  1. Lynda also has some classes, although I haven't looked much into it yet. It's crazy how many resources are out there!
  2. Have you looked into Coursera at all? Lots of good stuff there at varying price ranges (mostly a monthly subscription model and you work at your own pace from what I've seen so far). I tried Codecademy but their Python intro course has so many bugs I got frustrated with it after a while.
  3. No worries; it's a bummer the Thursday and Friday threads can't be set to automatically lock and unlock so you guys don't have to do it every week! Thanks for all you do to keep this place running. ?
  4. Some good friends of mine have been going through a super-stressful period trying to simultaneously sell their home, purchase a new home, move, and get ready for a baby that is due next week. While things were hairy for a bit with the home purchase, everything finally came together and I've been helping them move into their gorgeous new house in the mountains the past few days. I'm definitely jealous, but I'm so happy for them that everything is working out. And amen to what dark said. I'm glad a friend convinced me to re-subscribe to NHL.TV this season. ?
  5. Friday thread is still locked after 4pm ET, but it's pretty awesome that the Sabres are actually fun to watch again. ?
  6. Trust me, I was tempted to drive there myself! 60% open on natural snow only?! I will definitely go at some point this season, though.
  7. I went to A-Basin yesterday and Loveland today. ?
  8. I swear this was locked until a few minutes ago! So back in mid-August our crappy ex-employee quit with zero notice and had managed to convince my boss that myself and the one other co-worker here were the reason she left, where the truth was likely that she used us to pay for her to get a certification that allowed her to get a higher-paying job and she quit because she's an a-hole. Last Friday I found out that apparently she left parting comments to the division continuing to claim we were the problem, and now I have to spend 3 full days next month attending "Crucial Conversations" training. Yesterday I found out my boss secretly posted the position that last year she wanted to promote me into. F this place.
  9. It's late afternoon on a Thursday and the Complaint thread is still locked...
  10. You continue to be an incredible human being.
  11. No, it's a pretty eclectic soundtrack with everything from country/blues/rock to ballads and pop/R&B music. Lady Gaga is obviously the more talented singer of the two, but it blows me away that Bradley Cooper literally learned to play acoustic and electric guitar for the movie. I'm no country fan and I really enjoyed it, so I'd say unless the main song in the trailer does nothing for you, it's worth a watch.
  12. Oh man, I missed this before but I definitely recommend going!! I went to one two years ago when they were in Denver, and it was so much fun.
  13. Absolutely. I saw it last Friday, and I've had the soundtrack stuck in my head ever since.
  14. Maybe, but Vail is way worse, and Steamboat is SO PRETTY.
  15. This has been one of those weeks where I've lost countless hours to fighting with either robots or electronics that don't seem to want to work, and it's driving me bonkers. My car apparently has some kind of transmission defect that's causing it to think it's not in park and lock the key in the ignition, which is fun. Hoping they'll agree to pay for that repair tomorrow morning. And I've been trying to do some online courses for certifications as I work on beefing up my resume to have more options for where I want to go next, but I'm so stuck on this one class. Was going fine initially, but the instructor shows how to do something using his machine with Unix, and doesn't explain how to find the correct file path / location settings for running elsewhere. I've been searching all kinds of things to try and figure it out myself, and after hours of searching I can't figure it out. It's demoralizing and makes me question why I'm bothering to try at all. (Anyone know anything about running Python in a Windows environment???) And the exercise routine I'd managed to get into over the summer went down the drain in Sept., so now I'm trying to get back into it again. Always a struggle.
  16. I did Whiteface with a ski group trip years ago, but I was too inexperienced to really appreciate it. Lake Placid is a cool little town, though. I didn't think to ask this before, but is there any reason you couldn't just transfer over the bindings from one of your existing pair of skis temporarily to the new ones when you wanted to use them? Or are they shaped or sized differently for the racing skis?
  17. Yeah, lots of places I have yet to visit! I want to check out Aspen and Snowmass at some point, but it gets hard to justify the cost of lift tickets after dropping so much on season passes when I can ride prepaid at other resorts. Plus Aspen is too far for a day trip, so lodging starts to add up fast. ? But they do a nice late season discounted weekend (spring fling in early April), so if the snow is better this year I might try to make it.
  18. I like to ride a bunch of different places, which is part of why I have a hard time picking passes every year, lol... favorites are Copper, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, and Keystone. I haven't ridden Breckenridge or Beaver Creek yet (the former is on my pass this coming season). Wolf Creek and Steamboat are both awesome, but too far away to be regular destinations for me. And I need to ride Crested Butte this year before Vail ruins it.
  19. Oof, one of the (admittedly few) things I miss about the East coast... Vail and Alterra have turned into Coke vs Pepsi out here and are buying up everything, and one season pass (for one mountain) is rarely under $400. Much like paying for cable vs streaming, I wish I could choose to make my own pass with the mountains I like (which are a combo of ones owned by the two groups) rather than having to do all or nothing. I've easily spent $800 each of the last two seasons on ski passes. ??
  20. ? Either your passes were a whole lot less than mine, or you got some fancy boots!
  21. My snowboarding boots cost more than my board, lol.
