  1. Collins is less than a year and a half away from his ACL/MCL tear and surgery when he was with the Bengals. Seems like his career has been stunted by one injury or incident after another. But he has started 86 games in this league despite that. If he can stay healthy (a big if, imo), his position flexibility can really help. We were interested in him before he signed with the Bengals, so Beane finally got his man.

The last wide receivers that signed a huge deal at 31 and 32 is only Julio Jones and jerry rice in history.

“Huge” is a relative term to begin with, but previous contracts in history really don’t have any bearing, anyway. As I said, if Diggs lights it up in Houston some team is gonna offer him big money, regardless because, again, they just can’t help themselves.

Diggs probably gathered as much money as possible because he knows he's declining

And no team is going to sign him to a mega contract when he's going to be 32

Some team will throw big money at him if he has a great year. They just can’t help themselves.

Just a great post -- this middle portion is especially incisive.

I'm quietly hoping for a boi-oi-oi-oing moment when Big Baller Beane goes all in, all in by moving this year's first, next year's first, a couple seconds (?!), and grabs one of the prized WRs in this year's draft.

Is the boi-oi-oi-oing moment the same as the schwing! moment?

Can Benson go to Roch after the season?  I'm guessing he could only got back to his junior team because of his age.

Benson needed to be on the Amerks roster by 3pm on trade deadline day to be eligible for the playoffs. I believe he would be eligible to return to the CHL only after his NHL season ends, but junior teams would already be in the playoffs by then and I don’t know if they have similar playoff eligibility rules.

What I find it curious by their absence is any commentary from McDermott or Brady on this matter. I believe they were integral in this whole thing. Diggs wanted out and McD didn't want him on the team any longer IMPO). I can't shake the image from a couple seasons ago of Brady and Josh on the bench during a game looking at the pad together deciphering what the opponent's defense was doing. And Diggs is standing over them flapping his gums at them. Brady must have been thinking, or saying, 'Dude, STFU and go sit down. We're working here.' Brady was the QB coach then. He's the OC now.

The org made a value judgement. And as @That Aud Smell points out that's a hell of a wallop they just took. Hence we now know what the team's value, in totality, on Diggs was.

While McD certainly has influence on deals, player transactions are outside of his purview, so it’s really not surprising that he wouldn’t comment publicly, at this time anyway. I’m sure he, Brady, Josh and others will all make comments at some point in the future.

I think we will come to learn that there was a ton of internal friction buildup over the course of the last year and it simply reached a boiling point because that’s the only explanation I can think of for why they would do this a year before it made any sense to do it.

I think you’re absolutely correct about the value judgement they made, too. I heard some comments from a talking head about how this offseason saw a huge locker room leadership drain with exits of Morse, Tre, Hyde, Poyer, etc, and the Bills didn’t want that void being filled with a malcontent. Given the comment from Kromer’s daughter, I think there my be something to that.

Yes but Levi covers up a ton of mistakes back there. Wahlberg does look solid and adds a size/skill combination their other forward prospects don’t have

Agree entirely, which is why I dare not say they’ve turned a corner defensively.

There is no wondering. He stood out in the field alone after that first kc elimination, he then dropped a sure fire 2 score go ahead late in the 4th this last kc elimination game. Diggs wasn't it, it is what it is

I still have to wonder why the daughter of a coach would choose to add her two cents to the discussion. I don’t recall that ever happening before on any team. Which makes me believe this has far less to do with Diggs’s performance than it does some behind the scenes conflict.

A few outliers. Sure, he can maybe make it. I do like his game a lot; and he is 18.

He's getting rag dolled a lot. Again he's got time to bulk up.

Wish the rest of the team played like him.

Sure he’s been knocked around a bit, but he’s also been winning his share of battles on the boards as well. He actually uses his size as leverage. For a smaller guy, he’s pretty strong on his skates. And his size will never be as big an issue as it was this season unless he’s already finished growing.

Brind’Amour  will never be the coach in buffalo

Didn’t say he would, only that he should be. He’s the exact type of coach these players need after Donny G. And if he doesn’t re-sign with Carolina, Pegula should put on a full court press, offer him the highest coaching salary in league history, and at least make it difficult for Brind’Amour to say no.
