I went to that Devils game a week ago, I'd let go of Lyons and keep Ellis. Lyons just looks slow and small in the nets. Lyon Quote

Pimlach Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago (edited) When the team plays a game like last night its easy to blame the goalie. The Flyers game result was more about the Sabres leadership and focus, about playing smart hockey, and keeping self control. Brutal mistakes were made all night and usually by the best players on the team. Edited 2 hours ago by Pimlach 2 Quote

IMO he's good enough to be a starter on a playoff team, but not good enough to get this Sabres team to the playoffs. Considering their recent play I was shocked when Ellis got the start last night. UPL hasn't give up more than 3 goals since his first game of the season in late October. Both Ellis and Lyon have given up more than 3 in 4 of their last 6 starts... since Nov 1st, they both rank near the bottom of the league in goaltending metrics, while UPL is in the top 3rd. It seems obvious that UPL should be the #1 moving forward. Quote
