Buffalo Wings
I watched it again this morning.....Rick & Jim were right - a complete cheap shot by Ovechkin on Briere. The game misconduct was a no-brainer, but now I'm wondering how many games he should get. 5 is my prediction...not anything I've heard. Knowing our luck, he'll get a $5K fine and a slap on the wrist. scottnc
Orpik only got 3 games for breaking Eric Cole's neck. Of course Briere got two for an accidental high stick as we was falling down so maybe consistency isn't the NHL's strong point.

LabattBlue
The fact that he hit him after it was clear that Briere had let up to go to the bench, should warrant one or two games. I can't see him getting any more than that and I wouldn't be surprised if he received zero games.

Vaive22
The NHL will not suspend him because he is Ovechkin, typical NHL BS It was a terrible hit, he had to know Breire was going off for a change...... if you see the guys numbers on his back your are no supposed to hit him, period! I like how the washington announcers called it "a nudge" that sent Breire into the boards..... I wonder if things were reversed, it would have been called a nudge..... james duncan
Copy that Vaive. No suspension, especially since it was #8. The Caps announcers also called Max's "no goal" clearly the correct call. I guess truly everything's relative. The bench door being open saved Danny IMO.
