  1. I bought a new-to-me Subaru a few months back, and I'm a little annoyed that it hasn't snowed yet in Buffalo so I can experience its AWD glory.
  2. Yep. History always repeats itself, and Trump is using a lot of the same tactics that previous dictators used to gain power and foster group think.
  3. Part of me thinks that he is using this to try to distract people with a different story to stop people from focusing on the shutdown/wall The other part of me worries about this.
  4. If anyone is interested in filling out the survey, a link to it is currently the front page story on WKBW.com - very detailed survey with lots of questions about what you are looking for in a renovation/new stadium. https://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/buffalo-bills-want-your-input-on-stadium-options-including-potential-for-new-stadium
  5. Mostly I think the difference in handling between TT and Nylander is based on play style. If Nylander isn't scoring in the NHL level, then he is useless as he doesn't have the physicality or defensive acumen to contribute in other ways while learning. So let's make sure he is ready by holding him in the AHL until the team is sure he is capable of being a scoring threat in the NHL. Then when you bring him up he should be put in a scoring line role with skill players. Tage on the other hand had enough size and skating ability to be capable of learning at the NHL level, and (while it took a little while) was able to play other roles while he figured out how to position himself to use his hard shot as a weapon. The last few games we have seen good confidence growth, where he is now generating more chances.
  6. I feel like we are saying the same thing.
  7. I don't know what crazy ideas everyone else has, but I only recommended giving Samson his own line given his crazy CF% number last night. Jack and Jeff should stay together for the next 8 years. Right.
  8. I always thought the stadium would go in the Perry projects (the area you mentioned above), but it's interesting to hear that all of this is presumably moving forward. There was just too much investor development down there (Riverworks, Labatt, Hofbrauhaus, etc.) not to read between the lines.
  9. Especially since the playoffs are when the hooking and interference calls go away - at least so I've heard.
  10. Someone go tell Rick that Svoboda also cleared waivers for the Sabres. ?
  11. Wasn't that phrase last used when interviewing Rex Ryan? *shudders*
  12. I agree the parties and situations are different, but i'm saying we should caution ourselves from reading too much into the fluff coming from agents and the Sabres organization. Until a number is agreed upon and the extension is signed, both parties will generally have good things to say about the other in the media. Black Sunday has shaped a healthy skepticism for Buffalo sports that has served me well.
  13. Yeah the "3rd line" of CJ-Mitts-KO would definitely get the 4th most ice time, it is just easier for me to think of them in terms of traditional line numbering. While Larsson can take the tough matchups, the line above would be sheltered and only play against weaker opponents or o-zone starts. Excellent point - 40+ games in, TT now is completely different from the first few weeks of the season.
  14. In the same way that murders and crime always leads in a local news story - the political battles and "he said/she said" stories are GOLD for the political news media. They no longer have to generate talking points or content on slow news days, because every day is a new scandal or shocking tweet. They just need to react to whatever is tweeted/said and then put their network bias spin on it. What does concern me greatly is the proliferation of blatant lies/scare tactics that are coming from our highest office. It's becoming less about the quality/accuracy of the content our politicians say, and more about what message they are trying to sell. What scares me is the trend towards similar messaging that came from the early rise to power of historical dictators - strong nationalism messages based on fear and xenophobia.
  15. This is what is always about. If the general voting population is invested in the outcomes and informed on the issues, our representatives will be far more reflective of populist center-of-the-political spectrum views, and the public would be able to identify and respond to private and corporate agendas in our candidates. Right now the only voices that consistently vote are the radicals on both sides, so the candidates tend to respond to those voices and adopt strong liberal or conservative platforms.
  16. I recall people being fairly confident that would would end up with one of Drury or Briere. There was a huge thread debating which one you prefer, but I think we all expected at least one of them.
  17. While I agree with you in this case, let's not forget how we were all feeling in the months leading up to 7/1/07. It's not done until the ink is dry.
  18. I agree. Maybe in the playoffs, but the regular season is a grind.
  19. Yes! For all the crap on the internet, there occasionally is a gem or two that makes it somewhat worth it.
  20. I don't think they want a rehab stint to be longer than 14 days, but GMJB would appreciate the flexibility to be able to keep him down in Rochester if the big club is going well. Having a 30 day window of waiver free decisions is far more beneficial than having a decision forced on you at the 14 day mark because we designated him for a rehab assignment.
  21. I think he can be the leader of his line, but I agree that he needs a center/wing hybrid role where he can switch roles with another player. ERod plays a similar center/wing hybrid and as a result they work well together. Plus I see far more offensive upside in ERod than others do, so I think he can raise up that line rather than drag it down. I think Sam needs two high energy skaters to create movement and disrupt the defense. I want more of that behind the net backdoor pass from Sam to ERod that was set up by Sheary winning the race in the corner.
  22. Give the man his own line. Challenging him to be the leader of his line instead of a supporting player may bring out the best in Samson. It did tonight (despite a 0 point game, he was the catalyst for a lot of the scoring chances for his line).
  23. A Messy balls sighting! Damn.
