    Can we start with Dunleavy?Ā

Please! He canā€™t describe the action worth a damn. At least the viewing audience can see what heā€™s missing, but the radio listeners have little idea whatā€™s actually happening on the ice. He too often goes a few seconds with no description and in hockey, thatā€™s an eternity.

Iā€™m looking forward to his new contract announcement. Ā Iā€™ll be the first to post it with some expletives in the OP. Ā I guess this is what fans do but I see no indication heā€™s leaving Carolina.Ā

I fully understand thereā€™s less than a snowballā€™s chance and Iā€™m not delusional, but he hasnā€™t re-signed with Canes as of yet, so let aĀ manĀ dream in the meantime, wouldĀ ya?Ā

In my opinion, hopefully not. Ā I want someone more dynamic and athletic. Ā But weā€™ve seen Beanne draft for a position of need and talking next best before. Ā After missing out on McDuffie he went next best and took Elam. Ā
Coleman is essentially a better Gabe Davis. Ā Better route running. Ā Better catching. Ā Much better after the catch. Ā And their athletic profile is basically the same. Ā Iā€™ll let you decide who is who. Ā

i donā€™t necessarily prefer Coleman. Ā But I do believe he is in play for a Beanne if he stays at 28 or possibly trades down a little. Ā

Coleman was mocked to us in a mock or two a couple months ago and I wouldnā€™t rule him out entirely.Ā

  4. CBS latest mock has us trading down with Carolina and taking McConkey with the first pick in the 2nd round. Nothing against McConkey who is gonna be a good pro, but heā€™s not quite what we need at wideout currently. That said, he would give us what weā€™ve been missing since Beasley and thatā€™s a guy who sees the game like a QB both pre and post snap.Ā

    I'm right with you @Scottysabres.

And @shraderĀ nailed it.Ā  This team has learned to play a tight defencive game.Ā  With a return to a more reasonable amount of scoring the Sabres will be in a better positon to win more games next season.

They played well and have a winning record in the second half this season.Ā  If they could have eaked out a few more points in the first half they would be in itĀ  this season when 89 looks to be the 8th seed in the East.

Sorry SF in NS, but a team that has learned to play ā€œa tight defensive gameā€ simply does not get hemmed in and dominated in their own zone as often as we do nor does it constantly have problems clearing the front of the net like we do. The Stars were just the latest example of that. Sure it was only 3-2, but I canā€™t attribute much of that to a good defensive performance. Currently, we have one top pair D man, one middle pair D man, and one third pair D man. The rest can all go and we wouldnā€™t notice the difference.Ā

We had a mostly clear afternoon here in Western MA. Enjoyed having the kids over to join my wife and I for the event. A couple things really jumped out at me. With only a very tiny sliver of the sun exposed at the peak (7:30 to 10:30 as a clock face) the sky got grayish in color but there were still shadows. And the temperature dropped noticeably. The sun is an awful long way away but puts into perspective how bright it is and just how much heat that sucker generates.Ā

BTW, any else listen to Pink Floydā€™s DSOTM while all this was happening?

  7. Viewed it from the Buffalo Outer Harbor and even though the sun only poked thru for a few minutes here and there, it was a fantastic experience. Neil De Grasse Tyson said to have a clear view of the horizon to really appreciate how the darkness rolls in and he was right. It came in off the lake and just enveloped us in darkness, while off in the distance it looked like a pink and orange sunset. Again, the clouds made it less than optimal, but it was worth every second of the experience.Ā
