Any non-sober person who followed the Sabres recognized early on that Terry P was a virus that was infecting this plagued franchise. It didn't take much talent to come to that obvious conclusion early on. It's like saying that crap stinks. You may not be aware of it but most of us were aware of it as soon as he started acting like a drunken fool once he took over.

It would be a big mistake. With a Dahlin trade you are essentially signaling that you will be going through another rebuild. That will likely mean that Tuch and Tage will also make it clear that they will also want out. And it wouldn't be a surprise if Tuch is in that category already.

The timing of all this will be interesting if the Sabres keep winning. Not likely, but it's sports, and strange things happen. Terry doesn't seem like someone who would fire a guy right before xmas.

We have an experienced goalie in Lyon. He's certainly not an elite goalie but is as good as any goalie that could be acquired on the market right now. There's no question that an elite goalie is a difference maker. That caliber of goalie is usually kept by most well-run franchises. The problem for the hometown club is the roster and the way it is constructed. The GM needed to add another top six forward to the roster. He didn't. The Sabres have three goalies on the roster and Levi in Rochester. In my view, one of them has to go. I'm not fretting over which one is dispatched.

That's how I see it. UPL is just so unpredictable. But so are so many other goalies, look at Skinner, a really good goalie a lot of the time, other times, not so much. Lyon seems like a slightly above average goaltender. Sabres biggest problem is they give up too many goals 5v5. Is that the goaltending? Partly, and they need better play from that position. I'd go with Ellis more and hope he grows into the job, but I guess the brass thinks UPL can be that guy again. Hope they are correct

Yup. They will most likely hire a new coach in the off season. Jarmo, or whoever the GM is, should run the coach search, and the coach should report to him.

I had the same sensation. He sounds like a demoralized Sabre fan. It's like a reprise of the Eichel situation.

The problem is that a proven coach who has been involved in a serious Stanley Cup pursuit, is aware of what it takes to get to that lofty level. And that caliber of coach would not want to put himself in such a poorly structured situation with an owner like Terry P. whose reputation and competency is well known in the hockey business.

Mike, I know how you feel about old-man Karmanos. You know the history better than me. Would Jason Karmanos and DeBoer have a (positive) history, given that DeBoar came up through Compuware and the Plymouth Whalers?

Terry P has structured the organization the way he wants it to be structured or more accurately unstructured. By creating this disorderly line of authority, he has more ability to dabble when he so desires. He's a third-rate owner and third-rate wannabe POHO. The sabotaging issue isn't that he doesn't know much about how to be a good NHL owner. It is that he's not aware enough to recognize what he doesn't know. That's the damaging trait that has hovered over this franchise since he bought it.

Vancouver is like Buffalo. Both franchises have made it to the Cup but can’t win it all. Both have had some great players but in the end most players in today’s nhl don’t want to be in certain cities. Throw Calgary in that conversation as well. All three of these cities need to draft well or they are doomed! They ain’t beating Colorado or Dallas.

I would guess the coaching staff are not a part of this. It will simply be Adams reassigned and Jarmo to GM. It makes sense to do this soon as if Adams is essentially a lame duck, regardless of how many years he has on his contract, then it is time to move on as there are important decisions to be made (Tuch, RFAs). Jarmo will hire a new coach in the off-season.

Thinking small? You don’t want a proven coach that has been knocking on the door of the Stanley Cup. You want a first time AHL coach.

Players get old and lose a step, but that doesn’t mean they can’t still play an important (lesser) role as long as they’re being paid accordingly. MoJo is having one of the best seasons of his career. Complete resurgence. And he’s making less than $1M. It’s the anti-Sabre palm tree tax contract. But if I’m Guerin there is no way I go into the playoffs with him penciled into my second line.

Except get the Amerks to the AHL Final Four in 2023. That's about the pinnacle of his resume. His tenure as RPI head coach was nothing impressive.

But just imagine how big the falloff would be as soon as they learned he wasn’t being canned. They’d lose 30 games in a row. Just jettisoning his dark side ways will be such a boon to the franchise. The key will be getting a decision maker with a legitimate playoff vision and the respect of their fellow GMs.

Probably true. Very unconventional. Do all of these guy report direct to Terry? I know Guelli does. Jarmo was supposed to be an Advisor to Adams. Ruff the HC but is he not under Adams? Going back to the LaFontaine days - I think Terry needs a class on organization development.

Yes. The only question is do you also bring up Prospal or promote him to Amerks head coach? That was the suggestion for weeks from Matthew Fairburn.
