  1. that makes no sense. then it would be 5 on 5 after all the penalties are over, before there's a whistle. then they pull one player/team off the ice? how friggin confusing is that to stat freaks?

They don't let the players out of the penalty box until their is a whistle. So in effect they don't have to "pull" anyone off the ice.

  2. While Sabres fans would love to have Miller play in the Olympics - me included - we should have more class than to wish someone gets hurt. Next thing you know we'll be wanting Esche to follow in the footsteps of Pelle Lindburgh. Let's show some class as we cheer for our Swordsmen

I have wished for the entire Yankees plane to crash.

  3. Maybe that one goal was a pile of crap, but you people are absolutely sickening. Any time the Sabres lose you start making excuses before the game is even over. The team went out West and generally played like ass, deal with it, it's what actually happened.

The worst thing about that stupid goal is that I'll have to listen to people cry about it for a goddamn month or two.

You won't "hear" (actually read) any bitching from me about foot-gate. :o The Sabres were attempting to kill off a 5 on 3 and if the Flames didn't score that goal it almost seemed like they would have scored shortly thereafter anyway. Buffaro did nothing to deserve the win. Long road trips are tough and I was hoping for the best but kinda expected them to come back to earth. Hopefully they will get 3 or 4 points out of the next 2 games. B-)

  4. Great game for Buff...

It's fun to have confidence in a goaltender again...

I can't stand the Oilers or their broadcast...

And i no longer want Peca in Buffalo anymore, this new game is not for him...

Vancouver is going to be tough on Thursday...

Who is this Peca you speak of? He wasn't playing tonight. Actually if it wasn't for the penalties, I don't recall him doing anything. Like touching the puck, or making a hit or anything.

  5. This is from ESPN's John Buccigross

"Look to move Biron and some prospect/draft pieces. Think about Glen Murray, Leetch, Bertuzzi, Adrian Aucoin, Martin Lapointe and other pieces that won't cost much. The Sabres need to be proactive, or the second half could see them plummet quickly, although perhaps Ryan Miller makes them immune to long slumps.

Verdict: Don't be afraid to trade a young chip along with Biron to get a really good player. It doesn't matter what position, as there are no gluts among the skaters."

I think he is really out of touch. No way Muarry/Bertuzzi will come cheap.

Come deadline time, some big names will come cheap. Now it's just a matter of Darcy being proactive and be the first one to make a move. Do it Darcy!

  6. That's funny, because that's who I think of when I see Pominville.

NO, NO, NO, AND NO! In no way shape or form does Jason Pominville resemble Derek Plante. Maybe you guys are looking at the hair or something but I'll break down the differences.

    Derek Plante: Slight Build

    Jason Pominville: Medium, wiry build

DP: Softest player of his generation

JP: Actually has thrown several body checks

DP: Passive, evasive if need be

JP: fiesty, will take bad penalty in retaliation

DP: Still looks 15, well into his 30's

JP: White man fro, chicks dig it, just ask his swedish supermodel girlfriend

As far as hands, skating and shooting ability. They are both good but I feel like we are just seeing the tip of iceberg with JP. DP topped out at 25 goals, 55 points. Not terrible, but soft and turnover prone. JP is great in the corners and causes turnovers. I think Pommer has the ability to be a 30-35 goal scorer.

  7. You got that right, Corp! It's been a long time since Jeanneret sounded like this. I would almost say it harkens back to the glory days of the French Connection. It's as if Jeanneret is sipping from the fountain of youth. It's great to hear!

I walk around the house quoting RJ, all the time. It's usually, "Half way through the third period". I have never heard anyone illustrate the time with such enthusiasm. I love it. :D

  8. I'm stunned that Miller was a 5th round pick because he was a pretty hot property coming out of college. I believe he set a NCAA record for 17 career shutouts.

"Miller was named the best college player in the U.S. 2000-01 season after posting a 31-5-4 record with a 1.32 goals-against average, .950 save percentage and 10 shutouts"

    PTR

He was drafted in 1999. A good prospect at the time but not nearly the accomplished Goalie that he became in 2001.

  9. Sabres were lucky to get a point. If I see one more drop pass in the offensive zone, I'm crawling into my TV and bitch slapping the culprit. Vanek, Connolly and Afinogenov (I think) were all guilty of this and it led to 2 goals. They really laid an egg but atleast they got the point. Every little bit helps. :)
