So Carolina must've really liked Buffalo's 4th line. Who knew?

Considering we've entered the part of the day that we're signing guys for the Amerks, am getting to the schadenfreude stage of the show. The Eulers lost Foegele to the team they face seemingly every year in the 1st round and may be bringing in Jeff Skinner. Yeah, that was their problem, too many 2 way guys & not enough offence.

If they make a trade for Eriksson Ek or Danault as was earlier rumored, this isn't as ugly as it seems now. But doubt anyone here would want to have money on that happening at this point.

So we're back to the 1st off-season of the Pegula era. Lindy Ruff is coach, the GM frustrates the fans with his patience, and they futilely make offers to the most coveted FAs. Progress from the 12 years in between.

Surprised only $2.5MM of it is incentive based. They could easily have given him a $1-2MM bonus at 1 game giving them that much extra cap to play with if they wanted.

Well, 2 seasons ago they were a Hudson Fasching kicked in goal away from the playoffs. This past season, Adams essentially stayed pat with only Clifton and E Johnson as the only new guys brought in though there were other weak areas to address. IF he'd finally trade some of the prospects/ picks that are where eventual success would seem to be flowing from, then maybe some of that future lost talent / opportunity could be replaced by UFAs that DON'T have the Sabres on their nfw list. Am hoping it starts tomorrow, but am not hopeful.

They MIGHT be able to make the playoffs, but with the improvements to the Otters & Devils would not be banking on being able to sneak in at 91 or 92 points. They need to be targeting 99. Realizing it's still a work in progress, but at this point with the improvements around the conference (which means more tough games) 99 will be a tough slog. Hopefully tomorrow we see some new toys under the Canada Day tree. Because w/out them it won't be easy.

Not sure what in the actual Hades that was. But, yes, it does somehiw sum up what it feels like to be a Sabres fan quite well.

Would agree it's 1 year too early from a cap point of view. But if Ruff thought he couldn't get Skinner to buy into the system, and it sure does look that way, then you get him off the team to have everyone pulling in the same direction. They expect they'll be better off without him in the long run. And if they do bring in Kane & say Eriksson Ek tomorrow, they're in a better space than they were. See this move 100% as them making the team stronger in 2 of the 3 zones.

Johnson might be. But at the B&GI w/ Ruff and Adams, they were talking about Dahlin playing a lot w/ Power & Samuelsson. Muel isn't going anywhere.

Good. He shouldn't be getting nearly $2MM/yr, but at $1.1 or so, would be fine with him coming back to be the 8.

Did not say that Adams doesn't want to make the playoffs now. He wants to be there and thought he had a team good enough to be there last year. But am fairly convinced that he isn't going to give up enough future assets to make that a very likely outcome today at the cost of being a legit contender then. Personally do expect him to be in on trying to get some FAs and might even pull the trigger on Eriksson Ek (or similar). But even that won't cost much of his prospect pool. IF the GTing holds up & they stay healthy, do expect they'll be in the mix. But right now would say they'd be on the outside looking in. Let's see what happens the next few days, but right now it isn't encouraging.

Eh, would rather have a local kid being the one we're hoping defies the odds and makes it to the show than one from somewhere else all things being equal.

Yeah. If other GMs don't respect him they should be falling over themselves to get deals made with him.

Considering the moves the teams around the Sabres have made, barring something major happening in the next couple of days, yes, they'd need a fairly substantial bit if luck to make the playoffs this season. Still say Adams focus is on '26-'27 and being a legit contender that year. Hoping we don't find out if Pegula is fully on board with that being the goal at the expense of this upcoming season.

What, you're trying to say your question was over the entire life of the franchise (or perhaps the fan)? Fairly disingenuous.

Not on the list, but 1st day of the playoffs usually sucks.

Don't know enough about Helenius but disappointed they didn't grab David Jiricek's little brother who went 2 picks after Buffalo's pick. Hopefully they made the right choice.
