Adams wasted the entirety (next year notwithstanding) of one of the best value contracts in the league by not building around him and using all that extra cap space to get RHD, G, and another top-6 C. For his entire time with the team. Now, Adams is going to have to pay Tuch $9M/year still doesn't have the players in the gaps they needed to fill when Adams had all that cap space. There is no reason for Tuch to say: "I can give you a hometown discount because we're playoff regulars and pending-championship-contender status and I believe in you." There's no reason for Tuch to stay. The "good" news is you don't have to worry about Adams giving Tuch $9 million per because he's counting down the days until he escapes this dumpster fire franchise and wouldn't stay here for any amount. I can’t say I agree with such a strong take, but I can concede that if there isn’t an announcement early July about an extension and Kev still has a GM title and an office at One Seymour Plaza, it’s an indictment on the organization. Alex then gets a sudden case of planter fasciitis and then goes to LTIR to not risk injury before his July 1st 2026 signing with another team. @Thorny If you had your druthers, you would not offer anything and move on from Alex? 1 Quote

Sometimes there are multiple right answers, others it’s difficult to find a satisfying course of action at all. This is one of those times, I reckon. Tuch is going to be a causality somewhat of what Adams’ undeniable failure. We can hardly, hardly fail to retain a player of his quality when we only need more, yet we are clearly on the verge of needing to pay him probably double, what he has, for declining performance starting at 30. we cashed in his good years on “development” years. KA had no urgency: now we are forced to choose between the lesser of two weevils Edited 14 hours ago by Thorny 1 Quote

Tuch is not leaving, he's from Syracuse and grew up a Sabres fan. Said it was a dream and honor to put on a Sabre sweater. Quote

So, to throw out numbers just theoretical he gets 9mm on the market... and Buffalo offers 8mm he may stay... Buffalo offers him 6mm probably not ... on a 4 year deal thats 12mm... these guys don't play forever... that said, I do think the Sabres find a way to keep him... Quote

If next season the same Sabres we've seen under GMKA/Pegula, then it will come down to what kind of player/person is he: Is he happy just to be here, or does he want to win the Stanley Cup?
