  1. Past hour
  2. Jake Allen maybe? Actually Anton Forsberg is an option, Our new Sr advisor knows him
  3. Torts got fired for some altercation with York. Not interested.
  4. Yes, keep Levi in Rochester unless injury.
  5. Here is the UFA market. Not sure there are answers there.
  6. I'm not even sure that UPL will be back? I wouldn't be surprised if he was included in a deal to get a veteran goalie.
  7. Not for me. The past is the past. As a coach I would be looking for something else. If you believe that he would be a prime candidate for another team, then that's fine. I don't see him back behind the bench again.
  8. lllllllllll I agree with you that It's not the same situation as it was with Eichel and Reinhart who are instrumental players on their respective teams. But Skinner's former teammates do have to have some feelings that it takes being on another team to make the playoffs and vie for the cup. I'm sure many of this Sabre buddies are saying to themselves: I wonder how it feels because I haven't come close to having that experience where I am?
  9. You don’t think seven years at Tampa, six years at Columbus, three years at Ohilly is durable? What is then?
  10. “Career suicide” is a strong term. I think this is similar to the Ruff hire. Kekalainen, like Ruff, I think is well respected in the hockey community, but not necessarily highly regarded for his recent work. If things get worse here rather than better, it certainly isn’t going to help Kekalainan get a new GM job (well, maybe in Buffalo). It’s also similar to the Ruff hire in that, like last off-season with Ruff, you can expect that every perceived “good” move made by the Sabres this summer will be touted as having “Kekalainan’s influence all over it”. That is, as with Ruff, until those moves don’t work, in which case it will be all Adams’s fault and Kekalainan will get the “how could he have known it was this bad” pass.
  11. It would be interesting to know what the terms of agreement, even if only verbal, were with Keka and KA and with Keka and the owner.
  12. Today
  13. I think they need to do something new in net. I would have loved to sign Freddy Andersen but Carolina reupped him. I would role the dice on Demko for a year or see if Gibson is still available (not sure with Quenville there now). But UPL-Levi or UPL Reimer like backup is a non starter for me.
  14. I wasn't referring to Keenan although his style of coaching is beyond being outdated for this era of hockey. If Torts is so durable then why is it that wherever he goes he ends up being asked to leave. In my view, his approach to the game is passe No thank you. Looking to the past for solutions is not the way to go.
  15. Probably. My post was mostly a dig at Kevyn Adams, as I believe he couldn’t draft Mario Lemieux if he had the ten first picks in the 1984 entry draft.
  16. You must be referring to Mike Keaanan. Torts is quite durable, despite his somewhat dated? approach to coaching.
  17. Imagine how different NHL drafts would be if the players were 20yr olds.
  18. We all agree they need an experienced #1 NHL goalie right? That you can't run upl/ Levi and expect any hope of playoffs?
  19. Levi had a great series against the crunch, which he should have. Against Laval he was terrible: 3.6gaa and .861 sv%. Go get a #1 and continue to season Levi in ahl. If you end up having two #1s sounds like a good problem to have. For those that are going to say " but Laval is so good". They are down 2-0 going back to Charlotte being outscored 10-3
  20. Exactly, I don’t view it the same as those others. He’s a black ace who is only in due to injuries. Besides, they haven’t won anything yet, one of his defensive lapses may cost them a game.
  21. There is no scenario where this is “career suicide.” As others have pointed out, it’s a no lose situation. If things work out, he’s the genius who saved a sinking ship. If they don’t, the narrative will be “he could only do so much with what he had to work with.” Most people taking on new assignments prefer to take over an under-performing business or department as opposed to a thriving one and this is no different.
  22. I have a really hard time believing he took the job as a subordinate, non decision making advisor to the sinking ship of Kevyn Adam’s. That would be career suicide. I think he will be promoted to GM before the season starts. Any roster restructuring will be done on Adam’s watch as cover and clean slate for Jarmo.
  23. Meh, he's played 2 games in the playoffs and wasn't traded. Not the same as the Eichel/Samson/ROR.
  24. On Roger McQueen https://www.stanleycupofchowder.com/2025/5/14/24424541/2k25-draft-profiles-roger-mcqueen-nhl-brandon-wheat-kings-hockey "But onto that injury. At first, McQueen’s injury was simply known as “Back Injury”; which was initially was rumored to be a slipped disc, but was clarified later to be Spondylolysis, or a Pars Fracture of the Spine, which can be quite dangerous, but is quite common in both contact and non-contact sports where forced spine extension is a part of the deal (Gymnasts and O-linemen are frequently the victims of this), and while it usually does require a brace, physical therapy, and plenty of rest, it is usually treatable without surgery, and from his direct correspondence with local journalists, it appears he never needed it."
