And we agreed that he SHOULD have addressed Quinn being out for 1/2 the season. Pretty sure we also agreed that Okposo shouldn't have been brought back. It wasn't and he was. And with running with the 3 headed goalie monster, that leaves them icing 11-7 or playing both Jost and Olofsson (and Okposo too).

Agree w/ you other post that he is not going to be the driver of a line. Expect he could be effective on the 4th line if he had a 2nd winger better than Okposo. But he and Girgensons are not good enough to overcome the boat anchor that the captain has become. Wonder if putting Jost onto that line with those 2 or one of the kids (Rousek, Kulich, Rosen, ???) could get that line improved enough to be an effective 4th line. Sliding Okposo to the 3rd line (which ice time wise is actually the 4th line), tanks it. But they aren't getting much from it either. Find a way to get the 4th line effective, and suffer through the 3rd lines minutes. But, right now, at age 22, no Krebs is not good. He's particularly not good enough to pick up a linemate that is even worse. And he's being asked to do that on the 4th line, and has also been asked to do that when he's been put onto the Frankenstein line the handful of times he's been bumped to that 3rd line.
-
Would guess that would put him about 4 weeks away from them playing him in a best case scenario. Would be a very nice Christmas present to get. Wonder if the December 30 Columbus game is the target? (They have 3 playoff teams in a row right before that game; could see them easing him back in against presumably lesser competition for the 1st night back.)
-
Lacking both Thompson and Quinn, with the choice of the 18th skater being RJ2, Clifton, Olofsson, or Jost; can see why they do prefer it. (Personally, would prefer they go 12-6; but Granato didn't ask. 😉 )
-
You REALLY expect them to just go with 6 D tomorrow? Jokiharju is on the 4th pair with Bryson because he's probably still recovering from whatever it is that kept him out earlier and so that Power and RJ2 can get used to playing with each other and Samuelsson can get extra work with Dahlin. (He hasn't been himself since coming back into the lineup.) He'd been practicing with Bryson before the Chicago game too, but played with both Dahlin and with Power that game. Am expecting that to happen again. Expect he'll probably be 4th in total ice time again too with about as much as EJ gets and more than either Clifton or RJ2 (who will essentially split the 6th D spot, but primarily on different pairings).

Origin of The Beast-How Devon Levi got His Nickname
Taro T replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Haven't listened yet, but if that's how the nickname arose, it is sooooooo stupid, it's actually awesome. 🍺 -
Let's hope not. But, there's a big difference between where the Canes Rags are at and where the Sabres are at. When you really understand what you're doing and where your teammates should be, it's a lot easier than when you're still in a system that has evolved from the previous year. Not only that, but the Canes are only 10-7-0 so far this year. Wonder if messing with lines and pairings is effecting the results so far? Really expected them to be where the Rags are right now.
-
Would expect that means 11-7 continues; Granato loves him some Jokiharju. Not sure that's best when the lines are struggling to exhibit chemistry.
-
IF they don't suffer any more substantial injuries and start getting the 2ndary back, there isn't a game on the schedule they can't win. But, it's a more likely bet that they split the next 2. What happens after that? Who knows?

Knew there was a 2nd one in the Buffalo area. Didn't realize it was in Williamsville on Main. Still need to check out the one in Webster. 20 minute drive trumps 1-1/2 hours.

Never went until in mid-20's. Pretty much only went because friends from out of town wanted to go there. Have been there a handful of times. Would definitely rather go to at least 5 other places than the Anchor Bar. Thing is, there's supposed to be a Bar-Bill in Webster now. Need to check that out. If it's even close to the original, it'll be great.

The PP has been and is broken. Don't have much faith in this coaching staff to fix it because the same structural problems that it had all of last year (minus a ~6 week window where it was incredible which caused a lot of people (apparently even those working in the MMArena) to believe it was good when it wasn't) are the same ones it has this year. Cozens, once he gets his face healed and loses the fishbowl, could get back on track. (Would expect it's more likely than it not happening, but who knows how long it'll take to get rid of the fishbowl.) The 4th line might be substantially better by making 1 modification, but management isn't going to go for that at this time. The biggest thing this team needs right now is getting everybody on board the play hard and relentlessly train. Never thought this would be said, but the last 3 games Olofsson has been one of the best forwards they've had. He has 2 goals (both in garbage time), has been going to the dirty areas, has actually battled along the boards, and has actually backchecked. He doesn't seem to be able to connect on a pass to save his life, but he's playing hard (for him) and playing a simple game. He's been playing a pretty good road game. The rest of the team needs to do likewise. (Excepting Dahlin, Erik Johnson, Peterka, and Benson from that criticism. They've been playing hard and well in this last little stretch. Everybody else needs to just be that little bit better. Would be cool if the others that are playing pretty well could find another gear too; but that's a pretty big ask.)

The folks that own CHL teams appear to disagree with you. Count the owner of the WA team that played in Winnipeg among that group. They could allow the Sabres to have him play in the AHL, but they would rather have him help them set interest in the team in its 1st year in its new location and help them try to win the Memorial Cup. Tough to blame them for that perspective.

You not have GPS in yours? Ours tells us we're down to X miles left and asks if we want it to chart a course to the nearest gas station. Or, maybe yours just doesn't like you and wants you to be stranded in bad places with bad people and things all around. 🤪 (And it's somewhere in the under 30 miles left range that it pops that message up on the dash.)

Clifton has been the weakest of the 7 so far, and it makes sense to be watching EJ's usage at his age. But they haven't been playing an onerous schedule so not sitting him yet has a logic to it. RJ2 has looked like their 2nd best D-man at times, and that is a problem. He and Power should both be able to get 3rd pairing usage, but they can't overwork the Big Johnson and there is something wrong with Samuelsson (not sure if it's due to injury or if it's mental, but he is having lapses that are directly leading to goals lately). Power is having his version of a sophomore slump (it's still way better than a lot of players, but he seems to be thinking too much on the ice as well). Jokiharju is playing well for the most part, but still see him as an excellent 5 and an ok 4. Don't know what the answer is, short of bringing in a Hannifan to really fix the top 4. Because don't see them bringing in a Hannifan. Still would like to see them try Dahlin-Jokiharju (R Johnson) Samuelsson-R Johnson (Jokiharju) Power-E Johnson rotating Clifton through a weighted rotation of E Johnson, R Johnson, & Jokiharju with Clfiton sitting the most and E Johnson and Henri the least and bouncing Power back into the top 4 when both Erik and Clifton are playing. And go with whichever of Ryan or Henri are working better with Ras on any given night to form your top pair. Hate having both RJ2 and Power in the top 4 at this point of their careers, but due to a need to keep from overworking E Johnson and Clifton not getting it yet (but getting better) they pretty much need to have both of them up there now. -
Don't worry, you'll have PA jumping to your aid any second now. PS - it's all fine.
-
Pretty sure THAT was said in the 1st post you decided to jump all over.

Nor should you have started in at all. As stated above, their HQ WAS in Minnesota when they opened up locations in WNY. But, thanks for playing. Certainly there are some wonderful parting gifts waiting for you backstage.
-
And reading further, realize why it seemed to be a Minnesota company. Because THAT's where their headquarters were located when they 1st came to WNY.
-
No, they did not come out of Indiana. So, no you did NOT fix that. They claim to come out of Columbus OH. (Had thought they were from Minneapolis. At least had them coming from a place that's heard of hockey. Unlike Indiana.)
-
Buffalo Wild Wings is actually out of Minnesota and is just slightly closer to REAL wings than KFC is. (It's not QUITE that bad, but it is a huge step down from Bar-Bill, Duff's, Elmo's, the Gate, Union Pub, ...) If you spend enough on advertising, people will buy anything.
-
And they very likely could get the split with these next 2 games. They'll be coming off a bye heading into KC (they always go to stinking KC, and next year when KC would have to come to Buffalo in a non-fan excluded game, there is a very strong possiblility that they won't play KC because KC IS winning their division and it will take a herculean effort for the Bills to do likewise at this point); and the team plays very well against KC and actually wins in the regular season against them more often than not. Coming in relatively healthy and rested with the new OC getting an extra week to bring his scheme to the O could be a very good thing.

Personally, expect it sends a worse message to start the guy that gives them the least opportunity to get a win in a particular game. UPL gave them a great opportunity to win this game. He DOES NOT match up well vs what the Capitals like to do. Both Comrie and Levi match up better vs that. Not saying they can't win w/ UPL between the pipes in DC nor that they'll automatically win running one of the other 2; but they have to go w/ whichever goalie gives them the best chance to win any given game. And, honestly expect that they were winning tonight with any of the 3 between the pipes. You giving Comrie a 3rd consecutive start had he gotten the win tonight? Levi 2 in a row in UPL's shoes tonight? If yes, cool, good for you, you're staying consistent to your belief that not rolling a guy that ended a losing streak (that that guy had a part in as well, btw) sets a bad precedent. If not, why not? Either way, we don't see eye to eye on this. And that's fine as well. -

He did have a good game. He made some big saves when they needed them. Both of the goals he gave up were good shots to areas that he has difficulty with; but they were both good shots and his teammates could've bailed him out on both. -

If Cozens sits the next game, you're rolling 11 F's with Tyson Jost as the 11th F. Still think that's a good idea?
