  1. I'd love to hear Irv report on the current wildfire situation.
  2. Thank you sir.
  3. Briere has to realize that he has, at best, the third most attractive option on the goalie market. If he loves Hart, he'd sign him to a 7x7, since the easiest piece to rebuild around is a goalie, the Flyers are going to have plenty of space, and that represents a major raise for Hart. Briere isn't doing that, and he knows that Hellebuyck and Saros are better. I think he'd jump at some of the proposals that you're dismissing.
  4. The race track is a GREAT idea if it's open.

  6. Ours just don't blow like yours do.
  7. The players are correct. The pick is not. Rene Robert was that moment for me. I was furious.
  8. Please link this here. I need it. Please.
  9. Well then "Flyers guy" can take a flying leap, because NFW.
  10. Do you think tier 3 is an improvement on the existing situation? I'm not sure I do or don't. Your first two tiers are. But Adams won't bring Ullmark back (perhaps out of stubbornness but I'd hope because of intra-divisional trade) and Swayman is not going anywhere. So that leaves Hart or Demko. Demko has the right contract term, but because of that, he's going to cost more in a trade. Hart is the right guy in tier 2. In tier 1, we find the Sabres overpaying, I think. I have wanted Hellebuyck on this team since his WJC season, and I'd still love him here. But with Levi in the wings, I'd be unwilling to overspend on one season of Hellebyuck. (Hart, on the other hand, who also has only one season, I think can be had more reasonably and as part of a package). Saros, it really depends on what they want. I haven't seen so much of him.
  11. WTF continent are you from?
  12. Yeah. Head north and put out some fires.
  13. I am astonished that Luce placed that low. But hey, I got it. So I'm gonna ask an easier one, so that someone else can have a turn: In 1995, the Sabres traded Alexander Mogilny to Vancouver for two players and a pick. The pick was 14 overall, that is, first round, in the 1995 draft. Name the players AND the player that the Sabres selected with the pick.
  14. It's Hajt then. The two were always +/- darlings.
  15. I think this is the way the deal gets done, if Adams wants to do it. Send what is viewed (correctly or not so) as a "premium" asset, which is disposable to the Sabres, for Hart and more. I'd prefer Hellebyuck, as any sane person should, but he's going to cost considerably more, for three reasons: (1) He's a consistent Vezina candidate; (2) Winnipeg is not in rebuild mode (it should be but isn't); and (3) Cheveldayoff, while an idiot, is not a rookie GM.
  16. I would be unwilling to trade any of the aforementioned players for Hart other than Savoie (I am not as high on him as most people are--and more on that in a minute), Rosen, and Östlund. #13 certainly is in play, especially with @LGR4GM's evaluation of this draft pool. And some of these would need to be in packages with more coming back to the Sabres. Johnson is untradeable due to lack of D depth, not because he's going to light the world on fire like Canada has. Östlund straight up? Sure. Rosen straight up? Maybe. MAYBE. As others have noted, the Sabres will need cheaper players in a few years, and I do think Rosen will be a contributor at the NHL level in 2024-25 ish. Savoie is interesting. His ceiling, IMO, is no other than the GM of the Flyers himself, Danny Briere. And I don't think Savoie will get there, but Danny just might see enough of himself in the kid to give the Sabres Hart, Grans, and some other piece (9/10D maybe?). #13OA is another opportunity to get more than just Hart out of the trade. It doesn't have to be about packaging assets to get Hart. It can be about sending a more valuable asset--at young forward, where the Sabres are overstocked--and getting a package back.
  17. Just for clarification: This is someone who already was retired as of 1987? If so, I'm going to take a stab at it with Don Luce.
  18. It's pretty neat. It's like Perreault being on the cover of SI.
  19. I don't think he played enough without injury to be properly evaluated AND I don't think it matters. Comrie is an unknown. If you feel that Hart is a B+ goalie or that Hellebyuck is an A+ goalie, you have to bring them in over an unknown. Yes, there is a somewhat small chance that Comrie could turn out to be better than Hart, and yes, there is a minuscule chance that he could turn out to be better than Hellebyuck, but the Sabres are no longer at the stage where they should be kicking tires. They need to buy a good car now. If they know they can get a good or great one, they should do so, even if it means that the model still in development at the factory is abandoned.
  20. Calling @LGR4GM. Liger to the Hart thread, please.
  21. There is a big difference between a tank and a rebuild.
  22. Every once in a while someone starts a trivia thread...it's always fun...I certainly can't claim any credit.
  23. As usual I don't get the meme...
  24. Ooooh good call on Leach.
  25. Right? I think there are plenty of people who would be fine with 13 for Hellebyuck.
