I was at the game and people were actually cheering his name "Let's Go Leino!" And they gave him a standing-O when he came out for the shootout. Everytime he had the puck fans shouted "shoooot!!" Sabres fans gave him more support than you would expect and he still refused to shoot the puck or score, and his shootout attempt was a hilariously bad representation of his entire Sabres career.
PTR
I don't think it was as much in support as it was he's become a joke and people were getting in on the comedic routine, known as Ville Leino.
I suggest that Leino becomes the default avatar for SabreSpace. Timmy was good, but he's been gone and it's time to find a new symbol for futility.

You think Crapahan has it rigged? I don't know who I dislike more - Shanahan, or his wimpy boss, Bettman.
Yes.
Tomorrow, there'll be an announcement from the league office that the Buffalo Sabres have forfeited their 1st pick in this years draft, because John Scott was on the ice in Sundays game against the Islanders.

Delauriers just KILLED that poor kid. Oof.
Nice job, haven't seen a Sabre throw those type of jackhammer punches since Kaleta's been gone.
Ville think's he's Tyler Ennis out there.

Pegula bought Roby a Rolex
It wasn't a Rolex in the box, it was a $20 Sabres watch, Paying Leino $4 Million a year makes it hard to afford a Rolex. Pegula did say that they do have a Rolex for Roby though, nice gesture.

Assist for Knapp thats awesome! move him to forward too!
Only 1 less than Matt Ellis.

Jamie "Orr" McBain.
Maybe that is why Nolan doesn't want Scott to fight. Ouch.

It's finally going to be over, what a terrible season, not many bright spots. Hiring Patty and Teddy made it seem like a good thing was going to be happening for the Sabres, but seems to have gone down, or going down the drain also. As bad as the season was, these last 2/3 weeks have been the worse I can remember in 40+ years. Hopefully the future is a lot brighter.
Have a great offseason everyone one and GO BILLS.
Thank you 26 CB for all the effort you put in to starting these GDT's with all the info of the upcoming game. Great job.

Maybe he's trying to end the ridiculous excuse-making this team and its fans have been doing for years. Not having a whining, sniveling jooooke behind the bench is pretty refreshing.
Having a Dick Jauron clone is not. Maybe if Nolan would stick up for his players once in a while, I'd feel different.

Teddy quit on the season too. Nice job coach.
Agreed

On McCabe hit................... "It's just one of those things"............... COME ON NOLAN!!!
Disgusting response, the man talks about passion, yet he refuses to show any, no matter what injustices are done to his team.

McBain definitely tripped him and it is a freak accident that could happen to anyone... but he was still driving the net pretty hard on the play.
This is partly why it happened IMO, even though McBain did trip him, it happened right outside the blue paint and chances are there would of been some kind of collision with Hackett even without the trip. Teams have/had no fear of crashing the net and possibly taking out the goalie.
If Scott got Chara 10 mins just for talking, then he did his job and did it well. I will take that tradeoff all day, any day. As for the McCabe penalty, I wonder what it looked like at full speed. I don't think he will be suspended, but I can see an innocent mistake on that one.
I can't buy into the refs making an "innocent mistake" on that call, it wasn't something that happened away from the play, Paille had just gotten rid of the puck and McCabe hit him dead in his chest, he didn't throw an elbow or leap off his feet. If the refs didn't see it, then they have no business making up a call.

I was watching, but I did not see what John Scott did to earn a game misconduct. Maybe I need glasses. :flirt:

Hopefully Hackett make it out of tonight's Bruins game without getting injured.

Charley Casserly knows QB's, he's the GM that grabbed Heath Shuler with the #3 pick and years later made David Carr the #1 pick overall.

What will they do without the Teppo Numminem coached "power play" ?
-
He's mailed it in since the deadline and still been one of the best d-men out there. I don't see it.
He's a -15 since the trade deadline.

When Hank is bringing the puck up the ice, can you really call it a "rush" ?

WGR talking heads in love with Ebron this morning, I'm not so sure about Ebron, especially at #9. He may run like a WR, but he also blocks like a WR. Tyler Eifert went 21st last year and Ebron is no Tyler Eifert, IMO.

It's good to see Stafford back in the lineup (I'd bet that's something that nobody ever expected to see posted on this board). Ennis and Hodgson battling for the point lead on the Sabres. Hodgson 6 points in the last 5 games (43 points), Ennis 4 points in the last 5 games (42 points). Hodgson has been rejuvenated since moving to the wing, it looks like he's giving effort playing there, something that was missing for the past couple of months.

True, but they are also coming off of injuries and are probably not 100%
I have a feeling they are under strict orders from management, probably coming from the NHL, not to "goon things up" against teams in the playoffs/playoff hunt
We have seen how the NHL treats Sabres players (Kaleta, Scott, etc.) that try and stick up for teammates and fight back
Even so, how much can they take ? Along with the Hackett trip, Foligno got big time 'slew footed' and the ref wasn't the only one that did nothing about it.

Maybe we need to pair Gus up with the "German Gretzky" (aka the "Deutschland Dangler").
As long as we keep him away from the Finnish Flop (#23).

I don't think Enroth and Hackett are out because of being run? I think it is just bad luck
Maybe the intent wasn't there to injure, but both Enroth and Lieuwen got hurt because the opposing players had no fear of crashing the net without any concerns of taking out the Sabres goalie. Also in both cases the player that 'caused the injury' did not even receive a dirty look from the Sabres players. I just can't see either of those incidents going unnoticed on any other team.

Helm had no problem taking down Hackett tonight.
The Sabres and their coach also had no problem looking the other way. "Hey look up there, it's Sabretooth".

Beautiful goal by Gus, made watching this game almost worth it.
Leino needs to go!

In the 19 years the NHL has used the lottery system to determine the team that get's the #1 pick, only 6 times has the team that finished with the worst record picked first. "Tank on".
