Adam Kleber is 6'6" I suppose we could debate if he skates better. Eklund has an attitude. Biggest attitude is going to be Martin followed by Bear.

There's literally no room. None. Where would Eklund even play? Who's spot is he going to take? He's also signed for another year in the SHL.

Seravalli: Real hard to picture JJ Peterka in a Sabres uniform this fall

Pegula needs to sell it. That would be the best PR for the team with potential free agent signings. -
Defenders of interest, who could bolster the defense
GoPuckYourself replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
RHD Dante fabbro could be a solid UFA pickup, 9 G, 17 A, 26 P, +23 and really had his best season to date especially defensively which we desperately need and he did it playing on the top line with Werenski so playing with Dahlin would be a solid 1-2 punch. Another name I'd love for Buffalo to trade for is Radko Gudas, I loved the way he played on Florida and he does the exact same on Anaheim, he's a heart and soul type of player, plays on the first line but would be an excellent guy to work with Owen Power imo. He's old at 34 and will be 36 when the contract is up and he makes 4M which isn't ideal but he plays excellent defense and was a +4 on an abysmal Ducks team plus he will literally take pucks to the head blocking shots on the PK and is 8th in hits. I know people are saying Mackenzie Weegar (I was also) but his salary is 6.25M which istoo much as I think we can get Fabbro for around 4.5/5M rangeon a possible bridge deal. Of course this would mean we would definitely have to deal Samuelsson or Clifton or both for all I care. Rasmus Anderson was absolutely terrible this past season and I think he was a -28 or something awful like that, he had a hard time to say the least. - Today

Even if the player has the option, not the team? That's too bad.

We hate this team and every player. I can't believe we're trading another player we love. -
KA weaponizing cap space, bringing a knife to a gunfight. Looked like that guy with the impressive sword work that Indiana Jones shoots.
-
For sure. He's too driven and ornery. Although, for enough cash, I'm betting he could coast for an entire season and Edit: then get traded to a playoff contender of his choice because Adams signed him with trade protections... then retire after the season.
-
I'd have thought Boushh would've been a good fit for Power, but Power spent the 22-23 season with Joker (which worked --- it might have been both of theirs best seasons as Sabres). But Boushh got stuck on the third pairing with Bryson, Fitzgerald... and then acquired Stillman in a trade at the deadline. See... Adams stinks. Because the right move that season was to get a top-4 defender and make a move, and maybe even have that top-4 guy stick around or be under contract for the following season. Push everyone else down a spot and get Bryson out of the lineup. Hell, get two D because you're going to the playoffs. Instead... Stillman was the deadline pickup. And $17 million just sitting there in cap space. Le sigh.
-
But, Lafferty is so much faster. Except for Perry’s short lived stint in Chicago, he’s been signing with playoff teams hoping to go deep. I don’t think the Sabres are on his radar. I doubt he would mail it in like Staal.
-
Annnnnd... if you can sign him.... he raises the age of the roster by a whole Benson.

I don't want him as the pick, but at least Eklund does have a high motor. The fear I have as a Sabres fan is that a high motor is sufficient to get you onto the NHL roster in your draft year. -
What is the Next Piece of Good News We Get About This Team?
dudacek replied to Flashsabre's topic in The Aud Club
I think there actually will be big news with moves over the next 6 weeks, and new faces coming in on and off the ice. I don’t know that any will be greeted as good news, because we’ve been well-conditioned to be skeptical of whatever they decide to do. I think we’re probably waiting until Adams gets fired in November or December after yet another weak start before we actually get some news that makes us happy. And that will last until we get to the part of the Tweet that reveals Jerry Forton will guide the team on an interim basis while Terry undergoes an exhaustive search to select the permanent guy. -
Yeah, bringing in RHD like EJ, Clifton and Lyubushkin was an attempt at helping Power but they don’t have the ability to play 2nd pairing minutes.

Sabres looking for Senior Advisor for Adams and Hockey Department
7+6=13 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
With all due respect, especially because you're one of my favorite posters, I think this is likely a stretch. Obviously you could be right, I certainly don't have the facts. I doubt he needs what little, relatively, it costs to spend on the Sabres to pour everything possible into the Bills. The Bills are just too lucrative and the Sabres are profitable. I want to believe it's something more than not caring or greed. He just doesn't seem like that kind of dude but who knows. He spent before. Like many things Sabres, little makes sense to me. -
Does anyone like the idea of Brendan Shanahan
Cranky old man replied to SJSabres Fan's topic in The Aud Club
Terry Pegula’s inaction, as it relates to the structure of the Sabres over the last five years, (and previous) strongly suggests he would not hire anyone above Adams. Once might even conjecture that Adams’ eager embrace of an unlikely promotion after the mass firing of 22 employees at Sabreland in 2020 earned him an invisible leash X years long. Though hiring Shanahan would immediately rehabilitate Pegula’s standing as the worst owner in the NHL, he owes Kevyon for standing in front of the cameras taking all the garbage that should be answered by an owner or team president. -
Sanderson also got to skate with Zub, Jensen, and Chabot and even Hamonic this season. All established veterans on the right side who would provide steady guidance and positioning for a young offensive go-getter. The Sabres best guy not named Dahlin for that the last two seasons was Jokiharju.

2025 NHL Entry Draft Thread, Sabres Draft 9th
French Collection replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Yeah, I don’t think he takes Eklund but he might, as much as that kid is what I see as more of the same. I am ready to shake it up from BPA to BFA ( biggest friggin’ attitude). -
Not disagreeing with your conclusion, but Mtrka has more range than any of these guys. The size/skating combo he offers is not something that's typically available in the 2nd road.
-
Hmm, idk. I think it more likely they overcompensate and take Mrtka or Lakovic then add another player similar to several of their current prospects.
-
He obviously still loves the game to embrace these roles after what he accomplished as a young man. His grit would be nice to infuse into 95% of our Sabres players.

It will be easier for KA to justify taking Eklund. -
Corey Perry still doing it.
