  1. Someone needs to taint Team Canada's pre-game mac and cheese to assure a win for the USA.
  2. I knew when USA was hugging each other at the bench with 5 minutes to go in the third it spelled trouble. When will these coaches learn Alamo Mode is not a sound defensive strategy? USA lost this when they sat back in the last 5 of the third thinking they can D it all the way home. Doing so gave the refs the green light to influence the game and give Canada the gold. I'm sickened by the whole thing.
  3. That one girl looks like Tyler Ennis. The refs completely suck.
  4. OMG what a crappy call.
  5. Huge PP here... HUGE!
  6. Here we go! OMG. What chances!
  7. Last 5 of the girls game: AAAAARRRGGGGHHH! Nice hockey!
  8. Any nation that butters their hamburger buns doesn't deserve a gold medal.
  9. The USA is going to win because we have sewage treatment plants.
  10. Hmmm, let's see... This guy, Ted Nolan, says here he's a hockey coach: Prior experience. Check. Ability to squeeze proverbial water from proverbial rock. Check. Demonstrable International and NHL coaching accomplishments. Check. Unarguable untapped potential. Check. Accepted and respected by fans. Check. Primary choice of Sabres' President of Hockey Operations. Check. Well, but does he have a few years to kill while we straighten this team around? This doesn't say anything about long term commitments.
  11. Both teams are stacked with talent, so I think that parameter is a wash. I think Bylsma is in a zone with his coaching right now, while Babcock and crew are not. Team Canada did not look hungry versus Latvia, whom they should have steamrolled (regardless of Latvia's goalie). I think this is a result of the lack of team chemistry for the Canadians and Babcock is having a hard time because of that. Team USA is much more of a "team" and I believe that is what puts them over Canada two days out. If Team Canada can gel over the next few days, it could make things interesting. Being right on the border, I can attest that USA beers, thanks to the microbrews, are far superior to Canadian beers.
  12. Hot goalie or not, Canada should have steam-rolled Latvia. I think the talent-heavy Canadians were mentally stymied by a more "heart and soul" team through the second period and into the third.
  13. Absolutely. Canada should not be happy with this game and should be very afraid of facing a pretty dominant USA team this Olympics. The USA v. Canada game ought to be fun to watch.
  14. Latvia hung in there, they were such the underdogs it wasn't funny. After that second goal, Canada got their heads straight and the confidence up and it was over. Latvia put everything they could into it, but against the stacked Canadians? No.
  15. This final minute is taking forever,
  16. Shucks.
  17. Damn, are we looking at Miller's replacement? Who is that guy?
  18. Latvia prevented a goal by a hand save, Getzlaf forgot this isn't a NHL game.
  19. This kill will be huge.
  20. Getzlaf, you hoser.
  21. Latvia with the incredibly patient, highly defensive game; Canada is confounded. NO GOAL!
  22. N.O.L.A.N. G.I.R.G.E.N.S.O.N.S. ...my homer comment for the month.
  23. These are things that science has tried to usurp from the supernatural. Then those are the questions you would need to start asking, no? The issue I have with viewpoints like these is that they presuppose all things must fit into a certain order and method, and that the premise is "accurate". For example, "God" being something recognizable in some, even abstract, manner. That "consciousness" and Cartesianism (which is presupposed by omniscience) apply to beings (or entities, super-beings, those who/that exist beyond the comprehension of the human mind) other than humans. Science itself, though, is religion. True believers believe nothing else is worth believing. All Things are Possible if but Only Through the Graces of Science.
