KC values exceptionally talented players that Reid expertly can scheme to create mismatches.  The Bills crave blue chip culture guys that are hard workers.  Thus KC has 3 rings and we have yet to sniff a championship.  The NFL has razor thin margins and Reid is an expert at finding one play to win a game in a playoff scenario. We can try and make ourselves feel better that Worthy is not Tyreek but he doesnt have to be. Just decent enough top speed that he can move all over the field, not just deep routes.

No doubt Reid can scheme like nobody else, but KC’s track record with drafted WRs is a mixed bag at best. The only elite attribute Worthy possesses is speed and that certainly has to be respected, but he is not quick off the line of scrimmage, isn’t a good route runner, doesn’t have great hands, and his frame certainly leaves a lot to be desired and he’s gonna have issues with getting off press coverage as a result. He’s got boom or bust written all over him.

And KC was gonna draft him at 32, anyway. Glad we got a third round pick to possibly use as a chip to acquire another pick in the 2nd tonight.

Maybe he is Tyreek, maybe he’s Mecole.  The Bills couldn’t afford to take a chance at a 165 lbs WR when they absolutely need at starter. There are still a half dozen guys they can plug in immediately.  They’ll get one if not two of them today.

He’s definitely not Tyreek, but that’s not saying he wont be good necessarily. Imo, he has boom or bust written all over him.

Otoh, the Chiefs were probably always getting Worthy even if they stayed at 32.

And for my man @inkman: Ladd ThaHonkey incoming. I hope you enjoyed your evening.

This is the point the whining little children on WGR keep missing. KC was gonna get Worthy, anyway. It sucks the trade was with KC, but in the final analysis, it really doesn’t matter.

  4. If Beane was telling the truth when he said he didn’t have first round grades on 28 players (for what it’s worth,  Joe Schoen said he only had 11 players with 1st round grades), then he is gonna find very good value on day 2. And I have a hunch he’s gonna acquire a third 2nd round pick as well.

Who was the draft pundit who predicted we would trade down for Carolina’s pick at 33 and then select McConkey? Hmm.

Worthy has boom or bust written all over him imo, and I’m glad we didn’t select him, but it sucks we made that deal with KC.

The fact that Benson was in our top 6 forwards this season is an indictment on the GM and the other players on the roster.  As much promise this kid has, at it's a ton, he should not have been in the NHL this season.  It was terrible asset management and it didn't make the team better.

He should have been in the CHL completing his 4th year in the CHL and then he could play in the AHL or NHL this coming season on the 1st year of his ELC.  Just dumb.

Did the kid show he could play in the NHL?  Yes his did, but he was often knocked off the puck and took dumb penalty after dumb penalty.  He was not physically ready of the NHL game and it showed all season.  I'm not sure he'll be physically ready next season either because he is only 19 and not yet physically mature.  Sadly, he won't be eligible to be sent down to the A if he again isn't physically because of his age.  Oh well!

I'm sorry, but while I like some of what I saw from Benson this season, Benson's production was 224th among NHL forwards last season.  His p/gp of players with 41 or more games last season was 225th (tied with Greenway) at .42 pts p/gp.  That was 4th line production.  I also think the analytics place him in the top 9 for the Sabres, but considering how bad the offense was this season, that isn't much to write home about.

Do I think Benson has top 6 potential?  Yes I do, but in 2025/26 just in time for his next contract.

Might want to review all the game videos because Benson won far more puck battles than he lost this season. He knows how to leverage his stature against bigger opponents and he did that routinely along the boards, the few times he was knocked on his butt notwithstanding.

No they haven't. How have they earned an opportunity? Savoie has earned an opportunity in the AHL. Kulich was a mess for 2 months this year and Rosen is still Rosen. I see no reason that we should promote any of them.

Agree entirely. Having watched nearly every Amerks game this season and being thoroughly impressed with Kulich and Rosen much if the time, it is still painfully obvious they just aren’t ready for the show at this time.

I thought Granato and Ellis should have kept Olofsson on the right side powerplay unit 1 with Tage on the left side. That way defending teams couldn't anticipate the TNT one timer everytime. In my opinion it would have really boosted the powerplay this season. Why move away from that option?

But that's bygone's now. Good luck Victor.

In coaching, it’s often a question of benefits vs. drawbacks. Does the benefit of the occasional PP goal outweigh the drawbacks of the rest of his game on a game to game basis. It’s easy for me to understand why Granato and Co. made the decision to scratch him from the lineup so often.
