Agreed. The problem is I don't think I want Samson in front of the Risto (or Jack) shot, and without a screen the point shot is low percentage IMO.
-
This I can get behind. Risto is great at pinching in the offensive zone and has a hard shot, but his passing accuracy and decisiveness isn't great. There are a number of times I think we have a shot at the Eichel one-timer but a poor pass from Risto doesn't put the puck in Jack's wheelhouse to shoot.

To add: Scandella is still an NHL level defenseman who is not having the best year this year, but his track record should be enough to conservatively return a mid-round pick at the deadline. His value is not zero now, and there was value in stabilizing the defense in prior years.

Does Hunwick provide some sort of physical presence that might be missing? That is the only thing I can think of as Pilut is not the biggest guy -
? Because even if you aren't trying to win now (which is debatable this year, but not the point) you should protect the best assets you have. We used the asset value that was protected in Ennis and Foligno to get back Scandella, who until his recent play was our top 4 defenseman. You aren't getting Scandella for William Carrier and his 8 pts in 41 games. It is the GM's job to maximize the assets on the team, which he did by protecting Lehner and our best forwards at the time.

Watch out Terry - Columbus is coming for you! ? -
When the team was bad, it was often a much better deal to just go on StubHub and grab tickets for $10 or so a few days before. Now that they are better I think the prices on the secondary market have recovered a bit, but still a bargain compared to face value on Sabres.com. I wouldn't mess around with craigslist or scalpers, as I personally have concerns about buying fake tickets but YMMV.

Exactly. Either Eichel is the set up guy, or he is the trigger man. If he is the set up guy, then we need all shooters in dangerous areas for him to pass to. If he is the shooter, than Sam needs to be on the other half wall making the passes to Jack for a one-timer.
-
If you watch the Washington PP for example, it always appears like they overload the right side with the other 4 players - effectively making the opponent choose between playing 4 on 3 (and guarding Ovi) or taking their chance leaving Ovi alone and trying to force a 4 on 4 takeaway. That powerplay strategy is one where Ovi might not touch the puck at all until he takes the final shot.
-
This is what I see too. Jack is holding the puck on the half wall because any other "quick decision" would be reckless and result in a turnover. When Jack first gets the puck all of his options are usually covered, and he needs to hold/change the angle to make the pass a higher percentage. We would all be way more restless about the powerplay if the Sabres were committing turnovers every few seconds in the offensive zone.

Yeah the casual-ness of which he treated the pursuit is nutty. He was on the FBI's top 10 wanted list for years, but also was so confident that the police were idiots that he escaped from court, came back, escaped from prison, got in a bar fight while on the run, went to Michigan for shits and giggles, then chilled on a beach in Florida for a few weeks before the Phi Kappa murders. Bundy just always thought that he was the smartest guy in the room, and felt he could outsmart and talk his way out of any situation. -
With the talent we have the powerplay should be better. Trying something different might create different results. Also, this is another post where your tone leaves something to be desired.

Just finished it last night. Amazing how he eluded cops in those days by just moving to a different state. There were no centralized databases or anything that they have now, so once he left Washington (then Utah, then Colorado) the law enforcement there were literally starting from scratch. With the media coverage we have now, I can't imagine a serial killer surviving to gain the notoriety that Bundy ultimately achieved. -
Matthews looked like dog ***** that whole 'game'. It's terrible when the players don't skate and/or try
-
Yeah that was dumb. Also Gibson giving up 7 in the first has the Pacific favored crowd pretty restless. Haha what a troll job

I think @GASabresIUFAN is valid in pointing out that defenseman early scoring peaks are sometimes not sustainable. Now I don't think anyone here expects that Dahlin will be a one-and-done scorer like Ekblad and Myers were, but let's also not automatically assume his point production will be a linear growth model.
