Let's go Bandits! The quest for a 3-Peat has begun

Connor Farrell, the Bandits face off specialist, is not having a good night. -
Seth Jones quiets the Scotia Garden. Blow Leaves Blow.

Is it me or does Bissonnette look like mid-80s Freddie Mercury?
-
Florida just isn’t testing Wohl much at all with these shot selections.
-
Florida is dominating possession, but Toronto is getting way more quality chances. Florida has to be better about avoiding all those blocked shots. Florida studs need to step up on offense.
-
Nice start by Florida, but now their defense has to stop pinching up and giving odd man rushes to Toronto.

Hope its a good game. I bet Samson is in on winning goal 👍

I would be upset to see Tuch and/or Peterka leave. Byram being moved seems inevitable. Moving Quinn and Muel would not bother me. Moving UPL, that depends on what is coming in.
-
No wonder they jumped him

Bizzinette spelling is such a homer!

Correct. This is a best of 3 series. Lose and they come home to Buffalo next weekend. -
Are you actually watching Amerks games or just saying these things based on what happens with the sabres? Serious question Edit: just to be clear, I'm not saying this to be rude. I think the amerks did a better job of building an all around roster than they have in years past, as @DarthEbriate outlined in the post above. But also, your earlier comment about them not being able to build rosters at either level was kind of wild to me. The amerks have done pretty well the last few years

I wanted to say the 20s, but look where we are now.

If they win, is that the championship? -

The market for players of Alex Tuch’s profile and stature is pretty well established: a 1st, plus an equivalent prospect as a rental at the deadline. Brock Nelson is the most recent example. In a best case scenario, Tuch’s size, speed, contract and playoff experience all may add up to him being the hottest asset on the market and push that up. The Timo Maier haul (a 1st, 2nd and 3 prospects) is a best-case scenario. Some might argue he’d offer a bigger return if you trade him now. I guess that’s possible, but I didn’t come across an example, at least for a player of Tuch’s profile. Assets like him rarely get moved for anything other than futures, so a hockey trade would be a surprise. I think given team needs, I’d be trying to re-sign him for as long as that door stays open.

I seen what you did there.

Who has more ex-Sabres? The logical matchup for the Final is Oilers-Panthers. But Lyubushkin v. McCabe would be intriguing. Because clearly the Sabres had no use for a bottom 4 checking/PK defenseman… ever. Just not Carolina this year.
-
This is the logical choice to move. If the brass is good with some center spine of Norris-Thompson-McLeod-Kulich-Krebs, it’s going to push someone to right wing, then he’s the one guy that doesn’t fit in the lineup in a bottom 6 winger role. You can keep him as a 4th line Kotalik PP/shootout specialist, but you’re going to need to play much better team defense to ensure many more overtimes and shootouts. Thus far, that has not been his deployment.

Both teams are proven but for very different reasons.

Juvenile humor hasn’t been your style since the 60s.

I’m not sure. 1) They have a goalie. 2) Maybe a bit light on the defensive side but they’ve have a strong guy in Novikov with NHL potential, an NHL tweener in Clague, a two-way AHL top-4 in Metsa, and a defensive specialist in Johnson. Maybe light, but they made it past Syracuse’s bullies with multiple shutouts and a clean crease. 3) Up front they have the proven muscle with Dunne, the boards guys in Rousek, Fiddler, and Warren/Slaggert. And plenty of snipers. Östlund and Helenius being young isn’t necessarily a detriment. Jobst as a more experienced playmaker type. At the AHL level, what do you think they are missing?

Florida will never regret the trade. They got their first Cup. The forwards are too young still. But Adams is the GM EEEternal, so just wait 3 more years and everything will work out. That’s the plan and we’re simply along for the ride.
