Sure there might have been a phone call but Hughes coming here would have been the same as if he stayed in Vancouver. No way he would sign here so it would have been crazy to give up anything meaningful to rent him. Quote

I'd love to know the package offered, if it got that far. Edited 3 hours ago by PromoTheRobot Quote

If you're trading Dahlin, I need something like 2026 1st, Sam Dickinson, Will Smith. Igor Chernysov. Some will be mad I'm not saying more established players but that's never how these trades work. The SJS have drafted forwards the past 5 years. Centers 4 of the 5. If Misa hits, they will not want to pay three centers top dollar. If this team faces an ultimatum from Rasmus, then Smith would be an ideal return and what the Sabres need in terms of a top line scoring. Would hate to part with a blue chip D-man but I agree, the return cannot be lottery picks. Quote
Jorcus Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago I think any conversation would have started with our unprotected 1st plus Byram or Power then 1 or 2 other assets. The draft pick would give them an extra shot at McKenna probably. I don't see why we do it without a commitment. Quote

He may just ride it out and put himself on the market to sign with another team that will put him in a better hockey situation. The sad and embarrassing reality is that the Sabres are one of the top teams most cited on NMCs. Most high-end players have no interest in coming here, and to make it even worse, the downtrodden Sabres have an ignominious history of their better players wanting out of this cesspool. This franchise created its own crippling stench. Quote
