  1. Past hour
  2. Coleman will likely be active out of sheer necessity because it appears the Bills are short of healthy bodies at WR this week. How many snaps he gets and from what position will be interesting to follow. Shakir's health (and Gabe's) will be a key factor in all of this.
  3. Why mess with all this? I would not play Zucker until he is ready. Play Rosen and get him fired up. Toronto won last night, winning this game is important just to keep pace. The Sabres must get a win streak going.
  4. Depends on whether the Sabres play like “we’ve won two in a row— we’ve got this all figured out. Watch how slick and fancy we can play”.
  5. He could... if he's traded or some form of sign/trade or with an extension announced as part of the offer so the Sabres get a bit more in the return.
  6. I get missing a meeting or two at the very start of your career. I’m not sure where the line is, but the back half of your second season is definitely past it.
  7. If Zucker draws into the lineup tonight, I want him in protected minutes. For tonight, I'd have him take Rosén's spot in the lineup, and then have Östlund or Krebs each take a couple of his shifts. I keep Östlund in the lineup because of the 2-goal night vs. Edmonton and his ability to create more. Zucker takes Östlund's spot by the net on the PP and Östlund kicks out the half-wall. Once Zucker plays a couple games and is full strength, then the line he naturally fits on is current defensive matchup line: Greenway - Kozak -Krebs Zucker.
  8. Sounded like yesterday after practice that Ruff was probably keeping Zucker out until this weekend.
  9. Everyone did a great job of moving the pile a few feet to the right to keep Romanov clear. I love the crowd control from Heiskanen. The one islander spraying him in the face though, that guy gets an eye roll.
  10. This is so true. The Sabres cannot afford to overlook this team tonight. Especially with Oppie behind them.
  11. Taken to the cleaners for UPL? I think most on here would be satisfied with “future considerations” to get that contract off the books. Terry would be even happier.
  12. Except he can’t get an 8 year contract. He can get a 6 year. All being equal, that would be $20M less than he could get from the Sabres.
  13. Perhaps only to the most brilliant hockey minds that deign to visit this message board.
  14. If Zucker returns tonight, who gets benched? Presumably they send Metsa back for the roster spot..but a forward still needs to sit for Zucker. What would your lines be? I almost wonder if you just run it back even if Zucker can go and see how the lines do again tonight. I can't see them doing this again (but it should would be great if they did)
  15. Today
  16. Reminder: When terrible teams play the Sabres on the back half of back to back games, the outcome of the game has little to do with said teams circumstances. Take the Blues game for example. Exact same situation, the Blues shut out the Sabres. So I don’t take any solace in the fact that Calgary sucks or that they played last night. If the Sabres come out the same way they did against St. Louis, they will lose.
  17. A win tonight and they have stopped the bleeding, and positioned themselves to stay in the race if they can just have a stretch of modest, DeLuca .500 level play.
  18. I still don’t think Samuelsson or Greenway’s contract are “bad”. Are they ideal? No. Is it essentially what an average NHL forward or dman make commensurate with their play. Pretty much. Sure you could replace those guys with cheaper versions but until the cap becomes a constraint, I’m not worried.
  19. Probably going to see former Amerk Devon Cooley tonight. His numbers are very good so far this year as the backup but gets no scoring help so no wins. https://www.espn.com/nhl/player/_/id/4319911/devin-cooley
  20. Kempe signed. Tuch will get 8 years x $10M from somebody.
  21. I already know the outcome. The Sabres never win 3 in a row.
  22. The Calgary Flames are not good and they played last night in Chicago. Questions then are simple... If UPL plays, will the NHL allow them to use xl pucks just for funsies? Can Tage Thompson continue to think the other team kicked his puppy? Will Isak Rosen or Noah Östlund score... on the ice, idk about their personal lives. Will Lindy Ruff eat a 2ft chicken parm on the bench? What if Jack Quinn eats a 2ft chicken parm, will he suddenly remember how to hockey better? Find out tonight as your 7-8-4 Sabres take on the red hot 5-13-3 Flames... red hot because they are literally a fire, dumpster fire.
  23. I largely agree. But, the Sabres could also get a head coach and staff that do a better job of putting their players in a position to be successful.
  24. I've been a UPL supporter, but even I don't think it is possible to be "taken to the cleaners" on a UPL trade right now. The combination of his play over the past 12 months and his contract mean if you could move him for future considerations you are getting out of what currently looks like a bad contract. Of course, UPL could find his game on another team with a better coaching staff and D structure. Samuelsson's contract looked bad 2 months ago.
