  1. Past hour
  2. I don’t like the idea of moving Byram without adding another defenceman. Dahlin Kesselring Power Timmins Samuelsson Bernard-Docker Bryson That just doesn’t look any better than last year’s questionable group.
  3. In the case of Byram-Dahlin, they keep the puck out by possessing the puck and threatening the opposition to back off because when either of them gets the puck they can immediately begin the transition to offense. https://www.naturalstattrick.com/pairings.php?fromseason=20242025&thruseason=20242025&stype=2&sit=5v5&score=all&rate=n&team=ALL&loc=B&toi=500&gpfilt=none&fd=&td=&tgp=410 Then, sort by GF%. They are better than the other top pairs in the league with big minutes: Hedman-Moser, Samberg-Pionk, McDonagh-Cernak, their +20 goal differential is the same as Toews-Makar. In most cases, the B-D pair gives up fewer goals in more minutes than any of those, and in times they do give up more goals, they scored many more, too. What's odd is Ruff didn't play them together more. Just specific to bad defense, it's not just the D-corps -- we're also underselling the importance of good goaltending (Toews-Makar gave up a ton of goals early in the season because of crap goalies) and the commitment of the forwards to getting the puck out of their own zone. Give it 12 hours... he may not be. (At this point, I hope they keep him, because I think removing him weakens their blue line and brings Bryson that much closer to the daily lineup.)
  4. We can fix the Leinonen draft pick f-up!
  5. Ya if he ends up staying there really is no issue with that, especially on a short term bridge, he will be motivated to play well and while he isn’t the biggest guy he played pretty tough last year and never shied away from anything personally if Voronkov is on the table, you do that all day, it is almost impossible to get guys like him If they sign Gavrikov it sure does
  6. Don’t know if a summer of Voronkov, Doan, Kesselring and Timmons for Peterka, Clifton and Byram makes this team better, but it sure makes it bigger.
  7. I think this is bad math. You would want to look at average salary of defenders and go from there. Idk if it would move it up or down but I would guess down. Hague isn't worth 5.5 a year in the same way Samuelsson isn't worth 4.3, at least IMPO
  8. While I think he ultimately goes...keeping makes the team better overall. The fa market can address the forward need. I still believe GMS are trying to call kas bluff...I would
  9. I’m aware of the booger sugar culture in hockey. It’s prevalent. There are probably a bunch of guys on the team that partake. Young good looking millionaire athletes are going to find an outlet. Just weed out the guys with a problem (maybe even get them help), and build a team.
  10. Average NHL salary is a tad over $4M right now. NHL says in 3 years it will be $5M. Three years after that $6M, if the trend continues. Is Nick Hague an average player? Because in terms of AAV, he just got an average contract
  11. Seriously? I can't even get you to admit Byram is in the team.
  12. Harrington on XM yesterday said Sabres would like to keep him at least on a short term deal. Was mentioned by someone the market not as strong as originally thought. Issues are Byram wanting to be a 1 and money Sabres have tied up in the D already. Byram could increase his value significantly playing a couple years with Dahlin.
  13. When you lived in a pent house it's not very unlikely you are going to move to the ghetto.
  14. Good point, it's probably the facts that are wrong in this discussion.
  15. Adams loves collecting his RFAs. Voronkov is the obvious choice -- really good production this past season -- and is RFA this summer. Perfect timing. But, for kicking the decision can down the road, Sillinger and Chinakov are RFAs next summer (definitely prefer Voronkov over either of them). And Fantili is RFA next summer, too. Hey, I can dream! They also have Luca Del Bel Belluz, whom Jarmo drafted and had his ELC slide twice, so he still 2 years on the deal and is reaching tweener status this season.
  16. I'm not trying to sway anyone on this, but of all the accomplishments of UPL and Levi, the single most impressive thing that either of them has done, and it isn't close in my view, is UPL playing 54 NHL games in 23-24 and going 27-22-4 with a 2.57 GAA and a .910 save %. Nothing Levi has done in his career, comes close to this as it relates to actually translating to NHL success. I wouldn't say I have tremendous faith in UPL at this point, but at least it can be said he has an actual good NHL season in his recent history.
  17. This is an INSANE deal for a Dman that got 12 pts in 68 games last year. If KA did this this place would erupt.
  18. I have more faith in Levi than UPL at this point.
  19. I think some people are generally kind of shy, especially at 18 so i try not to judge them. No idea the truth on that, but a friend of mine (bartender/musician) mentioned that crew of kane, eichel, and reinhart (and roy before them) also spending too much time in bars and bar bathrooms. Wouldn't shock me if its still an ongoing issue among young players and honestly that kind of immaturity can be part of the issue with a really young team.
  20. Where we are as of June 30. I guess Reimer is officially a Sabre until tomorrow.
  21. A coworker of mine just asked if I saw how miserable this kid was when he was drafted. I hate the behavior that the internet fosters. People make faces. You can’t tell what the player is thinking or feeling. Please STFU. He also mentioned that Peterka was traded because of substance abuse issues. What ***** up part of the internet propagates this nonsense.
  22. Google says Kulich shoots left so would most likely be a LWer. Moving Tage to Center, we'd have Tage 1c, Norris 2c. McLeod 3c
  23. Ha - what are you my therapist?! I apologize too much in general 🙂
  24. Today
  25. That's just it we are weak at Center that's why would need to shift Tage there. As to me the only top 2C on the roster is Norris but until he shows he can stay healthy he's my 2C. I mean am okay with Kulich at 1C but need to move Benson down for that to happen IMO. Yet some here feel that Benson is going to become a point producer this season.
  26. We all know he is going to do something...... That will probably be a head scratcher or just dumb
