    After looking at this trade more it sounds like they really wanted Asplund and to do this deal to move up require Pysyk and the two picks. I still think Psysk is a better steady d-man than Kulikov is. Little shocked by the deal. But if you really wanted a player you sometimes have to overpay.

    I'm not sure if I really like this trade. Pysyk is solid d-man and I think we got taken on this deal.

    I'm hoping Murray can get this deal done. It definetly got more interesting since he plays with Jack and they train together. It's really not much risk in losing one of the thirds when you still have 3 left. If Vesey signs before the draft which I hope happens that might alter the Sabres #8 pick unless Murray is still looking to move up. I could see Ennis, Pysyk and Girgs plus the #8 all involved in a deal.

    It's going to be great having a team here in Las Vegas. Your telling me you wouldn't want to do a trip to the entertainment capital of the world to see your team play. I know they will be bad the first couple of seasons but it's going to be great for this city and hockey community.

    Me too I think he's better than Matthews. Plus remember wasn't the other Finn who will probably go third overall leading the world juniors in points. All 3 seem to be top end talent. It will be interesting what Murray has up his sleeve on or before draft day.

    I absolutely would love Tkachuk but don't think he will be there. I think it's going to be that Russian defenseman or possibly Nylander when we draft and I don't know if Murray takes either of them.

    . You think the Finnish defenseman will be off the board before we pick? Plus do you think Edmonton moves that 4th pick for a proven d-man?

    I think he makes a pick in the first round. How $hitty would they be to host the draft and you trade away the pick. Unless something just blows him away.

    Now if your GM Murray and both of the defenseman are off the board besides the Russian defenseman. Do you think Murray picks him as it doesn't seem like he is big on Russians. I'm hoping the Finnish d-man is there when we pick but I highly doubt it. Who do you guys think we grab or do you think Murray gets creative and moves up a few spots.

    I'm a fan of Laine and the other two Finns. Laine is going to make Toronto think big time.

    I'm high on Matthews, Tkachuck and all 3 Finns. It's possible that when we draft all 3 defenseman might be gone. I'm like Murray I don't know about drafting a Russian defenseman.

    It's kinda tough when you have one guy leading rookies in points, a defenseman with a 15 game point streak which helped philly turn it around and McDavid who was at a point per game pace and would probably be Calder winner if he wasn't injured or possibly been challenging Kane for the point title.

    Your trying to sell the game to the US market. Sorry call me crazy but hockey is 4th or 5th of the major sports in the US. How many times did NBC or CSNBC show McDavid? The game will always sell in Canada but in some of these US cities like Arizona, Carolina and even Florida before Jagr got their these are struggling franchises. Could you imagine what a player like McDavid would have done for Arizona. Ticket sales up and they would have more prime time games for them but he goes to Edmonton and has zero games on prime television for the US market. That's bad for the league in my opinion. Even if Toronto didn't win the lottery they would still sell out to watch that crap team. Geez Shanahan works for the NHL and then takes president of a struggling original 6 team, they steal a coach right from under us and then look #1 overall pick. How ironic.

    I personally think the NHL should have had Arizona win the lottery that way the home town kid plays at home and what better way to help out a struggling franchise. They will probably lose Hanzal in the offseason and their goes another one of their better players plus with the West being so tough anyway they really need all the help they can get. All these teams in Canada won't be affected with where ever these teams pick. These teams will always fill those arenas. If you are trying to grow the game in the US this is the worst possible scenario to have.

    I agree with Hamilton on this but having these top 3 players and 2 going to Canadian markets does nothing for the league to grow the game in the US. I was really hoping Arizona would have won #1. NHL will never learn that's why it's 4th or 5th in the major sports. I would be thrilled with Tkachuk
