  1. We have to trade Neuvirth for the tank and I imagine his stock is rising fast. Stewart has been playing well, too. He's surely gone.
  2. And Coyotes lose, with a lot of chances to score.
  3. I just turned it on and they scored in two seconds. But Coyotes have pp last minute
  4. We are the worst team in the league, we don't have arguably our two best forwards in Ennis and Gus and we are winning again? They're tanking the tank!
  5. Those goal games by Bernier and others were clear aberrations and everyone knew that. This is the kind of game he plays and what we were told to expect. Maybe not 6 hits in the first period of course. But a very good defenseman who plays big and hits hard.
  6. One star player is worth way, way more than two very good players in any sport. You cannot win in any sport without star players.
  7. One of the reasons for the trade, as other have clearly pointed out, is that you really can have too many prospects. There are only so many contracts and positions. I wonder if Lemieux not wanting to sign had something to do with too many guys he has to beat out in two years.
  8. I heard recently but didn't bother to look it up that a huge portion of Lemieux's goals and points were on the PP this year, and that it would not translate to the NHL as his skill set is not such that he would be a PP goal scorer but in juniors he's just better than most. Perhaps that is just rationalization, and he was the one guy I was pissed about in the whole deal. That said, the reason IMO that so many Sabre fans were enamored with Lemieux was similar to the Concept of Kassian. We have wanted tough guys for so long, and have been soft for so long that we overvalue tough guys. Granted. everyone in the NFL wants tough guys who can actually score, so I don't mean to diminish even the Concept of Lemieux. BUT... This is a whole new ballgame with Murray. By the time Lemieux makes it to the NHL 70-80% of the entire Sabres roster is going to be tough guys, with only highly skilled guys the rare exception.
  9. I didn't read the entire filibuster but it's 100% impossible as well as stupid for a GM to be honest with the media. Surely there are some who are better at it than others. But there is no way in hell I want my GM to be honest with the press about his players or his trades or his true feelings about the team. It's the dumbest thing you could do and nothing good can come of it except pleasing a few ill-informed fans.
  10. He was a trooper but the injury surely had an effect on the goal. He couldn't get in position in time.
  11. This brings up an interesting phenomenon IMO. Everyone wants to win the trade. As Sabres fans we surely hope we "win the trade." But it really means nothing. I was sooooooo sick of Stafford, and wanted him gone, and was extremely frustrated with Myers a lot of the time. But they were nice guys. I hated Stafford as a player at times but I liked him as a guy. I really hope he does well. I really hope Myers does well. I hope both teams think they won the trade. I wouldn't say that about other players. Has nothing to do with how good you think they are.
  12. This isn't the right thread but I just turned on the Oilers Habs game with half the third period left. The Habs immediately scored as soon as I turned it on to make it 3-2. Then the Oilers pulled their goalie, scored with less than 30 seconds to go to tie, and then won it in OT. The tank is alive and kicking!
  13. The only thing that could derail the tank is Enroth getting hot like he does, and did earlier this year. Great move for the tank. He has proven to me at least he will never be more than a backup. Good backup. But we need him out for the tank to be completed in an efficient manner.
  14. Almost everyone of Zadarov's passes are right on the stick. Maybe I have been watching the Sabres pass so poorly for so many years that it just seems that way, because we pass so erratically, but he's already one of the best passers on the entire team, and at any spot on the ice, too.
  15. Poor dude. Geez he takes a beating. That could be a bad injury.
  16. He's really incredible for playing 30 or so games in his career. Between hits and smarts and passing and just knowing the game.
  17. That's kind of the funny thing about it. I'm curious as to how many fans around the league follow the Sabres close enough to know how good he is. Precious few I'm sure. Although a lot of fans got a glimpse in the Olympics.
  18. The two shifts before the fight, starting with the big Delaurier hit, the sabres were knocking Senators all over the place. That was great. And now the Sens score. Ugh.
  19. I was obviously talking about Deslauriers, who made a terrific long breakout pass to send Girgs on the partial breakaway.
  20. The goal was a nice play but he will get those every ten games or so. The pass that sent away Girgs on a breakaway was a skill play. That was very good. I think he's always a 4th line guy, but I love his game.
