  1. Past hour
  2. Usually, but this year I think we've actually taken a step backwards.
  3. Only in Buffalo would a young prospect be anointed as a 1C where otherwise in properly managed teams it would be questionable that he is even a center and/or top 6 player (yet).
  4. Nashville spent like drunken sailors during FA last year then missed the playoffs. So uhh; exsctly why huge FA signings aren’t a guarantee
  5. Essentially, by the time Levi reaches his potential, he'll be on the brink of UFA. Tuch may already be gone. TNT and Dahlin could be demanding trades. And then Levi walks, just as Ullmark did, because there's no money in the organization that had Hasek to pay a proven starting goalie. (Under this current GM/owner combination.)
  6. I'm not worried about Benson not responding to a coach. I'm worried about Benson being a self-respecting SOB who wants to win and telling the GM of this team via agent: There is no counteroffer. We don't want to be here. Trade, please.
  7. Yeah. Really like Metsa for the Amerks and Fiddler-Crab too. Karmanos has been doing some solid work.
  8. Two good signings for Rochester. Metsa won't ever get a look over Bryson. Metsa would hate to be stuck in the press box.
  9. What good is Levi hitting if you've wasted Tuch's cheap days, Dahlin and Tuch get tired of waiting on a goalie prospect, and Power never achieves full power? Levi will price himself out of Buffalo by the time he's good.
  10. Benson's a carney. You honestly think that he can't handle a little stick tap on the helmet when the HC is trying to make an example of him? He's heard every single derogatory slur there is and it has all rolled right off. Benson laughs at your lack of faith.
  11. Benson is one of the hardest workers on the team. Kulich has proven that he is a hard worker as well. JJP improved every year he was in the organization. That doesn't happen without hard work. Who can blame him for wanting out from under the Adams' gross mismanagement on the team? If they dogged it on the ice, you might have a point, but Benson, Kulich and JJP are the wrong choices for you theory. There are guys who have dogged it out there. Power is the leader of that group. He is the epidemy of spoiled player. He got his big contract and has regressed every year.
  12. That’s a lot for KAM but if there’s one team that I would trust in identifying under-developed defensemen and getting the most out of them, it’s Carolina. I don’t love the fit for them looking at the player he was in NY but I feel like every D that goes to Carolina finds the next level in their game. I’d bet they’re hoping he clicks with Slavin who can mitigate any mistakes. Now they just have to find an entire second line. Not sure where that 2C comes from unless they’re just going to continue trying to roll Kotkaniemi out there.
  13. And it's so easy to leave. Don't worry. You won't be branded a quitter by the league -- how you gave up on your teammates and such. You'll be praised for your intelligence and desire to win. JJP (and I guess JBD, too) laid the blueprint for how to simply coast on out of town. Benson is a RFA next summer.
  14. And this right here is why these kids feel so entitled here, on what planet has Juri Kulich earned the #1 C role? 24 points/ -4 in 62 games now earns you the top line center role? No wonder nobody tries hard, very few of these young guys are even earning the jobs given to them. Oh Levi...give him the backup goalie role for no good reason, Kulich... give him top line C, Benson... give him top 6. These guys need to work from the bottom and prove their worth otherwise we'll have a Peterka situation every single year.
  15. You should know this by now, were selecting 8th, then we will lose a spot in the lottery and select 9th.
  16. Any possibility that now that Karmanos pretty much has a full roster for Ra-cha-cha, he can turn his attention to improving the Sabres' roster? Maybe if we ask nicely and say pretty please?
  17. Kulich is the No. 1 center. He is making this team. The reason for the 3 years deals for both Kozak and Johnson is to try to avoid them getting claimed if management has to send one of them down. Odds are that one or more injuries in camp will make sending Kozak or Johnson down moot.
  18. In terms of FA aren’t those 2 the only FWD we cared about anyways - never woukd have wanted then giving granlund 7 mil with term. they always needed to make a trade if it wasn’t ehlers / will they is the real ?
  19. Today
  20. No I've got Chicago, San Jose and Pittsburgh below them in terms of the standings. Anaheim and Seattle might drop just below them to put them around 6 but that's about it. There's a few other teams that might deconstruct or crash and burn but I'd expect Sabres to be near bottom, around 4-6 from the lowest point total. Lottery wins could change that list a little like this year. Most everybody around us got better (even if only a little). Sabres on the other hand are not better. Likely worse.
  21. Pretty sure the thing that most impresses the coaches about Bryson is that he is REALLY appreciative of not having to load his own bag onto the team bus and has no thoughts whatsoever about making waves when he's relegated to the pressbox. That, and they've said they haven't noticed a dropoff in his play when he hasn't been in a game for a long time vs when he's been a regular. It's like they see him as the absolute ideal #7. (Too bad his talent is that of an 8 or a 9.)
  22. I haven’t given Adams credit for anything in five years. I’ll break down here. McLeod has been a solid acquisition, we used an asset who was an accessory. Good extension deal. We picked up some right handed D. Feels like roster building. If this is the Jarmo effect—-I like it.
  23. So Metsa finally got that NHl contract? Good for him.
  24. Excuses and apologies. Been hearing this sort of crap for years. Never pans out. Kulich is young but we're rushing him. Could be a drop off or a jump forward. Impossible to know which way it goes. Placing him in as top line center would be continued ridiculousness. Quinn was not hurt last year. He just sucked.
