The phone conversation from Connery's side must've sounded something like this: No way, it's too klitschy, it's beneath me, it's a joke, it's, it pays HOW much? As @Weave said, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. What's the worst that taking a shot does? It changes not a God blessed thing. What's the best that taking a shot does? It just MIGHT work. And even if its only a 2% chance, it's worth taking. And like somebody else said, why not see if you can have Josh Allen in on the phone conversation when Kekaliainen and Adams call him up? Fork it. Think outside the box for once. How do you know that there wasn’t some communication? If the other party uproariously laughs at you, then even a dullard such as KA can get the message. @Brawndojust posted that Marner went to Vegas. I suspect that this previously arranged under table deal was already known by most of the league. Quote

I suspect that this previously arranged under table deal was already known by most of the league. How do we KNOW there wasn't some communication? Because nobody is reporting that the Loafs are threatening the Sabres with tampering unlike the way they're threatening the Kin-ig-hits. He is STILL under contract and is a Loaf until midnight tonight (barring a really weird late trade). Other GMs can't reach out to him until he's a FA. Quote
Weave Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago 16 minutes ago, JohnC said: You are assuming that he made no inquiries regarding the availability/interest of this immensely talented player. If it was made clear to him that the whale talent had no interest in coming here, then why waste your energies in a futile pursuit when it an be directed toward some other smaller fishes that can still help you improve the team? I recently had my bank call me to discuss some financial “products” that would benefit me. I politely but firmly told them no, not interested. The bank hasn’t called me back about their beneficial “products”. They didn’t want to waste their time. This is an easy case to recognize the reality of the situation and channel your energies toward other fishes, even if they are smaller. So, this conversation started when I said Marner must be pursued, to which you replied with all the reasons why Marner wouldn’t sign. So I asked you to clarify if KA should pursue Marner, which led to you listing more reasons why Marner wouldn’t accept. You still haven’t suggested whether or not KA should take a swing. You’ve only offered excuses to why it might not be successful. Whatever Grandma Marner. Your little one is safe from Sabres gloom. Quote

It was to be able to give Marner an eight year deal versus a seven year deal. Toronto signed him to an 8 year extension and then dealt him. Vegas gets their guy, the player gets max term, and Toronto gets something instead of nothing for the player. Tampering Shampering. 1 Quote
Gatorman0519 Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago There are several teams that are destination cities and have huge advantages over others. Parity via free agency is no longer a lock. The Sabres are at the bottom and likely never to rise to contender status again. Some of it is our own doing. But not everything is. Quote

I didn’t grab the tampering issue out of the blue. It was mentioned by the former French and loquacious Sabre goalie, Marty B, on his WGR hockey show. Quote
Palm Trees And Taxes Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago League is a joke. When you have NHL shills like Elliott Friedman saying 'wow what a job' by these no tax teams, the league is a farce. So if Person A offers me $20.00 and I net $12 from him and Person B offers me $17.00 and I net $14.00, this makes Person B a genius in the commish, and other NHL shills eyes, who deny, deny and deny. Might be time for the NHL to go the soccer premier route and have the No Tax and big Markets for one Cup, and the other markets compete for something else. Quote

Not a good plan to throw 15 mil at one player this off season. Stop making excuses for KA to not go after good players!!!! LMAO!! 😁 1 Quote
