  1. I'm thinking that it is simply a formality until Ryan agrees to his contract. If something outrageous happens and Ryan is not signing the extension, perhaps Cal doesn't either. I think they probably agreed on everything, which is why it was reported. And as soon as Ryan is a sure thing, Cal will sign his. Not that they will even play on the same team, it's more of the organization.
  2. I was thinking more like Ambassador to North Korea.
  3. Adam Proteau ‏@Proteautype 2m2 minutes ago Next to Phil Kessel, Sidney Crosby is going to look like Dennis Rodman.
  4. Me, too. I'd be very happy with just him or Sekera, even if he is the only one we sign. I suppose a backup goalie may be needed or signed.
  5. Someone just tweeted "Canada turns 148 today, signs with the New Jersey Devils."
  6. Worked for Keith Richards and Jimi Hendrix.
  7. I like that second one. Then the third could be Larrson with Gus and Gionta which could be a good checking line with some offensive punch.
  8. Yep. It could. There are a lot of unknowns. I was just bringing up possibilities. They may have hoped that the facts would come out later that Richards did something pretty bad, and then they wouldn't look like the bad guys.
  9. Agreed but I think there is a distinction between that and a guaranteed contract. If you just work for a company you have a contract and they can fire you if they want to (outside of the obvious wrongful termination stuff). They can cut you for any reason in the NFL. But the NHL contracts are guaranteed. You cannot just fire people. Granted, I totally understand the code of conduct stuff and league policy stuff and this could easily fall under that so they can terminate his contract. I was talking more about if it was just an investigation with no real allegations yet. But they wanted to sneak it in before the buyout period ended.
  10. In the NFL they do because contracts are not guaranteed. Or they do when a guy has been arrested. If he was arrested at the border that is a different story and I think they could get away with it. You're right the Kings know more and maybe they have a good case.
  11. I know nothing about what the RMCP may be investigating and little about the player conduct clauses in his contract. But it seems very sketchy to me as to why the Kings should be able to do this when at this point it is only an allegation or investigation (regardless of how much it looks as if there is guilt). This would set a terrible precedent for teams in the future to just terminate contracts whenever a player they didn't really want to pay any more get arrested for almost anything. You can't really quantify how bad an arrest is, or how much it looks like guilt in these scenarios.
  12. People tend to look at things more black and white than they really are. It's entirely possible even at this point that he just doesn't know. He really, really, really wants to go back to BU, and he really, really, really wants to go to the NHL right now and make some money and play against the best and show he's better than McDavid. They could be equal. But he has to make a decision and he's going to the NHL.
  13. Hooters sucks in every way. I will never go in one of those. Tilted Kilt I would never go out of my way to go to, but if friends or colleagues or business people said lets meet there I would have no problem with it.
  14. At Tilted Kilt it's all about the uniforms, and the obscene way the managers at each of the franchises grossly abuse all fairness and equality laws and only hire the prettiest young girls.
  15. Slight correction. In 2011-12, playing 78 games for two different teams he scored 20 goals total. Plus he had 11 in only 47 games the next year. His back is an issue for sure. Avs fans seem to rave about him. OReilly just did, too, today in an interview. He's big, tough, drives to the net, tries hard and has some skill, too. Good 3rd line guy or 4th.
  16. Those places are great and I hate chain restaurants.
  17. Bylsma said he spoke to three of them at the draft and that we would likely sign one soon.
  18. He was on PP and playing on top two lines when he was scoring 44 points. There is not a chance he would be on top two lines, and he does little to nothing for third and fourth. Not to mention that his concept of ZFG is on checking and trying and defensive responsibility.
  19. I have yet to see one person who has actually watched OReilly a lot say anything other than he is an extraordinary player and easily a #1 center. The only people who ever seem to say he isn't worth it have surely seen him play, but say his points and money don't match almost on a theoretical basis.
  20. I think Bylsma also said he wasn't abject to putting OReilly at wing with Eichel for 10 minutes in a game or 10 game stretch. What about: Kane Eichel OReilly Moulson Gus Ennis Reinhart Larrson Gionta Deslaurier Foligno Legwand McGinn McCormick dividing it up.
  21. They had already agreed on the framework from what I heard, and they knew what he had asked the Avs for. There is virtually no chance they made the trade without knowledge from both sides this would get done.
  22. Really good Q&A on the trade with an Avs beat writer. http://buffalowins.net/uncategorized/1200-words-on-the-ryan-oreilly-and-jamie-mcginn-deal-with-avs-writer-milehighhockey.html?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=1200-words-on-the-ryan-oreilly-and-jamie-mcginn-deal-with-avs-writer-milehighhockey
  23. Yep. His entire career Thurman Thomas used his draft day snub of not getting chosen in the first round as a personal motivator.
