first loss of the year, by a team that is coming off a 4 game losing streak (especially if they can blow them out)
  3. The city can still make it work, they just need someone with deep pockets to weather a few rough years of some losses to get a stable foundation in place to build a fan base from. The agreed upon lease deal would go a long way to help an owner weather the first few years. The problem is that I don't think Jamieson is the guy to do it, he doesn't have the resources and would be better off getting a team on stable financial ground where he could land investors to help out. Phoenix needs someone like Pegula, someone who has the financial resources to buy the team himself without needing investors and the cash to weather some years in the red to turn the franchise around. I don't think theres anyone out there right now with that kind of money who wants to do it right now without relocating to their home. I would say that if/when this falls through tonight, the Coyotes are done. Bettman has already said that if it doesn't work out, the NHL will look at buyers looking to relocate. If/when that happens, I think that KC then Seattle have the best chances at the moment. KC has an arena already, they just need someone to buy a team and relocate, while Seattle has the plans in place for the new arena for hockey and Basketball. Quebec City could have a chance, they are planning a new arena (don't think any construction has started, just plans for it) and have some interested potential buyers. Markham just approved their new plans for an arena and are moving forward with it, but they are still a few years away from an arena being in place (2015 at the earliest I believe). Best chance for Markham is if they have a buyer, they agree to play a few seasons in Phoenix til the arenas built (I would expect attendance to be virtually non existent in Phoenix if that happened), or to sign an agreement to share ACC with the Leafs, or maybe play at Ricoh in Toronto til its ready. (ACC could be tough to schedule 2 NHL teams, and an NBA team, along with Concerts and shows for a year or 2) As for the last part, its what many (mostly Canadians) don't understand or just don't want to understand, the NHL, in order to grow and improve, needs southern teams to work if they ever want to move up in the rankings of pro sports. More Canadian teams won't do that. Canada is already hockey mad and theres already a TV deal in place there, but thats not where the money is. It does nothing to expand the game because if your Canadian and not a hockey fan already, putting a team in Quebec City or Hamilton won't all of the sudden make you interested in the game, your most likely following the game already. Also, Canadian teams can thrive right now at the moment because the Canadian dollar is close to par, but if/when the dollar goes back down, theres gonna be teams struggling financially again here
  4. I don't know, I would say theres a good chunk of people here who would probably prefer to see revenge and blood over points. Getting points would mean that theres a chance they could make the playoffs and Ruff stays, but blood would mean they could make believe that Buffalo has revenge on Boston and no one will make fun of the Sabres anymore for Last season.
  5. So does that mean that Kaleta will play tonight?
  6. I hear that while on the Canucks, Hodgson was considered "oversized" but when he got to Buffalo, Ruff made him "undersized"
  7. Thats fine if your already throwing away this season (6 games in) and looking ahead to the future. he showed nothing in Tuesdays game to show that he was better then any of the defencemen currently on the roster
  8. He didn't look any better then anyones who has played defence for the Sabres so far this year eitherSo he should get a roster spot now over a veteran just because he is a rookie that you think "didn't look worse then the rest of them"?
  9. I think the issue there is that its really hard to build a fanbase for a new team when every year all you here is about how the team ownership is in flux and the rest of the fans of the league say you will/should be moved. The league needs southern teams to succeed if they ever want to become a legitimate pro sports league like the NFL/NBA/MLB in the US. Right now they won't get the lucrative TV deals like the NFL has with teams only located in the northern US and Canada. Throw in the fact that up until a few seasons ago, the Coyotes have been basement dwellers in the standings (Its really hard to build a fan base when the product on the ice stinks, see Columbus as an example). Give them a few years with a good team, and stable ownership that can properly market the team and they can eventually make money there. They won't rival the Rangers, Habs, or Leafs in fanbase and revenue, but they won't be hemorraging money either.
  10. I don't know about that, McCormick is basically Scott in the lineup, he would just be another punching bag basicallyAs for Kaleta being out, its always good to have him in the lineup cause he is an agitator, but in a game like this, you just know the league would have told the refs that if he breathes wrong on a player to get him in the box or toss him from the game.
  11. I guess this depends on how you qualify a player as a rookie, but I would start weber over him right now, but I would start Leo over Brennan. He might start on other teams, but doubtful he is a top 4 on most other teams.
  12. So was Leo IIRC and yet everyone seems to think he has been fine, except for the one play in OT I have no problem seeing TJ on the bench, his play in Tuesday game didn't really merritt keeping him in the lineup
  13. Not according to his tax returns, I believe that was also the last movie he was ever in if you go by them ;)
  14. Your right, how could the GM in charge at the time be responsible for the signing/re-signing of players. I forgot that it happened at a time where he only made the good decisions, and Quinn/TG made all the bad ones :rolleyes:He could have atleast re-signed one of the 2, unfortunatly he chose to chase after the one who didn't want to be here instead of the one almost begging to come back. If DR can't be blamed for "Black sunday", why can he take credit for the signing of Ehrhoff and Regher? TP had to literally beg them both to agree to come to Buffalo
  15. (Im retyping this from another post I wrote in) The problem with Myers is after year 1 we all though we had another Chara, unfortunatly it looks like we got another Charo instead..........
  16. Oh yeah, I forgot, at that time it was always the Quinn and the owners fault
  17. I never said that there wasn't anymore blame to go around, unlike many who put all of the blame on Miller for "letting in another softie". Of course the goalie should stop every shot, but it doesn't help when the defencemen who has been nothing short of horrible all season, just lets someone walk in on net at the very end of overtime. But if Leo does his job as an NHL defencemen should, theres no way Frattin is able to come in and get off such an easy shot on Miller who is also expecting his defencemen to make a play. in a situation that they were in, as a goalie you are playing the odds, 9 out of 10 times, the defencemen is going to force the guy away from the net so he can't get a shot away with having to physically push the defencemen towards the middle where more often then not the defencemen just has to stand his ground and the shooter will either try and push the puck past the goalies pads or have to attempt a back handed shot close to the goalie unless he is able to get a pass away. Of course Miller should have also been there to make the save and not leave a hole open. He had a bad game (the first one in a while, and something every goalie, even hasek has had every season), and his teammates let him down and didn't pick him up like he is expected to do when they have bad games and expect him to be perfect.
  18. Really? He wasn't at fault for letting Briere and Drury walk?Briere was almost begging the team to come back and had said multiple times leading up to FA that he was waiting for an offer. They decided to go after drury who made it known he wanted to play at MSG, Briere said a few days before FA that since he had no offer he would test the market and they both walked
  19. At that time we thought we were getting the next Chara, unfortunatly it looks like we got the next Charo instead
  20. Same here. Its really hard to expect anything different year after year when your GM is still searching for replacement for 2 leaders he let walk and your only upgrades come in the form of mid level FAs he overpays for. A game he has played in before. They may pick 6 goalies for a team picked by fan voting, but theres actually only 3 spots (from atleast 15 players) since miller can't make the western conference team playing in buffalo
  21. As a goaltender, you expect your defencemen to atleast try and do something to prevent a guy from getting by you and having a shot on net. Miller misplayed it probably expecting Leo would at the very least force him into a situation where he would have a worse angle or have to go backhand, instead Leo just let the guy go by and have a clear shot at Miller. The Sabres would be better off putting a forward out there instead of Leo if he isn't going to try and stop a guy from getting a clear shot off.
  22. So, its fine for leo to make no effort because it was the end of his shift and end of OT that he play lazy and not do what he can to prevent any shot, but its not ok for the goaltender to make any mistake? You have to be here just to troll or trying to stir up arguments. Either that or your new to hockey The goaltender is the last line of defence for a team, otherwise why do teams even have defencemen and not just use 5 forwards all game if they goalie is expected to stop everything? Yes Miller misplayed it and gave him too much of a hole, he admitted that, but the reason he misplayed it is because he is expecting his defencemen to do more to prevent a shot then just skate along side the forward and hold his stick out. Leo didn't even force Fratten into a position where he would have to go backhand on that shot. On the first goal of the game leo just stood there and watched as the Leafs player was allowed to stand in front of Miller with the puck.....
  23. If he keeps playing like he has, i don't think theres a team in the NHL, KHL, AHL, ECHL, OHL, or Juniors thats going to be desperate enough for his play. I would expect if they tried to waive him and send him down to Rochester, The Amerks would probably say "Thanks, but no Thanks, you guys can keep him". That is unless SwampD and Drunken Idiot here become GMs for an NHL team........
  24. from the replay on the board it looked like he was just standing there with his stick blade up around his head and Foligno skated right into it
  25. Yeah, cause thats really helping to turn them around  do you happen to have a Delorean? Thats the only possible way to make that happen...............I was at the game too, don't know where you were or what playoff games you've been to, but that was hardly anywhere near a playoff atmosphere. The Leafs chants were much more noticeable and louder
