We had a mostly clear afternoon here in Western MA. Enjoyed having the kids over to join my wife and I for the event. A couple things really jumped out at me. With only a very tiny sliver of the sun exposed at the peak (7:30 to 10:30 as a clock face) the sky got grayish in color but there were still shadows. And the temperature dropped noticeably. The sun is an awful long way away but puts into perspective how bright it is and just how much heat that sucker generates.
BTW, any else listen to Pink Floyd’s DSOTM while all this was happening?

Not bitter. Just an extension of my Because Buffalo disappointment.
Wide right, no goal, 13 seconds, 2024 solar eclipse. 😂

Viewed it from the Buffalo Outer Harbor and even though the sun only poked thru for a few minutes here and there, it was a fantastic experience. Neil De Grasse Tyson said to have a clear view of the horizon to really appreciate how the darkness rolls in and he was right. It came in off the lake and just enveloped us in darkness, while off in the distance it looked like a pink and orange sunset. Again, the clouds made it less than optimal, but it was worth every second of the experience.

Toker slams the door in the shootout and the Amerks skate off the ice with 2!

Not a cloud in the sky yesterday and today, but we will wake up cloudy skies tomorrow and it looks like they will remain all day. God farts on Buffalo once again. 😂

Bisonette telling us about Sabres bad habits. He said the cross ice saucer passes by Quinn in the neutral zone are bad.
Hmmm, good to know.
Bisonette is a regular hockey savant, he is; the Rain Man of hockey commentary.

Good Oopie means we have a chance. A slim chance, but a chance.
Bad Oopie means no chance at all. Needless to say, we got bad Oopie today.

Call the timeout Donny! 😂

Lazy play by Quinn and crap goaltending by Oopie.

Nice
Levi is a puck eating machine lately. 33/35 tonight for another solid .942 save percentage.

Just remember, receivers nowadays are a dime a dozen. Grab one in the 2nd, but get the big guys early. (Opinion)
I assure you, the great ones are certainly not a dime a dozen. That said, a great QB can certainly turn average into good and good into really good.

Mr Allen tried to come to this Bills topic with info that he received and was told he was wrong and to stop getting all his info from the media.
The info I was trying to share was not speculation. It was well known knowledge inside the Buffalo Bills organization.
I understand I acted like a douche to those two posters. But go and look, ink came at me first. Acting if I was an idiot who gathers info from the media. It’s hard having patience with fans and posters like them. Just watch, they continue to flip flop but yet continue to act as if they are still always correct. Is fine. It’s cool. I just don’t need to listen to guys like them.Fair enough.

I use my non-dominant hand in a backhanded fashion. This way it feels like somebody else is doing it. 😂

People who won't own their opinions are also tools.
If the Sabres are ever good, should I deny ever saying anything bad about Terry?
It ain’t about owning/not owning one’s opinions, it’s about not being a douche in the process, which Mr. Allen was, but that’s just my opinion. 😂
Opinions can and should be flexible based on the information they are based on at the time they are formed. And there is nothing wrong with that.

I'd say it's ruined if you can't see the event. Imagine paying to see the Sabres play in the dark. Wait...
Meanwhile Buffalo weather nerds are really going out on a limb.
"Cloud forecast during the Monday afternoon eclipse remains uncertain at this junction and may not even be fully known until just a few hours before the event starts."
Nate Silver says hello.
Is the jig completely up on "experts" yet?
As the older folk say, Just look out the window.

Are you not entertained! I mean outside of October thru December this season these last 2 years have been an overall net positive as it looks to actually turn the corner.Watching this team keep spinning its wheels lost its entertainment value a while ago. The simple fact is we regressed from last season. Not saying the season hasn’t had its moments particularly where Oopie is concerned, and Benson has been a revelation. But all in all, just not much to write home about.

Power…..I’m seeing signs the breakout is coming. He looks more confident to me. Felt like literally everything he was doing throughout this season you could almost see him second guessing for that split second that split second makes a massive difference.
This is just his second season and he’s a plus 15 in that time logging the ice time - I know it’s no longer a preferred stat - it’s not the whole story but a good part of it.
No coincidence this team has been competent and good since he got here.If he begins to reach his potential this team is a perennial contender.
I’m all for giving Power the time he needs to grow and develop into the defenseman we all want to see and he has shown some glimpses in the midst of some gaffs, but what is this about this team being “competent and good” since he got here? We’ve been inconsistent at best. At best.

Making the playoffs or not this year, this stretch of essentially desperate playoff-type games, facing elimination if you lose, is good for this young team. Valuable experience for next year when we're actually in the playoffs.
Isn’t that what we said last year?

Collins is less than a year and a half away from his ACL/MCL tear and surgery when he was with the Bengals. Seems like his career has been stunted by one injury or incident after another. But he has started 86 games in this league despite that. If he can stay healthy (a big if, imo), his position flexibility can really help. We were interested in him before he signed with the Bengals, so Beane finally got his man.

The more I watch us “compete” against the good teams in this league, the more I’m convinced we are light years away.
