  1. Past hour
  2. Translation: Make this team better or I’m gone!
  3. I just posted it elsewhere, but I would LOVE that deal for Tuch. If I were the Sabres, I'd throw a party if he signed for a 2 year extension (You'd have him for 3 more years through the season he turns 32, 2027-28, someone else can pay him beyond that)
  4. Yes, it can. But as I indicated, there are those who would say, "if I have to do that, then this is not the place I want to live any longer." As for fear and paranoia not being subjective we simply need to look at the FUD being bandied about on a daily basis. It's all about conjuring up fear where it likely shouldn't exist. It's not about painting a realistic picture but instead one with intent to "scare" people into an action whether it's statistically relevant or not.
  5. Tuch should sign for 2 x $12.25M as a prove it deal (to the owner). Then, go to Florida or Las Vegas on a Cup-mission spite discount.
  6. I'd take the exact same deal for Tuch. Not going to happen but give him a ton of money but limit it to 2 years, sign me up.
  7. It looks like only $12.5m per year. If that is true, he is doing EDM a HUGE favor
  8. 2 years at $12.5 m per year for McDavid is what is floating out there.
  9. I like the player, but $48.5M per year is way too high a cap hit for me. 😇
  10. 2 years for McDavid per Ryan Rishaug
  11. This is from Sportsnet: Terms of the deal were not initially available. However, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on the 32 Thoughts Podcast earlier Monday that a short-term contract was expected. "I'm not even convinced it's gonna be as long as four years, if he signs. I think it could be less than that. And as I've been saying all the way along, I think it's going to be lower than many people expect, below $16 (million), if he signs. I would be surprised if it's close to that," Friedman said. Meanwhile, Sportsnet's Mark Spector reported the salary could land "quite possibly in $15 million range" annually, which would be lower than Kirill Kaprizov's record-setting eight-year, $136 million ($17 million AAV) contract with the Minnesota Wild. If this is the case this actually would be really good for the Sabres cause it would show even the best player in the world takes less money to play where he wants to play, so maybe Tuch would do the same
  12. it will be interesting to see. If I were McDavid, I'd try to figure out how long I'll be considered the top (or at least top 5 player in the league). If I think I will be a top 5 player for at least 4 more years, I might just sign for as much as I can for 4 years. Thinking there will still be a big market for me after those 4 years are up. And if he hasn't won a cup by then, its going to be harder and harder in Edmonton beyond that, that gives him the flexibility to shop to other contenders after a few more shots in EDM.
  13. Its been confirmed he has signed, no word on AAV, years or total money yet I'm going to predict 20 million per season on a 8 year deal? 160 Million total?
  14. Mcdavid has just singed his extension, no word yet on AAV, years or total money
  15. Yeah, this is all very true. And at least 5, possibly 6, of the 11 (?) accepted penalties were clear cut penalties. I'm still in disbelief over what Diggs did last night. ~8 months removed from an ACL tear. On the wrong side of 30. Jeepers.
  16. Posted in the last few minutes just before 12:30 pm today...
  17. But then they'd have to waive Bryson (or the claimed player) once everyone gets back to health. And Adams can't risk exposing Bryson to waivers.
  18. Zucker is on a long term contract taking him into his late 30's making close to 10% of the cap. For what is likely going to be close to 10% of the cap, at least initially, and close to 8% long term, I do not want to sign someone who "IF" something good happens he'll be able to contribue "in some form". Not for that money.
  19. See also 2005-2006. I think you are spot on. The next season felt so different. Man, we are due for another breakout year. So NFL decision? Seriously, it has to be tough on the quarterback especially.
  20. He's his dad's kid, for sure. Ed was a tool. Shawn is a tool on steroids. (Though it's likely dad did more of them than sonny boy.) They both are under the misguided impression that the people in the stands and watching on TV are there to watch THEM do their jobs. No, actually we prefer it when the refs are essentially invisible. But as bad as Hochuli and crew were; they didn't cause Knox to mistime his shift; they didn't cause Coleman to fumble the ball; they didn't cause Allen to Brett Favre that ball into a non-existant window; and they didn't decide Tre White could cover Diggs without any help as often as he was given that assignment. Stinks that they lost this one; but the Cheats will lose a couple more they shouldn't; the Crows and the Bungles are both essentially dead men walking; SD is still SD; and KC has a killer schedule. The Bills get the AFC North in the year that some teams are emerging in the South and West and they get the NFC South in a year that except for TB they all look like the Fishies. Injuries let them luck into a better PK and better P than they started the year with. Find a way to get past Atlanta next Monday. Get Hoecht and the other suspended guy back; get Oliver healthy; and get to it. They still control their own destiny.
  21. The largetst part of being a fan for me is the social aspect of it. If a team played, but there was no one to talk to about the game, no sports radio, no pre and post game show. No highlights. No stadium or arena to be part of the cheering crows. If it was just the game and nothing else, not even a message board like this, then that would reduce the fun of being a fan for many of us. With that said, it is the REACTION(s) of all those other people in the social aspect that impacts my enjoyment of rooting for a particular team that was the genesis of my prior post.
  22. They should have picked someone up off waivers. Guess we'll see who is healthy but a Byram - Samuelsson pairing makes me wanna puke.
  23. Today
  24. Realize 3 of the 4 pairings aren't those they'll be running Thursday night. But holy cow is that a serious hound's breakfast back there.
  25. I think Greenway is a 4th liner on this squad. He's definitely not rolling with the Norris line or McLeod-Tuch under normal 5-on-5 situations. Ruff has a very Ruffian-style kid third line in Quinn-Kulich-Doan. If Greenway skates on the remaining spare parts line of say: Greenway-Krebs-Danforth, then they probably get 9-10 minutes 5-on-5 and Greenway gets another 2+ as PK1. But, I do agree that Geertsen gets much different ice time. If the 4th line for that night is Geertsen-Krebs-Danforth, then Geertsen gets 6 minutes total and other players get a double shift with the Krebs-Danforth forechecking effort. Pasta is from the Italian word for... well, pasta. Noodle is from the German Knödel or dumpling, but a boiled dumpling is a type of pasta.
  26. With this Defense the Sabres should claim someone of waivers to just come in and Temporarily take a spot. It was mentioned before but the Leafs put Thrun on waivers and Colorado put Keaton Middleton on waivers I'd take Keaton Middleton all day, he is Jacob Middletons brother who plays for Minnesota, now while Jacob is the much better player, they both play the game the same way. They are both there teams toughest players and best fighters. I would welcome Middleton with open arms! He can play third pairing minutes until Kesserling is back and then if we dont want him anymore try to put him on waivers to get to Roch, or truthfully just keep him as the 7 and let Bryson go. If we are trying to be tougher to play against, here is a perfect way to do that
