  1. Really feeling a lot of positive energy out of Ink.

It is what it is. Our prospects are Risto, Zadorov, Reinhart, Compher, McCabe, Lemieux, Fasching, and maybe Armia. I don't have any hope for any of the rest. No one else should.

    That's going too far.

I think for-sure NHLers include Reinhart, Lemieux, Compher...

    OK maybe you're right

    Nail meet hammer :)

It was pretty much that he's their goalie of the future.

Clearly hadn't seen him play in at least a couple of years.

Yeah that coupled with the draft experts claiming The same thing (maybe that is what you are referring to), these aholes aren't doing their homework. What a way to immediately lose all credibility. I hope someone takes these losers to task. At least 4 goalies showed better promise than Hackett last year.

  2. This prospect pool is downright ###### ridiculous. We have about 30 guys who have true potential to make an impact at the NHL level. Obviously all 30 won't, but there's a solid chance that at least half of them find their way to the NHL.

I only see NHL potential in the top 10, excluding Grigorenko. He'll be gone in a year.

  3. Sam Reinhart is smarter and better then everyone in the system. There is not a close second.

Right. Mostly because most of our forward prospects suck a giant dick. We'll be lucky to see 3 of them develop into NHL players.

Bleacher Report has come a long way. They have legitimate writers and reporters and good content more often, but WOW they have a long way to go.

Their new top 50 prospects features two Buffalo Sabres: Zadorov at 8 and Reinhart at 4... No Risto. Could argue that Grigs is still a better prospect than some of them.

Grigorenko is a ###### hair away from being a bust

    Odd opinion of Hackett

Was it anything other than, "he'll be gone soon"?

  4. I would agree that this board tends to be harsh to new posters, usually.

This board does have its "own culture," and you can't fault newbies for not automatically knowing it.

Some new posters are perceived as coming out with "guns blazing," but sometimes they are only acting that way because they were immediately jumped on.

This is a very knowledgable and mostly intelligent board, but that doesn't provide the right to act like self-righteous elitists to new posters who just want to belong on here.

I feel ya AA but lets look at DStebb as an example. Most everyone hated him upon entry to the board. At first, we pushed backed hard. We didn't want to hear what he way saying because of the way he was saying it. He recognized it and assimilated (muwahahaha) into the board.

Some people are ######. This place isn't meant for everyone.

  5. ^^^^^I agree with plenzmd1 on this and sds for the most part. We have our dozen plus main posters (maybe 15-25?) that contribute most of everything and we have a ton of lurkers that I wish would post more and join in because all of the "core posters" are extremely welcoming to new opinions. But what happens is a new poster wants to talk about something, starts up a topic to share their opinion or to be part of the community, and instantly the BS starts. Multiple people say it shouldnt be a thread, inside jokes start, topic fails, and the new poster tried to be part of the community and got shot down unfortunately which stinks. Could they have joined in on one of the existing threads? Sure, but oh well they didn't and they felt more comfortable starting a thread on a specific subject.

I think we should be more open to new topics, and more specifically to new people starting topics. Give them a break, the more people the better.

I think most posters are met with (slightly) open arms. Unfortunately, they come in full Kamikaze which the board responds in kind. I don't think we are an unreasonable bunch. A lot of outsiders fail to adhere to the culture that has been created. They swoop in with ridiculous posts and ideas. Should they be welcomed? What do I know but if every loon with a whiner line take swoops in here spewing their garbage, does it make for a better board? I think the culture in place ensures we can have somewhat reasonable discussion and segregates all the BS.

  6. So to paraphrase what GCoE posted. You failed us Scott not the other way around. We should have been reeled in long ago but since its been free range for as long as one can remember, it's goin to take culture change. We do this at work. It usually takes disciplining a few flagrant employees, perhaps a ban or two, and the rest will fall in line. The next step is yours Scott. ;)

  7. Why can't it be in great shape and not have boos? It isn't either or...

Forgive me while my feeble mind tries to stay on topic, but my understanding of the league is that the Canadian Markets and a few select US markets drive the economics of the NHL. To say that it's in great shape is not really accurately describing the state of the NHL. In a few select markets, it thrives. Otherwise it's a niche sport where the Canadian markets and hockey crazed communities like Buffalo keep it going.

Now this entire conversation really has nothing to do with Bettman getting booed. He's a tool and Philly knows it, hence the reception he gets.

  8. Well his dad is a former pro hockey player so we shouldn't really be surprised. Either way I love having Samson on the team. I know I advocated Bennett but I like Reinhart and am extremely happy to have him aboard.

Trudat. Thought of it while they were espousing about the Reinhart family lineage.

  9. I wanted Bennett more only because of size and speed. I'm concerned with Reinhart's skating speed. One thing that I always enjoyed about the Sabres of '05 and '06 was team speed.

That 3/4 of a season of different rules were lucked into. I like speed as much as the next guy, but size and talent have more to do with success in today's NHL.
