  1. Past hour
  2. Has any North American sports team owner or exec ever apologized for having a bad team? I think you are looking for answers where there ainโ€™t none.
  3. We don't have much skilled forwards. That will take years to rectify. We do have a decent defense but also subpar goaltending.
  4. To be TRUE contenders without having locked in goaltending would take 3-4 years from here. Lock in GTing and you can accelerate that timeline. But to just get back to relevance. It could actually happen THIS season, if somebody that knew what they were doing was in charge. (Not likely, but it's possible.) And they definitely should be able to be relevant next season in an absolute worst case. This roster ISN'T bad. But, it isn't coached well at all. Get a legit GM and get a legit coaching staff and go from there.
  5. I don't care what his face looks like, he's beat the hell out of McDermott and KC several times without a good QB. Maye is legit and NE has competent coaching. The division is not a freebee anymore.
  6. The Sabres don't have a Huberdeau to go get a Tkachuk. Maybe Cozens could have fetched more if they'd have waited until the draft/offseason. And they definitely don't have a Barkov or Bobrovsky in-house already.
  7. That's our hope. He won't fire his super-yes-man and friend. But maybe he will just not re-sign him. Meanwhile, there's no plan beyond "wait for Power to reach age 25" so that he becomes good defensively with a chEEEap coaching staff, and everyone will be happy to be here.
  8. It took Zito 3 years to turn the Panthers into contenders, 4 to win a cup. And that's rare. And he walked into a slightly better situation having some significant core pieces already than whoever has to take over this mess. It would take a miracle to turn this around into contenders in anything less.
  9. Can't see Adams being brought back, but prior to the start of last season couldn't see any way a year as bad as last year would have him back this year. Sooo ... And couldn't see a way that when Granato got canned, he'd be the only one losing a job with only Ellis getting a demotion out of the entire rest of the coaching staff. Sooooo ... Until Adams is gone, am not expecting it. Will hope for it, but won't expect it. The one thing we have going for us this time versus the past 2 seasons is Kevyn isn't under contract for next year (at present). MAYBE that's the thing Pegula was waiting for prior to making a significant move?
  10. Did the US Olympic team run any workouts this summer with the expanded roster they released a couple of months back that had Thompson and Tuch both on that list? The reason for the Q is: do they already know they AREN'T making the US squad? Asking that because Thompson especially, but Tuch too, seem to be "off" this year. If they knew/ know they aren't going to be going to the Olympics, could that be part of their problem? Or flip side, are they so concerned about making that team that they're gripping their sticks too tight and playing quite poorly for what they'd been expected to bring? Hadn't heard anything at all about the Olympic rosters, but thought maybe some here have heard something.
  11. Slow clap, slow clap. Slow clap-clap-clap. Let's gooo Buffff a -- what the hell. Malenstyn's 2nd, too.
  12. Provided nothing but a โ€œblockโ€ to the players from picks in rounds 3-7 making it to the show
  13. Needed that to land Bernard-Docker; Gilbert wasn't enough. Oh ...
  14. It is, because โ€œscoringโ€ was always being used as a synonym for forwards who can contribute to the creation we need we needed more good forwards - more impact forwards. the context is that subtracting Peterka and adding Doan and Danforth was never the attention the forward unit needed and it was never close to enough
  15. Now, justify the 2nd as a sweetener.
  16. Thoughts? Figured this might help lighten the mood weโ€™re all in over the current mess. If youโ€™ve never seen this, enjoy lol

  17. Think of how much ground weโ€™ll make up on the Cozens front though: every game Norris simply misses heโ€™s benefiting the team relative to what Cozens did while playing. verdict: won the trade My point is that merely firing Adams aids in perception regardless of the reality of Terry being a doofus
  18. It's not the same though. The Sabres had rush creation and still do. They haven't been good at finishing those chances and Ruffs new system has limited them. They need more cycle creation.
  19. I wouldn't even bring perception into this and just say 'reality is reality.' The Sabres are a sh## show that any legitimate player, executive, or coach should avoid like the plague.
  20. Condensed schedule for the Olympics this season. If Norris' injury recovery is the projected 8+ weeks, he's going to miss 24+ games (Dec 1 return). So... there's your max games played under 60 (and he's got 1 already).
  21. No, it is not a good list. Said he has not done a good job at making moves to improve the top of the roster. Merely stating that, though nobody acknowledges it, he has actually TRIED to improve the top end of roster as well as the bottom of it. And, btw, it is SPINE, not SPLINE.
  22. Why should the players feel they should be accountable? They have guaranteed contracts and if you get traded you go to a better situation. Same if you get bought out. Also the GM isnโ€™t held accountable, the coaches arenโ€™t held accountable and the fans are taken for granted as the value of the franchise rises despite 14 years of failure.
  23. Perception is reality. and how any player or executive could perceive Terry as anything but a doofus when he refuses to hold Adams accountable is everything
  24. Do you really believe that any of those available candidates would agree to work under Kevyn Adams? So I don't doubt Adams did do due diligence, but it went something like this: (Phone call) Gallant: Hello? Adams: Hello Gerard. This is Smilin' Kev Adams with the Sabres. I was wondering if you would like to fly into Buffalo to discuss our HC opening. Gallant: Head Coach? Are you still going to be the GM? Adams: Of course! Gallant: No f###ing way! Lose my number. (Hangs up) That call would take about 30 seconds. So 10 of those calls would take about 5 minutes. If you spaced out the calls to include a break for lunch, it would take 30 minutes, tops. Due dillengence done. No legitimate coach will work for a lame-duck clown like Kevyn Adams, unless he wants to ease himself into retirement working in his adopted home town.
  25. the layman only ever says โ€œto-may-toโ€
  26. We needed more chance creation to account for potential drops in sh%
