  1. I was going to say John Scott, but he has an Engineering Degree from Michigan Tech, not Michigan. So what you're saying is, a player in Juniors can decline their first team, decline their second drafting team, and then be a UFA after four years and pick their spot? That number sounds familiar somehow.
  2. So, Dahlin is on IR for the week he's already been out, the Sabres use his roster spot for Stillman tonight, and tomorrow (Saturday)? Dahlin could be back on the roster since there's no limit after the trade deadline. This sounds a lot like a paperwork deal with zero implications. Unless, THE SABRES ARE FREEING UP A ROSTER SPOT FOR THE HUGE TRADE. 🙂
  3. But likely, using one of the 50 NHL contract slots. New guy might be on an AHL-only deal, although I don't know if that affects the contract count. THIS COULD BE THE SABRES CLEARING ROOM FOR A HUUUGE MOVE! Or they're just doing right by a player.
  4. Don't know what his business is, but odds are it's easier to run that business in LA than it is from Buffalo. In-person work in Buffalo would be a non-starter for a lot of people in the rest of the country.
  5. Adams should have gotten that pick bundled with Stillman if they were going to give it away.
  6. I doubt the pull it off too. And I can't image that many people are going to pay $309 for it either. Times change, but NHL Gamecenter/CI was like $150/season for all the teams, and MSG wants twice that for just a handful of teams?
  7. I agree with some of what you're saying, but checking and energy guys (if pure energy guys even exist now) can be had in the off-season every year for cheap as UFA. During the season a non-1st (or probably non-2nd) draft pick gets it done. It's cool to grow your own players, but Bloom isn't an irreplaceable guy. There will be teams looking for those skill guys as well, and it's entirely possible down the road if there's a log jam to turn a top-6 guy into a bottom-6 plus a D or something.
  8. Until Summer!
  9. Having watched a lot of Eagles football when I lived in Philly, I don't think he couldn't coach football. I do think he was playing 4D chess a lot but didn't have the personnel to pull it off at times, but mostly he wasn't flexible to change his plan if it wasn't working. I haven't watched football in years, but either he's grown and can adapt now, or Mahomes can pull off whatever crazy scheme is in his head so he doesn't have to adapt anything. It's not dissimilar to the Bills offense, Allen makes a lot of people look great even if they're only good.
  10. I mean, the format sells but I 100% agree with you. Listening to Wally from Cheektowoga spout out some poorly informed nonsense isn't good listening.
  11. I think I liked the blank space better. 😉
  12. That's not the craziest theory in the world, although I bet it'd happen in the off-season if Matthews tells the Leafs he has no interest in signing.
  13. Not really, but Boston has had recent success and doesn't have streaks like, "Haven't won a cup in 5x years" and "haven't won a playoff series in 19 years". I really want to see those continue, where Boston can win another if it has to be that way.
  14. That's what we're all rooting for of course, but I'd even settle for a second-round loss considering how much they've given up.
  15. Careful with these. We've long lambasted the Leafs on being all-offence, no-defence, but the current Sabres are 110% that if they make the playoffs. I don't see the Sabres getting out of first round with the tighter play either.
  16. Same, the Sabres spent a decade or two in mediocre/terrible jersey wilderness. Whatever superstition is driving this doesn't work for me.
  17. I suspect the OP knew both those things when writing the post. 😉
  18. The 70s Habs were in the prime window of the last of the pre-draft players, where the Habs had the rights for every 12 year old that could skate and lived east of Kingston via their Junior affiliations[0]. IMHO, that's what drove that dynasty more than anything. [0] I'm partly joking about the scope
  19. But but we have a game in hand! 🙂
  20. The 9-ish minute highlights on YouTube show up maybe 30 minutes after the end of the game. I almost never track games real-time, so this works perfectly for me. Sportsnet or NHL post the same video (more or less).
  21. He seems like a savvy investor. I wonder if he likes exotic snakes.
