He's grown stale because the team has been terrible.

 

I think I read an interview with him saying that in the 90s when we had Howardchuck and Anderchuck and another "chuck" (malarkchuk? he was a goalie though), he always wanted the three of them to connect on a goal so he could call , "HERE A CHUCK, THERE A CHUCK, EVERYWHERE A CHUCK CHUCK!"

Yes.  He's trying to make the calls exciting but the team isn't, so it doesn't come off as genuine; it comes off as stale.  But there have been times where he's found the magic, like when they had the split-screen call when Jack scored that OT winner.  That was fun for us and for RJ and he sounded like it.  Seeing his face made it even better.

The best one I heard was back around 06 when Pominville was on a tear and he mentioned that they were gonna have to open up another planned parenthood center in Buffalo because the population was exploding in Pominville.

Another favorite is the always fun someone call a cop because (our goalie) just robbed (whomever).

I think when Pominville scored twice in his first game back is when I realized Rick's tank was pretty empty. There were so many good, clever possibilities. At least I'm not being agist. 75 is no excuse!
