There is a play that happens hundreds of times a night in the NHL. A defender and an opposing forward are going towards the boards to retrieve a puck. They engage and tie each other up, the puck leaks out to one side and the other D man gets it and starts the breakout. Neither of them ever had the puck. It needs a name and it needs to be counted because it is an invaluable NHL defensive skill. Risto is really good at it. Dahlin is learning. It doesn’t show up on any stat sheet. At least, none that I’m aware of.

First off, Leafs fans are crazy. There were several non calls against them that pissed me off. It’s just ironic (and hilarious) that the call that led to the game winning goal was terrible. There absolutely was no trip. And the refs even tried to make good with a bs roughing call on Risto.

So, in Buffalo, we just say wings, not Buffalo wings. In Philly, they just say cheesesteak, not Philly cheesesteak. Honest question, if you are from Rochester, do you just say plate or plates and everyone knows you mean garbage plate or garbage plates?

I’m not a stats guy and even I agree with the myriad posts showing how he makes everyone who plays with him better. If you don’t see it, you don’t want to.

As I am in no way responsible for the narrative, I am able to see it from just as much of an outside view as anyone else. The numbers are probably true. What they mean is absolutely distorted. I’ve already stated that we’ve lost 14000 people in a population of 330 million. With a population of 1.4 billion, the numbers so far are incredibly small. Fear sells.

I have worked in TV news for 30 years. I have seen our country get played before. It just has that feel to it for me.
