  1. Yes -- I hope the Sabres pursue him. He's a good player and he's tough and fast.
  2. Great conversation. Nicely done.
  3. Or unless they don't think whomever they lose is much of a player, and they are proven right about him.
  4. I don't think people are declining the vaccine out of selfishness or stupidity, although in a large nation of course there will be some of that. I think the hesitation arises primarily from 2 factors: - concern about the safety of the vaccine itself, since it was developed and produced at a greatly accelerated pace, the mRNA vaccines are using a new technology that hasn't been used in any previous vaccine, and there is no data on side effects/safety over the long term. - distrust of public health authorities given numerous dishonest statements over the course of the pandemic that have been justified after the fact by "we knowingly issued XYZ untrue statement because we thought it was best for public health." Hopefully, both concerns will be alleviated over time and vaccination rates will rise -- which is why I'm curious about how long it's taken historically for other vaccines to reach, say, 90% of the eligible population.
  5. Playoff hockey is not nearly as good as playoff basketball. Playoff OT should be 4-on-4 after the 1st OT period. The size of the goalie equipment is the single biggest reason the NHL has fallen far behind the NFL and the NBA in popularity, and that gap will continue to grow unless and until the NHL either enlarges the nets or materially shrinks the goalie equipment. Any head shot should result in a game misconduct, regardless of intent or whether the recipient was hunched over, with a suspension for repeat offenders. Dan Dunleavy is a good guy and will develop over time into a good replacement for RJ. Jacob Bryson has the 2nd-best offensive skills of any Sabres defenseman. There is way too much GD music and other canned noise played at NHL games. It results in an artificial and generic feel. The goal horn in particular is an abomination.
  6. Such a great movie. Peak Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones.
  7. If the Sabres effectively swap Eichel for Landeskog and Newhook we should build a statue of KA outside the arena.
  8. I’d be interested to know how quickly other vaccines (measles, TB, etc) were adopted on a mass scale.
  9. A failure to bring in a goalie by tomorrow does not mean that no goalie will be brought in. It just means that KA won't have made a move in time for a deadline that may or may not have any real meaning here.
  10. Borgen will develop into a respectable NHL defenseman, but it will be for the Sabres, as KA figures out a way to get Seattle not to take him. Eichel will be traded this summer for KA's bare minimum, and most here will be between PO'd and outraged at the return. Reino and Risto will also be traded this summer. For most here, the return will be disappointing for Reino and OK for Risto. Both will go on to be very solid players for their new teams, albeit a bit expensive. @Weave is correct that the Sabres will be better next year without Eichel, Reino and Risto. KA will bring in 1, but not 2, real NHL goalies. Ullmark will leave in FA. Olofsson is a good, and improving, NHL forward. Artuu will develop into a no-BS top-6 winger, and in so doing will turn out to be a low-key very good move by JB. The Sabres will draft Power #1. KA is a very savvy guy who has seen a ton of the NHL from different perspectives and will turn out to be a good GM.
  11. Gotta disagree with this.
  12. Not surprising, and an indicator that they are very unlikely to make a deal with KA to take Skinner.
  13. Maybe they don’t have a deal in place for them to take Miller, but something like this helps KA make a deal with Seattle to take anyone except Borgen.
  14. I know he’s not coming here, but he would be a fantastic addition. Not everyone needs to be the same age — some vets are needed to take the pressure off of the kids. Also, there aren’t going to be that many teams with the cap space to give him, say, $8MM x 5 years.
  15. Per the Athletic today, Colorado and Landeskog, who is 29 and a UFA, are very far apart on an extension. Hello KA.
  16. I would give Pilut to Seattle in a heartbeat to take Skinner, but I don’t think that would be enough for them.
  17. I agree that Seattle won’t take him without the Sabres sweetening the pot, but that could happen, and Skinner might require less sweetening than you think. Maybe if the Sabres swap draft slots with Seattle, plus expose Risto?
  18. I will be very surprised if Risto is exposed.
  19. Interesting. From Skinner’s perspective I don’t think he would waive unless he were OK with Seattle taking him. And I wouldn’t be surprised if Adams, as part of his reset of the team culture, were trying to work out a deal with Seattle to take him.
  20. Link? I don't think this is correct.
  21. This. Remember when everyone was so sure that the Habs were crazy for trading PK for Weber? I'll predict that the Keith trade makes the Oilers a better team. Keith still knows what to do and he still has enough juice in his legs to play -- he averaged over 23 min per game last season. Edmonton gave up a 24-year-old defenseman whose ice time has dropped from almost 20 min to 14 min to 13.5 min per game over the last 3 years. I would've traded one of the Sabres' glut of lower-pairing defensemen for Keith in a heartbeat.
  22. I think this is the way it will shake out except that Bjork will be protected instead of Asplund.
  23. If Vegas is the trade partner and we need to take back salary, which will almost certainly be the case, I'd like it to be MAF. He is exactly what the Sabres need.
  24. Those last 2 fights were promising but anticlimactic and disappointing.
  25. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Good card so far.
