Yep. And I'm pretty sure NFL bylaws prohibit a corporation like Roger's or MLSE from being a majority owner.

I don't consider this type of talk during the run up to be a necesarily bad thing as it could potentially lead to Torontonians one day showing up and cheering for the "home" team.

IF the Bills were to end up in TO with the same colors (colours?), nickname, and logo, would any of you still consider yourselves Bills fans?

I think you're right, from what I understand there has to be a single majority/principle owner and it can not be a group or organization.

  2. Interesting call to end the MNF Pats vs Panthers game. I can see both sides of the argument: uncatchable and pass interfernce by all out mugging

Even if the ball was uncatchable, you have defensive holding. As much as I like the Pats not getting their way, I hate inconsistent officiating and the NFL and NHL are both full of it.

  3. I thought that Stafford has looked good the last 3 games, hopefully Nolan can keep him to stay involved in the game and not float around, but that goes for at least a few other guys also. I was a little shocked to see that Stafford leads the team in SOG's, (52) maybe if he starts to bury a few more he'll get some confidence and want to play harder.

  4. I can't get into the bottoming out thing, I know it would bring us a higher draft choice (not necessarily the #1), but I would rather have the players on this team, especially the young ones to start winning, to get used to winning and learning how to win. I don't want these guys getting accustomed to and comfortable with losing. when talking about changing the culture of the team, it includes turning a losing team into a winning team and it's going to take more than another 19 year old kid, no matter how good he is.

  5. I do like having Nolan back, but I do not think it will be long term. I have a bigger problem with lack of effort than "lack of talent" on this team, Nolan should be able to correct that. Talent means nothing if you're not trying. I can easily see Nolan bringing back up Kaleta and possibly another vet or two from Rochester, then sending down a couple of the kids to develop in the minors. One thing for sure, is I am excited to see the Sabres next game Friday night, and I haven't felt like that about too many Sabres games this season.

The kitten has taken to scratching at my bedroom door at whatever hour he decides I should get up, which is always well before when the alarm is set.

Spray some cologne or perfume on the bottom of the door, or you can even try a heavy scented lemon furniture wax. My daughter's cat use to scratch the bottom of her leather couch and once it was sprayed with a perfume, she stopped completely.

  7. Vanek: "I enjoyed my time there, but I didn’t want to be a part of that.”

    Thanks Tommy.

I really can't blame him. He is in his prime, and in Buffalo he's never really had the A team of line-mates.

He was probably more gracious than he needed to be.

Vanek could of milked the Sabres and Darcy of a big contract to finish up his career, I give him credit for wanting to be somewhere where winning is going to be more important to him than being paid more money.

  8. Something special about seeing a team finally turning the corner.

Regardless of how the season finishes, the Bills are starting to do things the right way.

Although the numbers don't show it, Fred Jackson had a great game, he went above and beyond what could be asked of him. As important as Jackson was to the victory, it would of been a different outcome if not for Mario Williams. Williams takes a lot of flack because of his contract, one that his play (no matter how good) will never justify, but that's the way it is in free agency, if you want a top player, you're going to have to overpay for him. Williams is on his way to a career high in sacks and possibly a new sack record for the league.

Nobody refers to the Bills as a team that is rebuilding, but they are a team that is in a "rebuilding" process. Darcy Regier should take note that "rebuilding" does not mean you have to lose every game, or that you have an excuse to lose.

  9. I was a Bisons fan and watch Punch build the Sabres from a expansion team to Stanley Cup contender in 5 years. Even the 71-72 season was exciting due to Gilbert Perrault and Rick Martin. No excitement being generated by the Sabres,

The 71-72 Sabres won only 16 games, the current Sabres are on pace to finish with about that many wins. I don't see where rebuilding means you have to suck, through 9 games this team seems to be moving further back instead of forward.

When does the rebuilding start ? At some point you have to remove all the wrecking balls before you can start rebuilding.

  10. The actual statistics are the Bills lost in overtime. Had the Bills converted the 3 points in the first half, the game would not have gone to overtime as the Bills would have had the lead at the end of regulation. That's the only statistics that are truly relevant.

What are the "made up statistics" exactly? The Marrone defenders seem to want to hang their hats on the fact that those 3 points might have caused both the Bills and the Bengals to play differently somehow, and some strange "Butterfly Effect" would have resulted from history being changed.

The next assumption is that "playing differently" would have been automatically to the benefit of the Bengals. I pointed out that quite the opposite might have been the case - the Bengals having a successful 4-down goalline stand might have invigorated and motivated the Bengals.

It's also possible had the Bills tied the game at that juncture, the Bengals would have lacked the momentum and fire to drive for a touchdown on their next possession. Perhaps the Bills win by 10 points at the end of regulation?

You just can't say, if they would of kicked the FG, they would of won, because if they kicked that FG, they wouldn't of went on 4th and 8 from the Bengals 22 with 10:30 left (Chandler TD), down by 11, more than likely they would of kicked a FG to bring them within 8. It's no "butterfly effect." The play call down there on 4th down, might have not been the right call, but the decision to go for it was IMO.

To go along with all the injuries the Bills have suffered, all the defenses they have faced have been ranked in the top half of the league, including the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ranked defenses. This is a very young team and have been in the position to win every game this season, they are growing and will get much better.

  11. Kaleta has heart bla bla bla. So what? He gets suspended every year. EVERY year.

He's not to be relied on. Get rid of him. He's talked about in every hockey circle and it's not about his heart. He must go.

    He's getting 12 games

It is so much worse that he gets suspended for a half a dozen games out of 82 than if he floated around around the ice for 65 games.

  12. 3 for Elder is nuts. Looked like a good clean hit that the kid didn't absorb well. If he doesn't score 4 the other night is it the same?

Kaleta, eh, hard to tell from the one angle I saw, but if he threw a deliberate elbow to the head he's an idiot and I'd like to change my vote.

I watched it over and over, I can't see how he could have got his elbow up that fast, the last you see of Kaleta's body his arms are still down, I think it was the shoulder that made contact. Still it's Kaleta and Shanahan has to be tough with someone.

As far as getting rid of Kaleta, I'd say no, if half of the players on this team played with the heart Kaleta plays with, they would be in a lot better position than they are now.

  13. I think I predicted 5-11 or 4-12 but either way with Manuel injured this team is done. The Bills should trade Byrd... ASAP

Trading Byrd is not going to be that easy, how many teams are there out there that are going to want to pay a safety $9 Million, especially one that pouts and sits when he doesn't get his way and has an A-hole for an agent. I could care less if Byrd ever steps on the field again for the Bills, but the return on a trade is not going to be as high as some think.

  14. I think Ott would make a great captain, except I would be concerned about what kind of relationship he would have with the refs, Ott is pretty vocal on the ice and may take some liberties with the rules. How will this sit with the refs ?

  15. Manuel's errors yesterday were not all based on the poor team around him or rookie mistakes. He made bad throws. He made terrible pre-snap reads, which can be corrected, but shouldn't need to be in a top-10 pick. The bad throws, though... I can't pin any hopes to this guy. We should be scouting QBs for next April.

I love the idea of a fast paced offense, but there are times when it needs to be slowed down, yesterday, you could see EJ was having trouble, he's a rookie QB facing a Rex Ryan defense that is doing nothing but pinning their ears back and going after the QB, yet EJ is trying to maintain this breakneck pace. Hackett should of had him slow down, take his time and get his reads right and get his head clear. Manuel was running for his life, yet Hackett did nothing to slow the rush, was there a screen pass or hitch thrown all game ? Why after 2 weeks of having success with short quick routes is every pass a fade 20-30 yards down field, Tampa was killing the Jets with quick slants and short passes. Did Hackett give into the "fans" that were crying for a downfield passing attack ? The running game wasn't having success, but you can't totally abandon it. As far as the running game goes, get rid of that read option, I really think that may be the biggest problem with Spiller right now is trying to run out of that or running behind Colin Brown. The read option was a fluke last season and it seems the results are not so good with the teams that are running it this season. I'm willing to give Hackett a chance, but to me, it seems that the play calling has been poor this season and things are going to have to change, beginning with slowing it down enough to where your QB is comfortable and can look over the defense.

  16. It's not about being wrong, it's about making something up just to be part of the conversation. Two very different things. This board was always different because it allowed intelligent discourse from people with a wide range of opinions but always held true to the truth and civility.

If you'll look at the post above yours, you'll see I didn't make it up, when Robviously first posted that Schopp wanted to trade him, I said he may of said that, but I didn't listen long enough, but now it seems that he has it in an article (which I didn't or won't bother reading) he has up. So maybe before you accuse people of "making something up," check all the facts.

  17. How can you post this after your previous post? It's crap like this that ruins it for anyone with an ounce of integrity and a desire to use this site for some informed discussion.

Wow, I'm sorry your Highness, at least I had the "integrity" to admit I may have been wrong, instead of coming up with some excuse or ignoring it. Maybe you should put me on ignore if I'm ruining the "integrity" of your message board.

  18. I only heard the first hour or so of yesterday's show, but Schopp has been saying for while that he wants the Sabres to play Stafford as much as possible to get his trade value up for the deadline. I'm not sure how he would have suddenly switched to "keep Stafford" yesterday. As for everyone else, they've been saying that everyone should be available for a while too.

Honestly, Schoop may have talked about trading him, I only was able to listen for a couple of minutes once I heard Bulldog say he wanted to keep him, I couldn't take any more of it. It seems to me that every talking head on that station flip flops every few days. Unfortunately I can't get 1280 in my house for some reason, so I haven't much choice for sports talk radio.
