If you can't get value in a hockey trade for Byram, what are you getting for picks? Sounds to me if you're converting Byram to picks and then a trade, you are losing value and will end up with less.

It could be Adams got tired of waiting for someone to make a serious offer. This Byram saga may have hindered getting one of the remaining free agent forwards signed. Good for the Sabres. They wouldn't have done this if Byram wasn't open to staying.

No trigger here. UPL's decline, in my opinion, way caused by him trying too hard stop scoring chances off turnovers. He went back to overplaying the puck and getting himself out of position. Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers! Which makes me happy that the Sabres made moves to address this issue with d-men who are strong with the puck.

So he didn't like the losing culture to which he contributed to.
