If we get Kane for next year, you just know someone is going to start up "the concept of Kassian" stuff with him when he doesn't score 10 goals and fight Chara in the first week.

Samesies. Take care of our own business and let the other draft picks fall where they may.

Hold on here. Upthread I was commenting on whether it was worth it to trade pending UFA's like Stewart. You said we didn't have anyone next year that could replace Stewart's production, to which I replied that since Stewart is a UFA, we don't have him next year, so any UFA we sign (including Stewart) is available to replace Stewart. My Kane comments are about receiving a player with contract control that can fill a spot on McDavid's wing and provide some grit/protection as well as scoring. The current roster doesn't have any player like that, so we need to look to find that to avoid Miller/Lucic part duex.

Thanks for the responses guys. I didn't have a strong opinion on Ritchie either way, but given that he was #10 overall last year and an 8.0 rating on hockey future, figured he must have some skill. Sounds like most of you would prefer other pieces from the ducks. This is what I am most interested in Kane for. There needs to be a heavy grit player to play along side of McDavid, but the skill level needs to be there so we aren't wasting a top line spot on a non scorer/slow player. Kane would score 20-30 on McDavid's wing and punch you in the mouth if you mess with our boy wonder. We don't have that winger on our team right now (Stewart is closest but is UFA).
-
I forgot that they drafted Ritchie at #10 overall this past year. Maybe GMTM is looking for some more scoring winger pieces. At 6-2 220, Ritchie has the size that we seem to like as well. Is Myers worth top prospect value? Is Gibson or Ritchie better than the Red Wings asking price of Dylan Larkin?
-
I would think GMTM might be looking for his long term solution in goal. Gibson? Not sure what side would need to even out the value, but Gibson is a highly rated goaltending prospect that is basically ready for the NHL. We currently don't have one of those in our system despite having a ton of goalie prospects.

You have to remember that we aren't replacing Stewart with Armia. It will be return on Stewart trade (say 2015 2nd rounder), plus the signing of a new UFA to fill his cap space. Stewart is technically off the team roster when this season ends, whether we end up re-signing him or 'RW Stewart Chris' in free agency doesn't much matter. Getting value for expiring UFA is almost always the prudent move in asset building.

Hyperbole is fun isn't it? :wallbash: With regards to the Kane talk, I hear very few arguements that he doesn't have the neccesary raw skill to be a top 6 power forward winger. It's all about whether he puts together the locker room/off ice motivation side of his game. I would rather be taking chances on skill like that when the price is (supposedly) low than trot out highly motivated scabs. High end talent is how you win games.

um... thanks for sharing?

To help us out. Like for niceys. :bag:

I look forward to these gems from Yuri & Anna posts. I could probably read a whole book of them. Please make it so.

Now would be the year to do it. With everyone hyping up the top of this draft, some crazy GM would probably make a Lindros/Hershel Walker type trade offer. Many stars > One Superstar. Hockey is a team game.

But PTR you have to remember that the chicken here is mutated to be larger from love canal and buffalo river water. You can't get that anywhere but here! ;)
-
Not sure I understand what you're getting at. I've seen the show, I know what she looks/sounds like. That's how I read Anna's posts.
-
So Zadorov isn't playing?! :nana:

I read this in the same way as "bring out yer dead" from Monty Python's Holy Grail. Fitting.

And I thought I was the only one. Deadpan Russian cyborg fit her posts perfectly.

Zadorov back with team but still not expected to play as a learnng experience for his travel snafu. That will really hurt the Sabres defense as he has been one of the best defenders this season. More ice time for Mezaros and Benoit

 Unfortunately if you ask to see them, you have a much better shot at mall Santa's tits than miss Sansa Stark.

It's the little things now. I was excited to see the Stewart/Hodgson/Stafford line have the puck in the opponent's end in the first. Not even scoring chances, just not hemmed in their own zone for the whole shift.

Well Bulldog is never misinformed or wrong about anything. Having a scorer like Dal Colle in the pipeline would be even sweeter, but for once it looks like Garth made the right choice on the island.

So this thread didn't work out as we had hoped. To think we were debating whether Garth was foolish to not give us last year's #5... :bag:

haha. I was always amazed how brazen he was with that move. ZFG if there was a opponent right in his face, that puppy was getting swatted.

It's a double edged sword though. The general consensus is that you don't trade away top 5 picks. If the Sabres are looking to trade their 2016 1st for current players, given their place in the current standings, wouldn't a team be a little leary that the team is willing to trade it away (in effect the Sabres saying we believe we will be much better in 2016)? It's basically the same bet that the Islanders were forced to make as a result of the Vanek trade. You do everything in your power as an orginization to make that pick late in the first and not Austin Matthews. There's a reason the Sabres have so much cap room. It isn't so they can trot that lineup out there. There's no way McDavid/Eichel is the only new addition to the orginization's talent pool for the 2016 season.
-
Every indication is that Eichel would be good enough to play in the NHL right away. I could see a drafted player stay in school if they weren't going to get NHL minutes, but that's not the case with a prospect of Eichel's quality. Besides, we're getting McDavid
