  1. He was saddled with a HC that got 6 wins. Moves like Taylor Hall were likely done at behest of RK. I'm willing to brush off 2020 for that reason. Now he has his coach and his vision.
  2. Happens with the Bills all the time. People sweetie they were done after 17 years and no playoffs. Start winnng, draft the greatest QB in a generation and look what happens.
  3. Year one of being fully in charge of the team. Not making decisions based on Ralph Krueger's wishes.
  4. This is the rub. I think Kevyn Adams has been more than competent. He's now in charge of the Sabres, not like last year when he had to back up the head coach he inherited. So to say he's exhibited poor management after half an offseason is ludicrous. He got good value for Risto, okay value on Sam, and he's not getting railroaded by the fans, media or other GMs with Eichel. I don't know if he even tried to sign any major free agents but he's expressed a desire to go with youth and have them develop. We won't be making the playoffs but if we show improvement and be at least entertaining to watch, that's a good step in year one. You can't erase the last ten years. You have to recover one small step at a time. The last thing we need is another reboot over imagined failures.
  5. Exacerbated by incompetence. Not that different.
  6. As long as he's also good at preventing 50-60 pts it's a wash.
  7. Went to see Modest Mouse in Boston Friday. This was the only brand of water sold at the venue.
  8. I think when he saw the country club RK was running, Hall decided to mail it in. No expectations.
  9. With all due respect to @pi2000, to quote wins and losses as a measure of Granato without taking the multiple challenges involved he faced into account is a bit disingenuous. The eye test, which we are so fond of, made it obvious things were changing. As the Sabres stand right now, we might not win a lot of games but I would consider not finishing in the bottom 10 and being a tough win for opponents a good first year.
  10. Rangers GM Drury: "We were never that interested in Jack Eichel." 🤣https://www.foreverblueshirts.com/chris-drury-telling-agents-the-rangers-have-never-been-seriously-interested-in-jack-eichel/
  11. Seth Jones doesn't need a new neck.
  12. So Kakko and a 1st with the Sabres retaining some salary?
  13. Unless another viable goalie shakes loose before the season begins, I think some combo of UPL, Anderson and Dell is what we go with. But I think UPL will be given the chance to stick.
  14. They have some good goaltending prospects but no one obviously ready to step in now. My guess is UPL will be the starter with Anderson as the 1-B and mentor. The Sabres will just have to score more.
  15. Anderson can play a few games without UPL looking over his shoulder. He wasn't, but that could have been due to injury. Aside from his first game in Buffalo, he looked pretty good.
  16. He might be here to ease UPL into the NHL. Vet presence and all that.
  17. Futurama Jack, with his head in a jar on a robot skater body.
  18. They want to stick a metal or plastic thing in his neck, wait 6 weeks, then let him get driven head first into the boards?? It seems ludicrous. Especially when you compare the 6-9 month healing time these other surgeons recommend.
  19. Listen to Hour One of the Instigators today. Petey runs through the opinions of other neurosurgeons on the topic of ADR vs Fusion for athletes in high-impact sports. Let's just say Dr. Prusmack's take isn't the only one. Something I wish journalists like Elliotte Freidman would consider. Fast forward to the 11 minute mark: https://www.audacy.com/wgr550/podcasts/the-instigators-20259
  20. No, but how do you give your talented players like Mittelstadt and Dahlin a chance? By having your less talented players bust tail forcing turnovers. Are we rooting for this?
  21. Only to fans. There's "won't allow players to get medical treatment." Then there's "won't let players dictate to their team's medical staff." To say the Sabres are denying medical care to Jack Eichel is to completely misrepresent what's going on. I doubt any NHL team would appreciate how Eichel is handing his neck issue. You know we harp on the Sabres for "caving" on trades, yet here we are doing the exact same thing.
  22. Pretty much what Granato was shooting for last year. When you have youth, you might lack talent and experience but you do have endurance and speed. Put it to use by pressuring your opponent non-stop. They'll get burned but they'll also get plenty of scoring chances. Watch the last 20 games.
  23. The Eichel camp put out the charm offensive with that news dump Friday and the "coincidental" Dr. Prusmak interview by Elliotte Freidman. They are garnering sympathy among fans with hope of pressuring the rookie GM to take whatever deal is offered. Frankly I'm disappointed in Freidman for being a pawn here. He owes it to everyone to get the Sabres side out there too.
