And like somebody else said, why not see if you can have Josh Allen in on the phone conversation when Kekaliainen and Adams call him up?  Fork it.  Think outside the box for once.

How do you know that there wasn’t some communication? If the other party uproariously laughs at you,  then even a dullard such as KA can get the message.

@Brawndojust posted that Marner went to Vegas. I suspect that this previously arranged under table deal was already known by most of the league.

How do we KNOW there wasn't some communication?  Because nobody is reporting that the Loafs are threatening the Sabres with tampering unlike the way they're threatening the Kin-ig-hits.

He is STILL under contract and is a Loaf until midnight tonight (barring a really weird late trade).  Other GMs can't reach out to him until he's a FA.

My understanding is that this trade was a cosmetic transaction to avoid tampering charges.

It was to be able to give Marner an eight year deal versus a seven year deal. Toronto signed him to an 8 year extension and then dealt him.
Vegas gets their guy, the player gets max term, and Toronto gets something instead of nothing for the player.

There are several teams that are destination cities and have huge advantages over others. Parity via free agency is no longer a lock. The Sabres are at the bottom and likely never to rise to contender status again. Some of it is our own doing. But not everything is.

I didn’t grab the tampering issue out of the blue. It was mentioned by the former French and loquacious Sabre goalie, Marty B, on his WGR hockey show.

League is a joke.

When you have NHL shills like Elliott Friedman saying 'wow what a job' by these no tax teams, the league is a farce. So if Person A offers me $20.00 and I net $12 from him and Person B offers me $17.00 and I net $14.00, this makes Person B a genius in the commish, and other NHL shills eyes, who deny, deny and deny. 

Might be time for the NHL to go the soccer premier route and have the No Tax and big Markets for one Cup, and the other markets compete for something else.
