  1. Fair enough, sounded a little weird coming from you because I consider you a knowledgeable hockey fan that understands that most of us understand the game despite the cough cough partisan devide. Good luck tonite rooting for your Leafs as we root for our Sabres and lets hope for an interesting game... Go Sabres.
  2. Look like JBots trying to get a feel for guys in system and likelihood of taking the next step
  3. First off Marchand wasnt elite when he began... he got better... I see Kadri progressing maybe not at that level but definetly aa better scorer than originally thought. Yes he and Marchand are rats.. And the Sabres only have poor version in Larrson... so of course you hate the other teams rats, especially talented ones. You act like that is something you should teach us... Read NFreeman’s post... Sabres having Kadri would be a boone of course... that he is on the Leafs is reason enough for a Sabres fan to hate.
  4. He was referring to after the fact, by then you have a virus... installing nurses will get you the virus.
  5. God, I have played that way in beer league, its tough, but we actually won, one of those games. Goalie got injured and it took a while to find a replacement... tough to find someone to play 10:30 at night on random days.
  6. And he probably isn't playing just any beer league, but the top division more or less in the area. Plays on two teams, maybe two different levels 2-3 games a week. A lot of former AHLers, college guys play in those leagues. Not NHL, but not without guys who can shoot... just maybe not skate as well.
  7. Sabres need a very good goaltender to be competitive next year... just saying... either Ullmark or someone else through probably a trade.
  8. Except their are plenty of guys playing semi-pro ball to reach out to. You should see all the teams in southern NY and Mass that I have had to x-ray... mostly hand or knee sprains, still they are out there.
  9. He was eligible to play for either team, should they have two injuries. It was part of a rule change two years ago... Forget the circumstances.
  10. You are talking Carrion League right? No way they beat Nashville... 2 more losses pretty much seals the deal... just saying. 3 losses guarantees at least 4th pick.
  11. Paging Dark... oh Dark get your backside to Rochester... :w00t:
  12. Yes, this team is not as bad as the 48 point team... still we did not expect them to be this bad... borderline playoff team most folks said... it has been a big disappointment. The lack of scoring has been frustrating. I am hopeful with a maturing Mittelstadt and Nylander hopefully with Oloffson and CJ Smith coming, maybe the Sabres can mature. If they can draft Dhalin and next year have two first rounders with JBOTs eye toward development, this team will be better. But as of now, it is still gonna be another two years unless some of the young guys take a big step forward next year. Right now I don't see too many signs of it, though Ghule and Nelson have been nice additions. Sabres have a lot of work to do in the off season before I learn to like their play.
  13. Basically this... thought after missing the backcheck on the wings first goal he got a little tentative til he started picking it up again. Looked like not lost but not comfortable where he should be and deciding how fast he should transition out. Looked like he deferred a lot. As others have said, it will come with time as he gets more comfortable, but yes he showed his hands a couple of times. Will need to get used to the close checking and time and space issues. Looked like he was asking a lot of questions on the bench... a good thing.
  14. Really bet he was trying for an own goal.
  15. Lehner should never be allowed to play puck along wall.
  16. Goal on first shift
  17. Intersting Crisco is back practicing... always forget about him and his speed. It’d be nice if he pans out.
  18. Unfortunately water under the bridge at this point. Hopefully the Sharks win the whole thing then fall off the cliff with their old guys and Sabres get a least one lottery pick or two next year. Again JBots seems to rebuilding the right way now and hope he keeps it going.
  19. Shrooms were good last nite huh?
  20. Exactly what I was trying to get at. Hot streaks and slumps can overexagerrate a players value both from a positive or negative way. Data smooths out the noise. Or it can account for variability and historical swings in a players play. It still wont account for recovery from one time injuries short term. TRpm is a good start but flawed in evaluating a players performance and value and doesnt account swings. Sabres got in trouble with Stafford because of this... that being said a player on a hot streak is valuable when on a hot streak or not. Itd be nice to see if there was a predictor or likelihood of such play and coaches and GMs could factor in that expectation and adjust accordingly. Sam’s current hot streak.. though is it sustainable because of player growth... contract year or just a hot streak?
  21. Again it is only a snap shot in time, unless like ROR on faceoffs he has been doing it a long time. Guys who play against best offensive guys or penalty kills are intuitively gonna give up more goals. Guys who are sheltered to go against less stong defensemen will generally have higher plus minus if they have good offensive skills. Overall team + - means more to me than individuals over 1 season. Eg Stafford comes to mind in a contract year. Teams get suckered into giving these guys big contracts for 1 seasons performance v consistent over and I am not sure where the significance increases 2 or 3 years that plus minus becomes more telling. Dadnov is a good example; does he keep it up, does playoff hockey effect his performance and do any other guys have good playoffs but mediocre regular season. Ovi has been inconsistent in the playoffs. Does TRpm mean much with one year of data or can a player adjust and get better or worse. Again, why Flagg suggests there is a data set issue. Not that it doesnt mean anything, but its significance may not mean as much as we would all like. It would be easier. More data is always better. Figuring out the right weighting is as well. Can you tell me what weighting you use. You probably already stated it but humor me and remind me.
  22. LOL to each his own, who knows, maybe he has bigger sense of humor than you think. Could be his father is Steve Martin!!
  23. Appreciate the attempt and think it provides a glimpse, but as Flagg implied a shortage of info can really skew these stats short term. TRpm may be a better stat as a longer term predictor after a few years of data, but hard to use for a developing player.
