Umberger gets Umbergered

Sorry no video, I'm sure someone'll post it soon, but Brad Stuart absolutely LEVELED RJ. (The link below should work.)

Brad Stuart layed a MASSIVE hip check on him as Umberger was skating up ice near his own blueline and had no idea the hit was coming. (Gee, where have I seen that one before.)

He came back into the game and scored a goal, but this guy has to learn to see what's going on around him or he'll get killed one of these days.

pardon the homerism of the buckeye announcers (the color guy suggests that there should be a penalty - under the current rules: why?).

but, j. cripes - the guy peeked up ice not once but twice - yet still put himself in a very vulnerable position.

None other than Danny Gare.

Ahhh, good call.

:worthy:

EDIT: listening again, i apologize to danny gare: he actually expresses skepticism about any call for a penalty and goes on to opine that umberger didn't act quickly enough to defend himself.

The homerism of the announcers or the homerism of the poster?

Alex, what are things that make you go hmmmmmmm?

:P

;)

(but, seriously, i thought at first he'd called for a penalty, but he pretty clearly wasn't -- in fact, on a third listen just now, i think i can sense some admiration for the sheer violence of the play from old #18.)
