  1. Yeah, Peters (go figure) was suggesting that Gadzik is called up to fight Scott (who hasn't had a fight since...?). It's stupid.

Before some certain folks chime in: There's a difference between dressing a goon to handle a cheap-shot artist, and dressing a goon just to fight.

And dressing a goon that does neither. I can't remember the last time Scott was sent after someone that had given a Sabre a cheap shot and there have been plenty of opportunities.

  2. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment, I watch every game until the end, I may turn it when there's a few seconds left, but I just can not turn the game off or ever leave early at a game. After over 40 years of being a fan I really don't know any other way and I feel guilty for some reason if I don't watch the whole game. I did fall asleep for the 3rd period during a game this season.

  3. That stickwork by Subban was absolutely reckless! The league needs to look at that. He's slowly begining to overtake Chara on my list of most hated player.

And yet not a Sabre does anything about it. Run the goalie, slash the goalie, punch the littlest guy in the face numerous times in front of our bench and not a thing done. Nolan has taken the little balls this team had left and nurtured them. Just about every game someone takes liberties with the Sabres goalie or one of the smaller forwards and nothing is done. With players like Scott and Konopka in the lineup, this should not be happening. Softest team in hockey.

  4. Ted Nolan isn't supposed to fix anything, the front office is.

Look at the roster - The fact that they at least play hard now is an improvement of monumental proportions, considering for how long the team failed to do just that.

I have no preferences as to whether Nolan stays or goes, but to make a decision based on current results isn't fair.

The past couple of games, the majority of the players have been far from playing hard. There is some serious floating going on out there IMO. The whole concept of ice time being rewarded for hard play, is out the window.

  5. holy cow leino wtf r u doing. gets a great feed from risto and blows it with a stupid pass to a covered guy in the slot when he should've put it on net

He's reached his month's quota of SOG's with 2, anything more and he'll be looking to renew his contract.

And speaking of Leino.... Rick and Rob seemed quite critical of Leino's treating the puck like a game of "Hot Potato" and getting rid of it as quickly as possible instead of shooting.

In the interview, Leino talks about changes to his stick .... maybe try shooting with it instead of looking at it? LOL

For a while there in the 1st half of the period, it sounded like Ray was the President of the Ville Leino fan club.

  6. Pro Football Focus and Football Outsiders had Williams ranked ahead of Brown and Legursky. Doesn't make him good, but he's an upgrade.

Marrone being an ex offensive lineman obviously thinks he can do something with him, or they never would of picked him up. Also playing between Glenn and Wood certainly could help his game. At worst, he's an experienced lineman who can add depth on the line.

  7. He is THE WORST player in the league and must be gone. I'm a little shocked he is getting regular ice time under Nolan. That doesn't jibe with the preaching's of Ted.

His ice time did get cut last night, he's averaged around 15 minutes, but he had less than 10 minutes yesterday.

What? You mean you aren't supposed to pass the puck two feet, into your teammate's feet, using the same strength you would use to complete the pass were he 40 feet away?

Short, hard, passes. That's the key. :)

To be fair to Leino, he doesn't always pass into his teammates skates, he hits their chest a lot too.

  8. No... They aren't.

Also, they are moving Kiko Alonso to the outside. Not a bad idea. He fits there more... But acting like Keith Rivers is a legitimate starter in the middle is bad news.

They've never had any intention of Rivers playing inside, if he does win a starting job it would be as the SLB and that would probably be as a 2 down player.

  9. The people who don't like him here think that the people who do like him here think he's our best player.

I can't say I don't like Hodgson, I think he has a lot of talent, but some things he's doing right now are the same things that people are still roasting Stafford for. His "compete" has been soft and at times he looks like his head is not in the game, or that he's just uninterested. He has great vision for the ice and he's not using it, the shot from far out on the boards last night was a great example and that's not the only time he's done something like that. The thing that does make me mad about Hodgson, is I know he can be, such a better player and possibly the best forward on the Sabres.

Only saw one period last night, but in Hodgons defense, he has been playing with AHL'rs on his line for most of the years.

I wouldn't say most of the year, he was on the top line with Vanek or Moulson for a long time. Still a "great" player should bring up his linemates game, not sink down to their level. He needs to become a leader and not a floater follower.

  10. Good thing we didn't tag him and trade him for a 1st

They didn't tag him because they were hoping to resign him, if the would of tagged him, he would of pouted and there'd be no chance of resigning him and they would of been stuck with him holding out through training camp again, then complaining of his sore tootsies, all of which would of been a distraction to the team.

Good riddance, the Saints will be sorry in another 2-3 years when he holds out because he wants a new contract.
