  1. It has an effect. Losing hurts the most but don't kid yourself. The sunny, low-tax markets have an advantage. This isn't the 1980's NHL anymore.
  2. We didn't talk much about Jarmo Kekalainen, but he's part of the front office now.
  3. No disagreement from me. As for Tuch, I'm sure he's got one skate out the door. But I think he's giving the Sabres this year to give him a reason to stay. Same for a Dahlin and Tage. I also think 14 years, plus being cold and high tax Buffalo, makes it that much harder. I don't believe there is a lack of desire on Adams part to make a big swing. It's convincing players to come here.
  4. I don't follow every transaction. And when things like that pop up on my feed, I assume it just happened. I need to check first.
  5. 😂😂😂 Busted! Yes, I'm Mike Harrington. Hack journalist and supporter of all things Pegula. I'm surprised I got away with this ruse as long as I did. 😂😂😂 Maybe current Kraken GM Jason Botterill should have been more proactive, no? Not just with Ullmark.
  6. Funny, I clearly recall folks right here saying Ullmark wasn't good enough as a Sabre. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
  7. Leinonen with a 2nd. But with goalies it's so hit or miss, a 5 or a 6 has as much of a chance.
  8. You're right. 2020 and 2021, no goalies. But one in '22, one in '23, one in '24 and two in '25.
  9. You keep changing the topic. First it was "he's not addressing goaltending now." Now it's "he didn't the past 5 years" which is also not true. He did commit to UPL but he also traded for Devon Levi. He's drafted goalies every year. (Leinonen, Ratzlaff, Leenders, Meloche, Prokhorov) So to say Adams is doing nothing is demonstrably false. You may not like it or agree with what he's doing but that's a different argument. And this year in particular, the Sabres are beefing up their defense which should help the goaltending out considerably. Over and over people talk about addressing goaltending in the abstract. Gotta get that magical guy who'll be awesome! Who that is is rarely identified or is a player who's team would never trade away. (Even an offer they can't refuse, which no one ever articulates what that is.)
  10. By the time Byram and Timmins get their arbitration awards, and Levi is signed, the Sabres will have less than $4MM in cap left. Maybe they sign a middle 6 type free agent forward. Then the complaint will shift from "why aren't we spending to the cap?" to "why are we spending our cap on these guys?"
  11. You named one goalie who didn't leave Vancouver. What exactly is an offer the Canucks can't refuse? It's easy to come to with hypotheticals. It's another to make them happen. If you didn't like Gibson, then Adams got the next best free agent goalie available. In other words, he addressed the need. You may not like it, but he addressed it.
  12. I didn't know and it was the lead headline on the Athletics' NHL page today.
  13. It was the lead NHL headline on my Athletic feed today. Fooled me.
  14. The Blues just traded Zack Bolduc to Montreal for defenseman Logan Mailloux. Would getting Bolduc been enough for Byram one-for-one?
  15. Blues trade Zack Bolduc to Canadiens for defenseman Logan Mailloux. I guess St.Louis has moved on.
  16. If no top 6 forwards are signing here, I don't care if Byram gets paid for a year or two. They have the cap. Spend it
  17. The Sabres could win 5 Stanley Cups in a row and their value wouldn't be affected by that. The Sabres are worth what they are worth because of market size. They will always be the #29-31 team in the NHL. But NHL franchise values keep rising. So win or lose, the Sabres are worth $1.15B according to Forbes. Probably more next year. But that's kind of bad news because the value of the franchise is beyond what anyone else would pay to keep the team here. You have groups that wouldn't think twice of paying a billion plus for the Sabres and another billion to the league to relocate them.
  18. Getting upset upset over feelings. Why isn't Byram forcing a trade ala Peterka now if he wants out so bad?
  19. Couldn't Terry sell stakes in the Sabres and pick up a couple hundred mil? There are arena updates on the horizon too.
  20. That could happen. But look at the last few trades that included picks. Montreal had to give up two mid round fists and Emil Heineman to get a signed Noah Dobson.
