  1. Yeah 1 mil is hard to beat for a veteran goalie who hasn't totally washed out yet.
  2. I'm surprised they're bringing Miller back. It's must be for dirt cheap.
  3. Excuse me but 2CVs aren't useless. They can drive through a farm field without breaking a basket of eggs! Also,
  4. Fried Bologna and Cigarettes Day.
  5. You're in luck then! The higher trim 6 with the wood interior accents really does it for me. I've heard positive and negative reviews of their non-touchscreen infotainment (it's a little dial on the center console like BMW (?)).
  6. I really like Mazda's Kodo design language but it gets ruined the moment you slap a license plate holder on the front because it invades the grille space. Very annoying for anyone who buys a car like the 6 for how good it looks. I think if I bought one I'd tell the dealer to leave it off and just take my chances with getting a ticket.
  7. I want to believe in a world where Botts somehow manages to clear enough cap space to offer sheet Marner, turning the Toronto media into an inferno of spite.
  8. Oh boy do I have opinions. I'm currently driving a 2014 Impala. I bought it used when I was commuting from Rochester and wanted a comfortable, attractive highway cruiser with a large trunk. Check, check, and check. Unfortunately it's been a real lemon as far as electronics and brake components go. Both rear calipers seized up and destroyed the wheel bearings, the infotainment screen died a month after I bought it (out of warranty of course) and GM doesn't have a test procedure for diagnosing the problem. They want me to just start dumping a thousand dollars at a time to replace things until something fixes it. I've diagnosed the problem myself but the repair people don't have a procedure for confirming my diagnosis so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The taillights leaked water into the trunk like crazy because the seals they use on them are a bad design, so I had to replace those myself (the repair appears to have already been done under the previous owner as a recall item). During the winter my collision warning system went crazy and the blindspot monitoring indicator on my passengers side mirror decided it was going to stay on permanently. I pulled the fuse for that system and have been without it for a while. Fortunately GM is acknowledging this defect (water gets into the control modules in the back bumper and fries them) so I have the parts on order to replace that component for free... It's nearly paid off and I don't really want another car payment, but I can't say it's been a satisfying ownership experience these last 2.5 years. Unfortunately I really don't know what I would want to replace it with. There's not much on the market right now that I like and can afford. Used car prices, frankly, are too high, and I'm not interested spending the money (and committing to) a new car that people are just going to dent, ding and disrespect until I go postal.
  9. Good start here guys. This is a tough one for me because I have a really hard time picking just one car. THERE ARE SO MANY CARS. Ultimately, I'm a land yacht guy. Give me bench seats, over-boosted power steering, and a trunk that can swallow a house and I'll cruise up and down that road. I've had a few "downsized" land yachts (1990 Caprice, 1984 Delta 88, 1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate) but I think what I'd really like is a car my dad used to own, the Chrysler Newport. The "fuselage" style of the early 70s is just fantastic and everything after that was a downgrade.
  10. There's nothing wrong with Larry and Girgs. They'll be fine if Botts can put together a good second line in front of them.
  11. Yep, I'd take Stastny as a stop gap.
  12. Detroit was fun!
  13. I'd love to say I want Tanev, mostly out of loyalty since he basically single-handedly carried my RIT Tigers to the Frozen Four as a freshman, but I'd rather have Bogo for one more season.
  14. Casey Nelson deserves more ice time tbh
  15. "Nick, there's rumours that Ristolainen might go to a Canadian team. Go talk about how special he is somewhere so we can get lots of clicks if it happens."
  16. That Kypreos stuff reads like something we would fawn over as fans if Risto was a piece we received in a trade, only to discover that we actually got Bogo.
  17. We should also acknowledge that it's possible, like it is for forwards, that his production may also be a result of simply logging a ton of ice time. Is it fair to assume similar production from him with less ice time? Probably not. He'll likely contribute less with less ice time. And if he's still a mess defensively, what then? I'd hate to be Botterill. I don't really know what I would do with Risto.
  18. It all comes down to evaluation. There are, from where I sit, convincing arguments to be made that he is helping the team, and convincing arguments to be made that he's actually doing more harm than good. I pray that our GM and scouts are more confident than I am.
  19. He's certainly not worth the cap hit anymore, that's for sure.
  20. It's distinctly possible that, as a defenseman, he actually is. It all comes down to how you want to evaluate him, and that's sort of a "choose your own adventure".
  21. Man, that's huge. I'm having a hard time believing that Perry just fell off a cliff so suddenly.
  22. If Risto is a worse Phaneuf, then it's a distinct possibility that this is also the best he's ever going to be.
  23. The problem with this is that when Phaneuf saw his ice time decrease he didn't really get any better (argue chicken and egg if you want, but he was only 28), and there are signs in the stats that Risto might suffer from the same affliction. This is my big concern about the whole "push Risto to the second pair and he'll be better" argument: it's distinctly possible that it doesn't actually work.
