Legislation in the form of incentives can help especially on college campuses and with corporate hirung. I am not sure it as prescient as you say. WI has always been close... Gore won it by 4,000 votes. HRC underperformed badly there. One obvious area was the Reservations, specifically the Menominee Reservation. I organized that Reservation, which is the size of a WI county and from what I remember carriers both distinctions, Reservation and County. Gore received around 12,000 votes.... HRC 4500... She lost the coalition that Dems need to win those states because she ignored men in her message, especially on economic policy. Her economic ideas would have targeted all folks... but her talking points ignored men. African American males, native American males and White males... She may not have won all of the those demographics, but she ignored them and they underperformed her predecessors to her detriment. Like football, to be successful, you first have to win the games you are supposed too. Bottom line, she didn't prepare for those battles and paid the price imo.

It is interesting that a Fed grant is going to allow our community hospital to build an addition for a walk in 24-7 out patient clinic to separate out those who use the ER as their primary care facility, from those who are actually critical. These patients dont want or trust the doc in a box clinics that have sprouted up or cant use them because of their 9-5 schedule because they are working class. They need to be able to go one place for their medical needs onntheir schedule.

Welcome to my life in an Urban hospital, been going on for a long time. ACA and the merging of support for local community hospitals has helped stem the tide of closing in our area. Again not an easy issue and agree the hodge podge as well intentioned as it is, has created as many problems as it tried to address. I too would love to see these issues solved in less a one size fits all and more well thought out manner. Unfortunately as a former political that process is less than ideal, no matter your perspective. Keep up the good work and maybe more rational minds can find practicle solutions that work.

Dems need a perceived moderate on economy to spread out base witha lift all up message. Devisive interest group economic politics dont work for them any better than Republicans and economically Trump isnt seen as an ideologue in that respect.
